Chapter 49: Leena’s Confession

During the final week of our seclusion, Erich returned from a meeting with Luca and delivered a letter from my father. It was unexpected and I didn’t know how to feel as I opened it.

‘Sasha, My Daughter,

Since the massacre at Hamstead, I have had quite some time to think. I thought you perished there and my heart was filled with more anguish and regret than I knew how to handle. I did not want to believe that it was really you reaching out for help. But Caystance confirmed you are alive and well and expecting a child.

I must apologize for not showing you the love and respect you deserved while in my care. I know there is nothing I can say to ever make things right between us, but if you should ever need assistance in the future, please know that I am more than happy to help.

If there is any possibility for reconciliation, I would like to see you again and someday meet my grandchild.
