Sayonara

"I'm ready when you're ready, Ames," Wizardo stated.

I hardly convinced Bruce to move out, but after insisting on how gravely necessary it was, he finally agreed.

However, with our movements being monitored, I needed to make it look like we were just discussing something.

After receiving Bruce's nod and his family's, I took a deep breath, turning to face the door.

"On my signal, you know what to do."

"Aye, aye."

I slowly approached the door, turned the handle, and poked my head outside. The guarding crew all stared at me.

"Um," I started, and the lights went out before I could add anything. "I'm sorry," I mumbled before putting each of them to sleep.

"Hurry!" I urged Bruce and his family to move. I had closed the door before the glass window shattered from the pressure of a bullet. It almost grazed me, missing my face by mere inches.

Bruce's daughter yelp and her husband had to pull her close to him for comfort.
