Arabella stood in front of the vanity mirror in a white night gown. A tear glides down her pale cheek in disbelief and wonder.
The woman in her reflection wasn't her but a beautiful petite woman with deep grey eyes. Her thick wavy brown hair that hung past her hip made her appear much tinier. A small heart shaped face and a pointed button nose. Clear and flawless skin akin to a pure jade.
She appeared to be in her late teens. A stark contrast to her twenty nine year old self. the woman was a little bloated at the stomach compared to her past self tall with a lithe body.
she will need to work on flattening her abdomen.
She had been staring at her reflection for the past hour since she woke up.
Although it was something difficult to digest, Arabella had accepted that it wasn't her.
That she was trapped in the body of a stranger.
She was a hard working government agent who didn't have the spare time to believe in fantasies but now she was living one.
A mind blowing one at that. Something that was unheard of. A phenomenon, she was sure couldn't be explained.
This made her anxiously think about what happened to her body? Where was it? Did she die? And what about the owner of this body? Did she die too?
There were so many questions but no one to answer to.
She paddled towards the huge king sized bed and flipped on it. The silken sheets rubbed against her skin. It was an odd sensation.
Arabella was a decent earner. One could say she had one of the highest wages in her field of job. She had everything she ever wanted. A nice home too.
She took in her surrounding for the room appeared to be too ritzy and shiny. something her plain eyes weren't used to.
A heavy chandelier hung in the middle of the ceiling and shone with golden lustre which was beginning to hurt her eyes. The thick maroon carpets had the richness of those that were sold at auctions for millions of dollars similar to the huge paintings that took over the high ceiling walls. Her eyes narrowed looking at the fishy frames....were they made of gold? Unbelieveable!
Then she recalled something and she jolted to a sitting position at once.
Princess.
His Highness.
Wait...what?!
She heard that right?
Right?
She heard some foot steps outside the room and Arabella hurriedly laid back on the bed before adjusting herself and pulling the comforter up till her waist.
Her heart was banging against her rib cage in panic of the unknown. She clearly remembered when the doctor injected her with something. Probably anesthesia but still!
God! What if she had been reduced to some lab rat or maybe everything is just a nightmare!
She heard several footsteps approach her. She kept her eyes tightly shut but not too tight to give herself away.
Her ears at once perk up at the tap of another pair of shoes. Her sharp senses immediately kicked in.
Tap. Tap.
'A man's foot...a large one...hard soled shoe...a leather one.'
For some reason she felt restless and agitated. Her body was prickling with a sensation that a pair of eyes were boring holes through her. She wanted to jump and run way from this room for being helpless was a feeling she deeply abhorred.
The room was eerily silent. A cold hand touched her bristling fore head and then poked here and there. She had been burning up all this time. She was too shocked to have even felt it.
After several long minutes, the doctor pushed away from her.
"You said that my wife is brain dead then explain this. If I find out that it was gross negligence at your end…" a deep masculine voice resonated from her left. He didn't finish his sentence for he didn't need to. Even Arabella could taste the dark promise of wrath in his tone."Y-Your Highness t-this...I- this is not possible. Brian death is irreversible. it is a very conservative diagnosis and only made when there is no doubt in he findings. we were hundred and ten percent sure about our diagnosis through electroencephalogram and cerebral blood flow test and her highness was unresponsive and flaccid.
"Her brain showed no signs of electro-activity which was not a surprise since her brain was already swollen and there was no blood flow...her highness was dead never to be awaken again..." the doctor explained. he sounded extremely astonished. never in the history of medicine such a soul rending phenomenon happened when a patient came back to life
if...if such a thing was even remotely possible...his eyes shot to the woman...there could be a huge breakthrough in the world of medicine. if they could bring back brain dead patients...they might be able to evade death for all they know.
unbeknownst to the doctor who was getting ahead of himself, the greedy gleam in his eye didn't go unnoticed by the man in front of him.
suddenly, the doctor felt goosebumps erupt all over his skin and the temperature dropped in the room.
he tried to swallow his spit when he noticed the prince approaching him slowly.
a dark shadow was casted over his features making him appear much more scarier and terrifying which sent the doctors flinching in their boots.
he grabbed the trembling doctor by his coat and rested the barrel of a gun that appeared out of nowhere- against the doctor's throat.
the greedy doctor almost fainted at the foreign feel of the cold metal digging into his flesh. he dated not meet the man's eye.
"I know what you were thinking. you will not utter a single word about the nonsense you babbled just now and will keep your mouth shut if you fancy breathing and not rotting in some unmarked grave or help me god...I am go to hunt your seven generations and then one by one they will follow in your foot steps. it will be all your fault."
he threatened viciously with the baring of his teeth and the doctor immediately crawled on his knees and began begging and pleading.
"No! Your highness! I never came here nor did I diagnose your wife. I will forget about today so please spare by family..." all thoughts from earlier were out of the window now. he was not that stupid it seemed like.
"will I ever need to repeat myself?" the man raised his brow and the doctor was scared shit less as he whimpered, "yes! your highness!"
"Adrian!" the man called and another man appears from the shadows.
"throw them out and make sure they stay as obedient as they are now or you know what to do." he meant every single word. he was still unsure about letting these people stay alive. humans were very weak creatures. one day, they will feel their guts swirling with the burden of the secret and will blurt them out just to satisfy their selfish curiosity.
Arabella was frozen stuff on the bed. her ears were almost bleeding from the exchange between the two men and she was utterly horrified hearing those deadly threats. the confidence and surety in his voice as he carelessly promised to eradicate the whole generations...
he was a very dangerous man. a morally grey one at that.
silence ensued through out the room except the pathetic organ in her chest that threatened to lurch out of her chest cavity in fright.
every one in the room was gone now and she hesitantly opens her eyes with fierce determination.
she was going to find an escape and run away.
suddenly she winces when she feels a strange sound cutting through her brain.
'pffffttt'
Arabella didn't even realize that she had stopped breathing hearing someone snicker.
'pfffttttHAHAHAHA'
Arabella's face ashened and she fell off the bed in sheer horror.
did she hear it right?
