Double-Standard News

Cosmic Pictures. Kid Psychic. Mark Creed. These were the focus of the topic-driven news industry.

The Jaws movie was already an amazing source of success and controversial articles for them.

Like many others, they were blindsided by another movie with a bit more intrigue and ambitious methods.

Because of just one film, its distribution company had the guts to knock on the doors of the world cinema and arrogantly say that this must be shown.

It would have been a laughingstock if it didn't live up to its high starting point! Strangely enough, it succeeded and garnered great acclaim from the masses that have seen it.

Kid Psychic bypassed the hidden rules of the film industry and made a success story out of it.

Cosmic Pictures: The Lucky Start-ups!

With their lucky fluke and shameless stealing of the crowd that Jaws reeled in, it would be doubtful that this little company could keep up its shameless streak.

Kid Psychic: Poisoning the minds of the young!

Kids trying to find ghosts and trying to bend spoons with their minds. Just what sort of education is this brainless film trying to convey?

Kid Psychic: Too fake to fool even the gullible!

Such an unbelievable premise and unrealistic characters make one question the levelheadedness of the people who like the film.

Mark Creed: The trashy director and his one-time fame!

A director with so many failed movies and this recent film would probably be the only high point of his measly career.

These low-tier and brainless articles were being published left and right! Making the Creeds not have to spend much money on advertisement.

Even when said article was meant to defame their work and company, freely published derogatory works are still free publicity!

It would spark controversy in the newspaper-centric populace and curiosity would sink in. An even greater buzz than shark-infested summer waters was created. Which is more than enough to leave the classic shark movie behind with dust from Kid Psychic's dashing trail.

Summergoers were now intrigued to travel the screens due to a ghost-seeing kid, not because of the ill-advertising shark movie that ruined their beach plans.

The shocking earnings of Jaws were suddenly not so shocking anymore.

It grossed 12 million dollars on its opening box office weekend. Breaking the recently broken record within just a span of a week.

All analysts knew that these numbers could not have been achieved if it weren't for the other box office revenue that swept the nation by surprise.

An overseas gross of just over 13 million dollars. The number of currencies that made it reach that amount in USD within such an amount of time was equally shocking.

With about 25 million USD accrued from a 10 million budget, the people behind the making of Kid Psychic must have been able to rest on their laurels.

With such an achievement, there would naturally be article titles putting good words.

Cosmic Pictures: Rising strategies of a rising giant.

Kid Psychic: Socially enlightening and a staple for the supernatural!

Kid Psychic: Only the beginning!

Mark Creed: Turning failure around!

It even got to the point that those derogatory and uneducated writers had to change their stance and wanted to go on their previous target's good side.

Such praising news lines were scoffed at and mocked for being too unfounded and artificial. It was mostly the industry insiders that were still bitter that they had no stake in the 'newer blockbuster' and were feeling bitter about it.

This was mostly the way of society. When you are being praised, they become skeptical. When you are being doubted, then that would be accepted as true.

If it was their film projects that were earning that much money, then they wouldn't even mind the negative reception that the pesky newspapers were giving it.

It was hypocritical and a double standard that would not go away any time soon.

However, when the scoffers and mockers looked at some Cosmic insider facts, those praising headlines suddenly became a testament to what was to come.

It was suddenly revealed to them that Kid Psychic was actually a three-parter! It was also filmed back-to-back-to-back!

If the first movie was already breaking records, then how far would the sequels reach?

Kid Psychic haters, those who view the film as a stain in their eyes or those who genuinely despise it, had their hopes directed on the possibility that the follow-ups would fail miserably.

Moviegoers need not be reminded of the news as the unorthodox trailer of Kid Psychic 2 was already seen by them.

There was no familiar 70s trailer trope but it was still a gem nonetheless.

It showcased an even greater world than the world that the young James knew.

Other psychics had abilities that may or may not be as powerful as his.

There was the Smith grandfather that explains the boy's psychic lineage.

A glimpse of Mr. Smile's nefarious schemes.

And the young and cute James telepathically egging them with the words.

'If you haven't seen the world in my eyes, then you must...

...even if you don't... then see it in the eyes of others.'

The trailer cut short but the provocative feeling that the young psychic was exuding could not be denied.

Alexander's charm was showing through the screens and the audience could practically feel the provocation his demeanor held.

His words were cryptic but his aura was telling them: If you haven't seen the first movie, then you should! The second movie would be even grander than the last and it would be stupid of you to miss out on it.

They were more or less egged by his influencing persona. Non-watchers planned to watch the movie and those that were already fans of the film saved the date on their calendar for next year.

With a cycle of free publicity from the press and paid publicity for the second movie, the Cosmic debut movie had its momentum increase even further.

It was only a waiting game for the Creeds to know just how much they'd earned and how multiplied their 10 million budget will be.

Old Sullivan was the one who was so over the moon and incessantly laughing that the Codename: Inuyashiki project had too many NGs.
