Chapter 29: Father, Where Art Thou?

“Olivia…?”

I had heard my name said in that intonation one too many times this week, and I really wasn’t ready to handle another; most definitely when it came along with that voice. Tyler was standing directly in front of me and the coffee I had spilt was now all over his tan suit. He was wearing rectangle shaped glasses that complimented his features in ways that I really, really wished they didn’t.

“What’re you doing here?”

“Leaving,” I stated with a surprise amount of confidence. I had to use everything inside of me to push past him and head for the front entrance, only to hear his footsteps firmly behind me, catching the closing glass door.

“Olivia…Olivia, wait!”

I kept my pace as I moved towards the crosswalk, seeing the lights change from green to red once I hit the corner.

“Sh*t,” I muttered to myself.

Tyler halted as he caught up to me, and he adjusted his jacket while taking a breath. “Olivia, we need to talk.”
