Chapter 2

Eight years later

Violet's Pov

I ran home with Balto along my side. Balto is my rescue wolf. He had a rough time as a pup. His mum died in my arms.

8 months earlier.

Summer and I were running to where we heard snarls and fighting. We came along a female she-wolf and her mate fighting against some other wolves that weren't from their pack. The female had pups that she and her mate where trying to protect but then I told summer to hide the pups and protect them with her life. I helped the she-wolf and her mate trying to fight against the other wolves. We finally had one more wolf but this one was the leader and I was about to attack but then the she-wolves mate went to try and kill it but the Alpha of the other pack was ready and dogged the attack and bit down hard on the other Alphas neck and killed him. The she wolf just collapsed on the forest floor and that was when I was so angry that I saw red. I never get this angry but in rare cases I do but this isn't the worst. I saw the alpha walk to the she wolf and that is when I jumped on the Alfa and fought him. I finally found a weak point of him and jumped on him and then twisted my body so that I had a good angle on where I could bite down on his neck. I bit down hard and tasted the metallic taste of blood and that is when he went limp. I jumped up and went straight to the she wolf and I could tell that if I healed her a bit that she might just be able to survive. So I put my hand out and tried to heal her and when I was done she woke up and looked at me with those sad and regretful eyes of hers, and I knew that she wanted to die and be with her mate but because I knew that her pups needed her I couldn't let her die.

"Why did you save me? I don't need to be saved I would rather die and be with my mate." She said with tears in her eyes.

"Because you have pups to look after and they need you. They would die without their mother" I said tying to reason with her. She then looked around and then said

"I want to die and be with my mate, but you can have the runt of my pack, and the other three will be looked after by the other females. I will tell the beta female that she can look after the other three and after the remaining pack." I looked at the sad she wolf and nodded my head. The she-wolf looked sad and in pain but then her breathing slowly slowed down till there was no breathing. I couldn't look at her anymore knowing I should've done something but I did what the she-wolf wanted.

From that day on we looked after Balto and started to get him used to us and learn to understand us even in our human form. We have got him to understand our hunting techniques and our fighting techniques and more. But any way, Balto and I just finished hunting for food and where heading 'home'. Our home consists of a small den/cave for Balto and Summer and I if we need to stay there because all of our running and a quick escape. In front of the den there is a big oak tree around some bushes, bushes surround the whole place, which makes 'home'. Balto was walking next to me and I heard the slightest sound of leaves breaking, I turned to the noise and saw my little sister Summer in her light grey mixed with darker grey wolf. She is only 15 years old, I saw her try to creep up to me but I just shook my head and then she looked at Balto and I slowly nodded my head and then she creped up on me but at the last second I sidestepped her and she just landed on Balto making them tumble to the ground. I just stood there shaking my wolf head because I was in my wolf form. I was silently laughing but then my hybrid wolf Fee was laughing so much it was giving me a headache.

"Sorry but it is funny how Summer and her wolf Sea thought that they could get near us undetected and how Balto didn't pick her noises either" Valarie said to me.

"Yeah okay it is but that doesn't mean you could laugh so loud but I can forgive you because you are so wise and I do love you even though you can be annoying to me. And I also don't know what I would do without you Valarie." I said back to her. I could feel her wag her wolfie tail and nod her head in thanks and that she loves me to as well as forgiving me.

Summer then was about to jump on me again after she just recovered but just as she was about to pounce on me again I sidestepped her and in a swift movement I grabbed her by the scruff of her neck just before she could injure herself again. She whimpered but then shook herself off and just started to play with Balto who was having fun but then it turned a tad to rough for my liking and plus our kill and there playing was attracting to much attention for my liking. I just started to walk away and I heard their paws running towards me trying to catch up but at the same time playing and messing around. I growled at them and that made them become quiet and actually pay attention to our surroundings. This is all apart out our daily training and it is funny to see her fail at times although she is getting time to play and have fun she needs to know when the time is right and now isn't that time.

"Please Summer get off of Balto because he isn't as strong as us remember he is a regular wolf and not like us. And also, because he isn't as well trained as us and he is younger then us. Just because you couldn't pin me down doesn't mean you can take your anger out on him okay?" I said and asked Summer sternly when I saw Balto look with what only I can describe is terrified and looks like he was just beaten to near death by an alpha that's how scared he was. He is used to the roughness of Summer but she scared him and he wasn't really prepared for it. So, he was practically shaking like a maraca it was slightly amusing. He waited for my signal to get up.

"Fine but can you train me more in combat please" Summer practically begged me. I just nodded my head and taught her a few new moves onto how to hunt animals and food and how to take down some animals as well as helping her to improve what she was doing wrong. It was finally getting late and Summer and I had school tomorrow morning and I need to get up early to go and get some food.

I wake up at 4 am the next morning because I need to find or catch food for Balto, Summer and I. I go and wake Balto up because if I don't he will be mad at me. Picture a mother croc looking after her hatchlings but worse. Yep, that's how mad he gets if I don't tell him I am going out to catch food. He has even yelled at me sometimes because I haven't told him. No, he isn't a werewolf like Summer and I he is a regular wolf. Summer and I can just understand any animal we want or what they want us to hear. It can get annoying at times but oh well. Perks of being a hybrid I guess. I go and wake Balto to tell him I'm off to get breakfast and tell him the usual if I'm not back within 3 hours wake Summer up and go as far away as you can. He just nodded practically saying it was okay for me to go and get food, probably because he was hungry. So, I go outside the den and shift into my snowy owl form and I take off to the skies I search for some food even a herd of deer would be good. I finally found a herd of deer not that far away so I quietly flew down and shifted into my snow leopard form and got ready to kill one of the does... once I killed the doe I shifted to my human from again but with clothes still on and I picked up the deer and took it 'home' once I did that I cooked it up and put the left overs underground and I had to cover the smell. I told the others and told them they better hurry up before it gets cold.
