Chapter XIV - The Real Reality (2/3)

Varun pounced upon Morpheus as he held out both his hands. Morpheus caught hold of Varun in both hands as Varun tried to grab Morpheus with his mouth, like a hungry beast and tried to bite him vigorously and ruthlessly. Morpheus just groaned softly and tried to keep Varun away.

Varun just smirked and smashed both his legs onto Morpheus' chest as Morpheus let go of Varun. Varun was in mid-air now as he rolled and straightening himself, he pounced onto Morpheus again. Clutching both his hands he punched Morpheus as hard as he can into his gut.

Morpheus pushed Varun away. They both straightened each other, getting ready again. They ran towards each other furiously as Varun dropped to the ground and sneaked behind Morpheus from between his legs.

Morpheus furiously tried to catch Varun as Varun slipped by ducking and lowering his head, he gathered all his energy and head bashed into Morpheus' chest. Morpheus coughed backing away from Varun and Varun didn't feel like giving him a break. Varun rushed in again and just when he was close enough Morpheus grabbed him around his neck.

"Enough fooling around with you," Morpheus said.

Morpheus lifted Varun up and then with all his force smashed him down to the ground. Morpheus picked him up again and threw him away towards the half-sunken house which was just around the corner.

Varun got up howling and floated up in the air as a drop of blue blood (Trigon) floated up front and towards Morpheus. Morpheus just watched as it came towards him and going behind him, it snuck into the opening in the armour. It seemed to burn and Morpheus knelt down to the ground screaming up his lungs. Varun was in his armour again. Everyone ran up to him and helped him.

"What the actual name of the holy hell? He gets Trigon?" Fara asked.

"Oh kill me in your name oh great, Ms. Worthy. I don't decide this, ok? I don't know what the hell just happened in the name of holy Somnus. May his soul rest in peace, by the way. This actually is weird to say, because he didn't have one. But also no offense to him," Varun mumbled on to himself.

"Oh, he got stronger, that's what happened," Jay said.

"We can't win; we barely hurt him before and now…" Aria said.

"One last thing to suggest, if I may," Flint said.

"Oh boy, you are on, if you thinking what I'm thinking," Varun said.

"Which has the probability of one, so yeah brother," Flint said.

"I feel… stronger!" Morpheus said getting up.

"Oh I bet you do," Fara sighed.

"Let's not push it," Varun said.

"My goals are clearer, my path will be easier. I feel it," Morpheus said.

"Morpheus used future sight. I'm dark type so good luck on that working on me," Varun said.

"I will end you, mark my words," Morpheus said.

"Oh, we say otherwise," Flint said. "It's time," he said turning to Maaz.

"Oh boy," Maaz whispered through his teeth, but with a blank expression.

"What? No!" Varun said dramatically.

"What's happening?" Jiant asked.

"Just stop me from stopping them… dramatically. You'll know," Varun whispered as lightly as possible, so Morpheus doesn't hear him with the heightened senses.

"It's time Varun, we must do it, if we want to stop him," Flint said dramatically.

"NO…" Varun said stepping forward to stop Flint and Maaz.

Jiant followed Varun's words and held him, pulling him away from them as dramatically as possible.

Flint and Maaz moved as Morpheus did too; Morpheus was right in front of his machine as the two were parallel to him. Whatever was coming, Morpheus braced himself as he understood something was coming, from all that drama which happened.

Flint and Maaz moved their hands rhythmically and in sync. After a while their hands started torching light out, and they did their rhythmic moments faster and faster now.

Morpheus put his hands up front and braced, unsure of what was coming. And finally the two raised both their hands towards him as if letting out some kind of energy attack. Morpheus just stayed his pace and stood stiff… but nothing happened.

Morpheus looked ahead of him and Flint was just laughing as Maaz just let out a sigh and groan, shaking his head.

"What was even the meaning of all that?" Morpheus asked.

"I can't even believe we would reach until that," Flint laughed.

"Yeah, you are supposedly dumb to even fall for that," Maaz sighed.

"The lights…?" Flint asked and removed a small torch out from his leather gloves.

"And the things which happened…" Maaz said.

"A distraction," Varun's voice came from above Morpheus.

Varun was standing above the machine, equipped with the spear in his hand finally. He jumped down with his spear towards Morpheus; it was too late for Morpheus to move away.

The spear pierced right into the small gap which Trigon had snuck into, just a while ago. It being a very small spot, wounding on Morpheus was imminent and he bled. Varun had struck to Morpheus' back as a ghost now, with the support of his trusty spear.

"My thrusty spear, woo…" Varun said riding on Morpheus' back, with some excitement, which helped him not to puke or faint momentarily.

Morpheus tried like a mad beast, to get Varun off his back, but Varun wouldn't budge.

"What's with the torch?" Jiant asked.

"Varun had them," Flint said.

"Said he has watched 'Lights out' and follows the movie's description. And has two, just in case," Maaz said.

"Bold," Aria said.

"Pussy," Jiant corrected.

"Jiant, a little hand here," Varun called out.

Jiant and Jay stepped forward towards Morpheus and Varun, who were going awry. They concentrated and caught hold of Varun, pulling him with all their strength. Varun didn't let go of the spear and one of the wing (left) came off from Morpheus' back. Morpheus just then pushed the three away.

A deep wound had formed into Morpheus' back, seemingly, the armour's core was really into Morpheus' back. A lot of blood spilled out and Morpheus knelt down to the ground.

"You piss me!" Morpheus said.

Morpheus got up from the ground and opened his arms wide open. Morpheus screamed out of his lungs as, matt blackish-grey scales spread out from the wound and a dragon wing like thing came out and folded up, covering the torn off part of the armour.

Somnus' part of the armour seemed like that of the purest dream. The other part, seemed like that straight from a nightmare. Wasn't Morpheus supposed to be the god of good dreams or something?

Morpheus approached the machine, as if he had never been harmed, and started doing something to it as the three got up from the ground. Everyone joined them and they knew that now they could not win against Morpheus.

"Morpheus… stop," Varun said.

"Or we will have to kill you!" Aria warned, gritting her teeth.

"Oh there will be death. I won't end the sentence with 'it will be you' but, I must say," Morpheus said and pulled a leaver. "I'm not yet done fighting with you!"

The machine started to roll somehow, the middle part of it. And lightning was seen hovering above it as jolts. The lightning got loose and hit far away into the ground. Varun lifted his hands to protect himself and realised his armour was metal.

"Not good. Not good at all. Not a bit," Varun said.

Varun's gauntlets changed just then into a weirder shape as he just watched them with confusion. A lightning finally came their way as Varun's hands were still ahead of him. The lightning hit the new looking gauntlets and sparkling around the gauntlet, the lightning diffused.

"What in the world?" Morpheus and Varun said through wonder.

The machine was still rolling and a lightning came towards Jay. Varun's hands moved but not fast enough and Jay got hit. Jay just fell down to the ground, completely unconscious and crisped by the lightning.

"NO…" Varun screamed and pounced towards Jay.

Varun felt dizzy as he saw Jay on the ground and his head spun round and round as he fell down to the ground too.

As his vision cleared he was there again as the lightning hit his new looking gauntlets. Varun moved his arms towards Jay and the lightning struck again, but this time absorbed into the gauntlet. Varun shook away the feeling of whatever just happened.

"Wow, that was cool," Aria said.

"Go… NOW!" Varun yelled to everyone.

"No way is that happening. We aren't going through this again," Aria said.

"You see that armour? We can't get it off, or we have no idea how worse it'll become. You see that lightning? If it hits any of you, you are just crisp. Can't kill him and will die. I won't lose…" Varun said holding his head and knelt down to the ground, as his vision became hazy.

"Are you alright?" Aria asked kneeling down to him.

"I can't feel my…" Varun said gasping.

The machine was still rolling and the voice attracted Varun towards it. Lightning struck again and Varun's gauntlets absorbed it again. He jolted up the next second.

"I can't lose any of you. This is too risky. Aria… Aria please… it's the duck situation again… please understand me. I'll take it from here, just go away," Varun said.

"What the duck?" Flint asked.

"But you can't win man. It can kill you too, you are metal," Jay said.

"Three times… Alias did tell me about there being other kind of gauntlets called absorbers. I guess this is it. I'll handle it, just go," Varun said.

Lightning stuck far away from them.

"Please… just go," Varun said.

"I trust him… we must go," Aria said.

"Ok," everyone said collectively and started walking away, seeing it as their one chance.

Fara just stood there at a distance from Varun and watched everyone walk away.

"You too," Varun said in a low tone.

"You rule over your team Trigon. But not on me," Fara said.

"I can't just let you stay," Varun said.

"Wasn't even asking," Fara said and approached Varun.

Varun just bent his head down and thought for a moment.

"On one condition," Varun said and removed his right hand gauntlet. "Take this…"

"Ok… hopefully one is enough," Fara said taking the gauntlet.

Fara removed her glove and put on the weird looking gauntlet. Fara just then went into her phoenix trance and things blurred out to Varun.
