Little Chat Between A Knight And A Crown Prince

-------------------------------

Sorry for interrupting, but I just wanted to thank all of you for collecting the novel. It already has more than 65 collections!

-------------------------------

Days slowly started to pass. The Kingdom of Andola was buzzing with excitement because of the sudden declaration of the King. Nobels and commoners alike were impatiently waiting for the opening of the Royal company. Besides this new company thing, they were interested in the knitted clothes.

But for Albert, these days were incredibly boring. Since Bela was helping Anul with the company and Kris was gathering orphan children, he really didn't have anything to do. It's not like he didn't work on new things but you can't plan all the time without doing anything else.

So because of the absence of his knight and maid, he spent the rest of his time when he didn't study, with his mother. Who appreciated the sudden increase in time spent with his son, however she had her duty as a Queen as well.

So in the end Albert's days were quite boring. But after a week and a half, he finally received news that was probably the cure to his boredom. And it maybe will guarantee that his life will never get boring again!

*Knock-knock*

"Come in!"

Albert answered in a bored tone, half lying on all kinds of writings and drawings on the top of the table. He just finished sketching down a theoretically working steam engine.

[A/n: Don't have to be afraid, steam engines won't come just jet! But I wanted to show, just how much he really plans and not just, oh I will build heavy machinery now.]

"Good day my Prince!"

Getting the permission Kris opened the door and came in. Then greeted Albert slightly less formally but still with a deep bow. Which made Albert happy since he really didn't like official greetings. But Kris was stubborn as ever and didn't stop with it, even though asked multiple times in the past to just greet him normally. And sometimes just to annoy him (at least according to Albert) he got even more dramatic and greeted him on one knee. But it seems Albert's constant nagging finally had some effect.

"Good day to you as well! But how come you are already here?"

The now little more interested crown prince asked after greeting him. While lazily motioning him to relax.

"I am done with my task, my prince!"

Kris straightened up and reported, not caring about his lazy tone since he has already gotten used to Albert's antics.

Albert wasn't that interested at first, since even if they worked Kris and Bela visited him sometimes. However, after hearing that the task is already done, his eyes widened a little and he straightened up as well.

"Really?! But I asked for at least 30 orphans!" Asked him Albert in disbelief

"Haha, actually I might have accepted a bit more..."

Kris said while awkwardly scratching the back of his head.

"How much?"

"Well... around a seventy or so..."

Awkwardly smiled and answered in a not sure voice.

"Did you say seventy?!" Albert asked again not believing in his ears.

"Well yes, 74 to be exact, 41 boys and 33 girls in total."

Albert looked at the knight with a stunned face.

'I really underestimated the orphan problem in the country!'

He thought, realizing that even if his father wasn't a bad king and the country is actually improving, it's still the medieval area. And while his life is fairly good in the castle after getting used to it, the people are suffering. Everyday thousands of people die from hunger, cold, illnesses and they can't do anything .

'I have to make Andola into a better place!'

He thought but then Albert's eyes wandered to a big map on the wall showing Andola and the surrounding kingdoms as a whole.

'No...'

Albert slightly clenched his tiny fists and his gaze became more and more firm and determined after looking at the map. He remembered, that just how much innocent people have to suffer and die because of the useless people's useless wars and politics.

'I have to change the world!'

Disgusted by the world, the crown prince didn't only vow to protect his kingdom and its people! But also to change the world! Root out the rotten, plant the seed, and grow it.

Founding a new life inspiration, Albert's determination grew to a new high. Instead of waiting to inherit the throne and then make the kingdom better, he decided to make the whole world better.

"My Prince?!"

The sudden shout woke up Albert from his thoughts.

"Yes, Kris?" The prince looked into the eyes of the knight and asked.

"My Prince, you weren't listening and I wanted to say ugh..."

Kris stopped and hesitated a little but after seeing that Albert is still listening he continued.

"I just wanted to ask that even if you only wanted 30 kids, please don't throw away the rest. I'll even break my oath of knight, just let them stay!..."

To Albert's surprise Kris probably the most stubborn man he knew against his oath as a knight pleaded with him to keep all the orphans. And not just that he wanted to break his oath as a knight. Which meant eternal shame and disgrace, especially to a man like Kris! To him, the knight's oath is more important than his life.

'He must have become very attached to the kids!'

Albert smiled a little, glad that his knight finally found something important in his life other than serving him.

"They were living in the slums without anyone to take care of them! There was no water to drink or food to eat and they were freezing to death! And..."

Albert's smile became more and more crooked when Kris started to talk endlessly about how hard their life was and how they didn't have parents and blah, blah, blah.

"Imagine that how..."

After a few minutes, Albert couldn't tolerate it anymore and interrupted.

"I understand already! Just please stop talking!"

Kris stopped talking and realized that he was acting inappropriately. He became a little embarrassed but he still preserved and looked firmly into the Crown Prince's eyes waiting for the answer.

"Sigh, I wasn't planning to throw them out in the first place. And seeing just how attached you become kids..."

Albert looked at the knight whose face visibly relaxed.

"I decided to let you teach them for a few hours a week?"

A big smile boomed on Kris's face and a few tear drops came out of his eyes. But he quickly wiped them down and deeply bowed.

"I am thankful for the Prince's kindness!"

"No, no I just..." Albert tried to deny it but he was cut in half by Kris.

"My Prince you don't have to be humble! I will serve the highness for my whole life with my best capabilities!"

In the next five minutes, Kris praised Albert nonstop. While Albert became more and more embarrassed.

"Okay, okay I understand but I want to visit the orphans, still today if it's possible!"

Closing down the argument Albert jumped down from his chair and walked towards the door. But his face suddenly darkened.

"I just have to get permission from my mother..."
