Chapter 13: Lion's Square

As the night waned on, we eased into ourselves and before I knew it, we were laughing about all sorts of things while finishing off our dinner plates. Darkness had finally taken over from evening, and the lights of Crete turned on, creating an illuminated landscape.

I sighed, composing myself after a good chuckle, looking out at the water. “It’s so beautiful here,” I stated as the waiter retrieved our empty dishes. “I can’t believe I waited so long to come.”

“If you don’t mind me asking, what made you decide to come to Greece?” he asked, taking a sip of his water. I snickered to myself and covered half my face in embarrassment, which forced Tyler to also titter. “What?”

“Oh, nothing,” I stated, still smiling. “I just—it was Aubrey’s idea to come here. She planned everything after I left my job. Well, quit is the better word. She figured we both had the time, with her school being on vacation and me being recently jobless, so I decided…what do I have to lose?”
