As I lay in bed next to Erich that night, I thought about Luca’s description of what the Rogue state shifters experienced was like for packs that lost their Alpha and couldn’t find a new one or merge into a different pack. 


“The pack will eventually break into smaller clusters and those clusters will inevitably begin to fight over limited resources and division of labor. And… Kill over matters that an Alpha would otherwise dictate.” 


“Once all of the general resources are gone, then the remaining clusters eventually move back into and survive in nature. As you can imagine, shifters are instinctually survivors, rogues become untrustworthy, violent, and dangerous,” Luca concluded.


“The shifters that infiltrated the kitchen during the dinner were most likely rogues. We didn’t spot them right away because we had other guests. They blended in well,” Erich added.


“Why would they?” I asked, confused.
