Chapter Two

ACE

"Wake up!" Father yelled through my locked bedroom door. "Faggot! I said wake up! You need to make us breakfast!" I heard him curse again before stomping down the stairs. I groaned and pulled myself out of my bed.

Time to start another day I thought.

I hopped into the shower after grabbing my clothes for the day, a black tank top, a red flannel, and black skinny jeans. After my shower, I fixed my jet-black hair into my normal style.

You can do another day. Just one more day. And then one more after that. And after that.

I took a deep breath and made my way downstairs to the kitchen to make my wonderful parents their breakfast. They hadn't always been like this. They used to love me but then I built up the courage to come out to them as gay. Then everything went downhill, at first mom tried to get me help to 'fix my gayness'. That stopped when Father said that it was my choice to burn in hell.

"Dumbass you're burning the food!" Father yelled smacking me on the back of the head, "Are you trying to kill us? Nevermind. Just go to school and try not to droll over all the guys and fail your classes, idiot." I grabbed my bookbag and ran out of the house before he could say anything else.

I walked to school in silence, it was the only time I ever got any. People at school made my life hell just as much as my parents did. Walking always helped clear my mind of all the bullshit I get told.

"Ace!!" I heard a yell from behind me, before I could turn to see where it came from, I was tackled to the ground. "You almost got hit by a car. You need to stop thinking so hard while walking."

Naeve, my best friend, was beautiful she had long wavy brown hair and pale blue-green eyes. She grinned down at me and said, "Come on, we are gonna be late." She got off of me and helped me up.

"Ready for a fun-filled day of hell?" I asked as we continued our way to the school.

She looked at me with a small frown. "Are those asshole football players still bothering you?" Naeve always tried her best to keep people from bullying me but it almost never worked. When my parents first started treating me wrong, she tried to get me to move in with her. But her parents didn't want to get involved in something that didn't concern them.

"Yea, they are. But it's fine, they don't say anything I haven't heard before. It's not like it bothers me." I shrugged my shoulders.

We walked into the school through the cafeteria doors. Most people were sitting at the tables waiting for the starting bell, some were standing next to the doors that lead to the rest of the school. All in all, it was just crowded.

Naeve and I went to sit at an empty table but before we could, the bell rang. I gave Naeve a small sad smile before walking to my first period. I never used my locker, everything I needed fit into my bookbag.

I put my head down as I sat in my assigned seat in English. Come on Ace, you like English. I sighed at my thoughts and sat up. I got my notebook out and got ready for class to start.

"Lookie here. The fag is gonna draw us for his spank bank." Jared said walking up to my desk. I rolled my eyes.

"Jared, I can't even draw. If you're going to bully me, you need to get your facts straight." I said looking up at him. He had curly brown hair that was cut short and dark blue eyes. His cheeks were red with acne and his eyes were harsh as he glared down at me.

"Yeah- well- at least I have friends." He said as he stomped over to his desk.

"Wrong again. I should really quiz him," I mumbled as the teacher walked in and began to speak.

English went by in a flash and soon I was on my way to second-period history. It was a class that I shared with Naeve so I was excited.

"Look at the fag and his girlfriend," Jared said mockingly when he saw Naeve and me sitting together.

"Do you even think of your insults before you say them?" I asked

"Yea, you just called him gay and then called me his girlfriend. Do you even know what gay is?" Naeve laughed.

Jared's face became red, well redder than normal. He stuttered a bit before giving up on a comeback.

The rest of the day went by like that, Jared trying to insult me, him failing, me laughing. A few of his friends cornered me during lunch and gave me one of their famous 'lessons' which left me with bruises on my stomach and arms.

I was walking home with Naeve when a car passed us. We were on the sidewalk and I was closest to the road. I gasped as I was hit with something wet and cold.

"What the fuck assholes!" Naeve yelled at the retreating car as the passengers laughed. I looked down at my clothes to see something red and icy.

"A slushie? Where are we? An episode of Glee?" I asked trying to scrape off the ice from my clothes. Naeve looked at me with a frown.
