Chapter 16: Definitely Fooled

"Just playing around?" Emperor Yongning laughed.

His youngest son had been frail and sickly since childhood, and very timid too. Normally, it was difficult to get him to say more than a few words, let alone play around with others—it was simply impossible.

Today he actually played around with that little brat?

Impossible, absolutely impossible.

Emperor Yongning rubbed his eyes and looked again.

Jun Yu was crying, crying very bitterly, his face covered in tears and snot. "Big brother, why do you never have time? Do you really have no time, or do you not want to see me?"

"It's not what you think."

"Then what is it like?" Jun Yu cried even harder.

Jun Ning panicked like an ant on a hot pan, "You, don't cry!"

Jun Yu insisted on crying, and not only cried but cried louder and with more tears.

Jun Ning seemed to have no choice, and after taking a deep sigh, he helped Jun Yu wipe his tears and explained, "I don't mean that I don't want to see you. I promise, the day after tomorrow, the day after tomorrow we'll meet here. I'll bring you something tasty. Please don't cry."

Hearing Jun Ning's promise, Jun Yu finally stopped the tears. But afraid of Jun Ning going back on his word, he extended his pinky finger, puffed his cheeks, and said, "We won't leave until we've seen each other, pinky promise?"

"Alright, we won't leave, pinky promise."

Jun Ning extended his pinky and made a promise with Jun Yu.

Though he genuinely felt that this act was somewhat foolish and quite childish, to stop Jun Yu from crying, it seemed that being silly once wouldn't hurt.

This entire scene was caught by Emperor Yongning, who was shocked enough that he could fit an egg in his mouth.

His... his youngest son, indeed didn't seem to be bullied; he was genuinely playing around with another little brat, even seeming a bit coquettish.

And from the look of it, it wasn't forced, it was voluntary.

Goodness, what kind of spell did that little brat use on young seventeen, making him, usually quiet as a clam, revolve around him? And talking non-stop, even.

He must have been deceived.

Young seventeen was still young, pure-hearted, not knowing how to distinguish between good and bad, easily deceived and exploited by those with hidden motives. He can't just watch this happen.

Today, he must capture that little brat and teach him a good lesson, for being so young and learning nothing but mischief and deceit all day long.

He deserves to be punished.

Jun Yu saw that it was about time, pointed outside, "Big brother, if I don't go back now, mother will send someone to find me. I'll leave first."

"You can't forget our agreement for the day after tomorrow." As he was about to leave, Jun Yu reminded him again, not at ease.

"Yes, yes, alright." Jun Ning, like a little adult, patted Jun Yu's head, "You should also cry less from now on. There's nothing in this world that you can't get through."

"I understand, big brother."

Jun Yu walked away, looking back every three steps.

Emperor Yongning, watching his son's reluctant appearance, slammed his thigh with frustration, "Seventeen, oh seventeen, do you know you've been deceived? Just a swindler, why do you hold such attachment?"

But Jun Yu hadn't the faintest idea of Emperor Yongning's thoughts; he still kept looking back every few steps, reluctantly waving to Jun Ning.

Emperor Yongning couldn't bear to watch any longer; he wanted to shrug off Xiao Lizi and step forward to unveil Jun Ning's true face, letting young seventeen see what a scoundrel he really was.

But considering his youngest son's already timid and reserved nature, confronting him directly might scare him, so he abandoned that notion.

He planned to wait until young seventeen was completely out of sight before capturing that little brat.

After seeing Jun Yu leave, Jun Ning didn't linger either. He packed up the chicken bones he had finished eating and prepared to leave.
