Chapter 137: Arrival

With the Academic year well and truly over, Kurenai and I were able to kick it back and relax~!

...

Is what I wish I could say, but Kurenai went into labor a tad early, preceding her due date by roughly three weeks, entering the hospital and beginning to prepare to deliver her baby.

As for me, I followed shortly after, almost like Kurenai and I were linked by more than just the 'father' of our children.

While I would like to say that being in the hospital with some of the best medical minds Konoha had to offer was a soothing, relatively relaxing stay with little complications...

Again, I wish I could say that.

Kurenai and I were in rooms beside one another, and listening to my raven haired wife screaming in agony as she tried to push a baby out of her body for hours on end was draining and stressful, even more so when Anko was pacing nervously around my room listening to that alongside me.

"Anko, please sit down before I break your legs!"

Snapping at her, I grimaced slightly as that bout of anger messed with my body, though I still felt relatively normal...

Grimacing again as Kurenai let out another blood curdling shriek, I saw Anko grit her teeth as she helplessly stood by the door, likely contemplating whether or not she should go stand with Kurenai.

I, of course, understood the idea of not wanting to be present in such a tumultuous moment, especially when it made you feel so damn helpless to be there.

But, I also understood the idea of being there as moral support to comfort and soothe your partner as they birthed your child...

I wasn't going to force Anko into a situation either way; if she wanted to be present, awesome, if not, I get it.

Just hearing Kurenai screaming in agony was making me antsy and making my heart ache, but the thought of seeing her in such pain made me nauseous.

Sure, we were shinobi who dealt in death almost daily a year or so prior, but not only have we grown closer together, we were creating a family together!

Whilst I was distracting myself with my thoughts, I felt something deep inside me, and without hesitation or an ounce of worry I turned to Anko and said "Get a doctor."

The Snake Charmer froze, her eyes widening as she heard me before rushing from the door, almost colliding with Cameia as she opened the door.

Continuing past the Priestess, Anko rushed away, which made Cameia turn to look at me, her golden eyes meeting mine.

Gesturing towards her, I beckoned her over and grabbed her hand, stilling my pounding heart as best I could as I felt my body preparing for labor.

Remaining silent, we just sat there before a doctor rushed in, alongside a nurse and Anko.

What happened next was a series of long, nearly torturous hours of pushing and pushing, screaming and screaming...

Again, how I wish it was just mere hours.

Instead, I drifted in and out of labor for roughly 27 and a half hours, slowly but surely pushing the little devil child out from my womb and into the world after screaming my throat raw, exhausting myself, and nearly dehydrating myself a few times.

Thank the Sage for Water Jutsu and Healing Jutsu...

After the first hour, Anko couldn't stand it anymore, stepping out into a hall as her brown eyes slightly wet and empty as she listened to both Kurenai and I pushing out a baby over long periods of time.

Kurenai finished first; despite being early, she had a safe, easy pregnancy compared to me, and she was spending time with the first addition to the Mitarashi Family; a Futa girl that she named Akari.

As for me, I pushed on for ten hours after that, before finally, finally giving birth to Anko's daughter.

Although I was dead exhausted when she finally came out, when I finally held my baby girl in my arms I felt rejuvenated, and it was at that time that they rolled Kurenai's bed in, letting us share a room as we gradually recovered.

Smiling tiredly at one another, I looked down at the crying baby and kissed her brow, muttering "Welcome to the outside world, Riku..."

Wanted to keep it short and sweet, whilst also not bother with the details of them actually in labor; again, it's a little hard to write that and make it... interesting lol.

Anyways, say hi to Akari and Riku Mitarashi~!
