Chapter 149: Time Well Spent (Short)

Since it was just the first day back at the Academy, I kept the classes rather tame and left quickly after, my mind aligned with my students as I desired nothing more then to be at home.

Kurenai was the same, and we swiftly returned to the compound that we now called home, entering our house and finding our way towards the garden in the center, where everyone was lounging around quietly.

Anko was sprawled out on the grass, Akari resting on her stomach as they both dozed under the suns warm rays, while Mikoto sat on a bench beside Riku, who was listening to the Uzumaki read a book.

Cameia, on the other hand, was talking quietly with Karin, showing the girl different ways to hold a kunai.

Silently entering, Kurenai and I made our ways over to our daughters, gently lifting them up and hugging them close to us.

Akari giggled as she was awoken by Kurenai, reaching out and patting her cheek as the two red eyed girls grinned at one another, while Riku stared at me curiously before returning her gaze towards the book in Mikoto's hands.

Rolling my eyes at Riku's actions, I sat where she had been sitting and smiled at Mikoto, asking her "How was she today? No problems?"

Shaking her head, the older Uzumaki smiled gently at Riku, who was looking back up at me as she noticed that Mikoto wasn't reading anymore.

"No, none whatsoever. Little Riku is rather tame for a baby; she enjoys playing by herself and reading as well, and she never makes any kind of fuss. Akari on the other hand..."

We both looked towards the chattering baby in Kurenai's arms, who was trying her hardest to 'talk' to her parents; Anko and Kurenai just nodded along as they attempted to decipher her 'words', though they both seemed confused, albeit happy.

Chuckling softly, I nodded before getting up, kissing Riku on the cheek as I walked over to join them.

Thanking Mikoto before asking her to start dinner, I chatted with my wives before beckoning Cameia over, conversing with them all as I asked for them to describe their day and how they felt doing it.

Anko said that she enjoyed it overall, but during the day some moments were stressful, since Akari refused to be on her own, unlike Riku.

Cameia agreed with that, saying that even though it was relaxing to be with the two girls, some parts of the day were worse than she thought.

Besides that, the two did say they also enjoyed having Mikoto and Karin here, since the two helped lighten some of the load of watching over the two girls.

As we spoke, Akari demanded attention from us all, constantly reaching out to grab at someone, which included her sister, who simply ignored her.

The two were such polar opposites that it was rather amusing to watch, especially since you could tell where they got some of their aspects from.

Going inside, we made our way to the playroom and began the process of wearing the two babies out, getting them to play extensively before dinner, where we would let them wind down before putting them to bed, so that we could begin to wind down ourselves.

This was always a part of the day that I looked forwards to, since Akari and Riku never made the ritual boring, and the food was always excellent.

On top of that, when it was all said and done, the embrace of the bed after such a long day was always such incredible bliss, especially when the embrace of my lovers was added on top of that.

Alright, going to do some time skipping from here to the graduation of the class; won't be short, but I'll be doing 'summary' chapters of what happens over the span of weeks/months with some chapters being dedicated to specific events I consider important.

I think that if I don't do these skips I'm just going to lose motivation for this work entirely, since the interactions between everyone in the story, while fun to write, is also just... not enough anymore.

Add onto that the idea of writing an entirely new Naruto fanfic (even though I know full well it wouldn't go far) and I just... need to skip forwards. This has come to far to just be dropped in my opinion, and I still do love it, but...

It's getting a little stale to write, so time skips are about to become the staple for probably 10 - 20 chapters, depending on what I deem needs in depth details.

Anyways, yea, that's the future to come~
