Common Enemy

The man beside me looked like an angel. He was too perfect.

"If you keep staring like that, I'd probably start melting," Jace mumbled, breaking my concentration.

"You're just too handsome not to be admired."

There was a soft chuckle.

"It's quite early to be this sweet."

"It's actually almost lunchtime."

"We overslept?" Jace murmured, smirking as he said it.

"Yeah. But I'm sure Seven will understand."

"Seven is Seven, as usual."

I scoffed.

"I really think he knows about us but is trying to be quiet. And is waiting for either one of us to admit it."

Jace scoffed in return, patting my shoulders.

"I don't mind getting caught. I'm worried about you, though."

I let out a sigh. Our teasing had taken a turn and now things have gotten serious.

"I wouldn't mind it either if we're one step closer to ending everything. I'm sorry that you need to suffer with me like this."
