'heyyy?! where the hell are you holed up when I need you now?' Raina demanded helplessly but the voice was still taking her nap.
Raina started sweating profusely the further set went from her prisoner room. the four inch royal blue stilettos she was currently donning were hurting like a bitch but she swallowed her pain and walked in two beside Adrian who refused to lead the way as it was presumptuous for him to walk ahead of a Royal lady.
what he didn't know was that Raina Had her heart stuck in her throat because she didn't know the way and after a fiery but awkward reasoning the man relented only when Raina said that she wasn't asking him but ordering him. he gave her weird glances but didn't said much.
what she did know after today was that this man was clever like a sky fox and a she must avoid him if she wants to stay alive and breathing.
it turned out that Raina was kept at the third floor and the room wasn't that far from the study. Adrian knocked twice on the ivory door and entered. Raina hesitatingly followed him inside. her heart palpitating in fear that she might not come out alive.
Azazel was lounging on an executive chair with a laptop in front of him. he didn't bother to raise his head to acknowledge her as if she wasn't worth her time and Raina didn't know why she felt slightly disappointed at that. taking Adrian's lead, Raina took a seat at the couch beside the floor to ceiling window which overlooked the beautiful and lush gardens surrounding the palace. she could spot a few gardeners working here and there and she felt envious of them because they could enjoy such freedom but she couldn't. not yet at least.
Azazel straightened and silently walked over to where she was sitting and took a seat opposite her. seeing her in a daze, he followed her sight of vision. he frowned realizing that she was staring at the gardens with so much awe and longing. his eyes narrowed seeing her hair down and her face free of any speck of makeup. he wondered what tricks she had up her sleeve now.
"Explain." he demanded in a cold voice and Raina almost jolted out of her seat. she was so into gushing over the magnificent gardens below that she didn't even sense his presence, now that she did, it was suddenly becoming a little suffocating. her supposed husband was dressed in the same grey jogger pants with a white t-shirt on now that stretched deliciously over his hard and bulging body. Raina swallowed. instead of admiring his regal looks and noble posture, the woman was beginning to freeze thinking how easy it would be for those biceps to squeeze the life out of her if he found out the truth. she made a spit second decision and decided to tell him the truth no matter what the outcome. living as Raina Khitrov was already wearing down on her. she shuddered thinking about acting and living like some sophisticated Princess all her life. she had rather die.
"I have something to tell you." Raina blurted out and Azazel raised a fine brow at that in mocking.
"I-I don't remember anything. I am not..." Raina. your wife. she wanted to say but it was as if some invisible force was pulling on her tongue rendering her speaking ability useless. she couldn't form any words and seeing her like that, Azazel suddenly bursts into laughter. the sound deep yet chilly and mocking. the woman never changed no matter what and he had enough of her trickery and deceit. he had decided that he was going to sign on divorce papers after he confronted the woman about-
"you have to believe me! i really don't remember anything!" she insisted seeing the look of disdain casted over Azazel's features as if he he thought she was lying.
"do you think you can keep deceiving me like this forever? Raina Godfrey, I am well aware of the kind of evil you are now so don't expect mercy from me when i doll out punishment befitting of a sin such as attempting to murder a royal decedent." he sneers, his voice dripping with venom and undisguised loathing for the startled Raina who had never been on the receiving end of such intense hatred before. she felt dizzy hearing the accusation she had no memory of. did original Raina commit a murder? did she kill someone? royal descendant? oh God...she was doomed.
"w-what do you mean m-murder?!" she sputtered in shock.
"didn't i tell Adrian that she wasn't going to admit to her treachery?" Azazel scoffed, "bring my laptop." he ordered. all the while his eyes were fixed on Raina who was stupefied with her mouth flapping like a fish. Adrian handed the laptop to Azazel with a bow who begin typing over the keys before turning the screen towards her. his empty eyes were fixed on the women, as if trying to catch her red handed. oh he already did that.
Raina grabs the laptop with shaky hands. a video tape from a surveillance camera was paused on the screen. swallowing, Raina tapped for the video to start. it showed a busy highway. a plainly dressed woman walked over the footpath while caressing her stomach. her lips were moving as if she was talking to the life within her. the woman lifts her head and Raina freezes.
it was Raina. the original Raina. she was smiling but it was not a kind one. her hand fisted as she took a daring step toward the highway and Raina had a ominous feeling. her hands turned clammy from nervousness as she began to realize what was about to come. the women's smile widened disturbingly when she spotted a truck approaching. one couldn't miss the maniac glint in her eyes as she took another step and jumped. the hit sent her flying across the road, Raina was horrified. she was traumatized witnessing something so inhumane and cruel.
it dawned on her that original Raina was pregnant and she tried to kill herself and her unborn baby. oh god...how can someone be so vicious and barbaric. she felt her inside burn with sheer disgust and her soul revolted realizing that she was occupying a body that was once capable of such heinous sin.
Azazel scoffed in disbelief seeing the ashen look on her face, he had to admit that she was a very talented actress, even a man as senile as him would fall for her faux emotions and cunnigness.
"you dared kill my offspring? you are really the most vicious and heartless woman i have ever seen. if it weren't for my child still alive in your womb, i would have executed you myself." he spat coldly. he was still keeping the accident in wraps. no one beside him, his younger brother and Adrian knew about the truth. the woman wasn't worthy of such. she deserved to be buried alive.
Raina who was oblivious of the storm raging in Azazel, flinched hearing Azazel words. he thought that she was ashamed and guilty or embarrassed even by what she did but unbeknownst to him, Raina was shooked to the core. gruesome memories from the past begin to flash in front of her eyes forcing her to remember that she too was once at the receiving end of such cruelty.
"I-I dint do it. it wasn't me...I-I don't remember anything...i can never do such a thing..." she mumbled incoherently as she stood up and clutched at her hair. her knuckles white. "i am telling you i don't remember anything! I didn't do anything...I-It wasn't me, its not me." she shook her head in denial. she couldn't fathom the thought of bearing the burn of someone else's action. she couldn't digest the thought that the body she was occupying was that of a murdering bitch who tried to kill her own child.
Adrian straightened in alarm seeing the Princess behaving strangely, he had never seen her lose her composure but then again he wasn't sure it was another one of her tricks to escape Scot-free. he glanced at his boss who was staring at the woman with such hatred and loathing that even he felt pity for the woman. but it was all her fault and it was her fault too that his boss had transformed him to such a cold and unfeeling man. she should be aware that her faux acting wont soften his boss's hardened heart.
just then, his eyes widened when blood began to gush out of the Princess' nose. Azazel hesitatingly stood up, his brows furrowed in confusion.
Raina's head throbbed brutally as if someone was drilling into her brain. she could feel warm liquid trickling from her nose and ears. her nose pricked from a strong wave of nausea and her world tilted.
"Adrian! catch her!"
Azazel watched in horror as the woman fell and smashed her head against the table. blood began to trickle from her forehead and all he could think about was his child as he picked her up in his embrace and rushed out of the study towards the bedroom.
"fetch the doctor! now!" he barked.
