chapter 28: Idiots

"How did I die?" I mindlessly mumbled to the darkness.

"Was he so fast that I couldn't catch up? Or was it something else? All he did was reach his palm out to me, right?"

I was surprised. Surprised at how easy it was to take a life, any life, my life. All one had to be, was able to do so, not willing nor determined, just able to take a life.

It was odd, what right does one have to do that?, but then again what right do I have to claim this life as mine? I never granted it to myself nor am I able to say that I deserved it. Well, I can't say that I'm sad nor happy that I died. I don't even think I can call that a death since I didn't feel any pain, I guess he was feeling generous to grant me such a death.

"Hahah." I chuckled at myself. I'm guessing I was meant to be angry at him or something huh?. I shut up, no thought crossed my mind for a while nor did I have the intension to move or open my mouth, I just stared into the darkness. 'Nothing' was all I could call the darkness and probably death as well, I don't know why I was dwelling so much on it since it just happened. I have always wondered what lay after death and I guess I have been granted an answer, 'Nothing' it seemed fitting. Life would grant you all sorts of wonders while death, nothing. I think I now understand why they are two sides of the same coin.

Soon, the sound of footsteps resounded breaking the deafening silence and who else would it be but Orion. He slowly approached me while I was sprawled on the ground and along with him the sound of....dripping? accompanied his approach.

Slowly dragging myself up, I looked at Orion and at what was making that dripping sound. Once I saw it, my body and mind froze. Orion seemingly enjoying my expression raised it and begun swinging it left and right like a pocket watch.

"First time seeing your own head?" Orion spoke with glee. It was obvious his intention was to break me mentally but for some reason the sight of my head in his arms and with a bit of my spine coming out only shocked me momentarily but overall I wasn't that affected, after all I've been bisecting humans and beasts alike, so this is a basic for me.

"Well my expression could be better."

Orion lost his previous excitement and just stared at me in disappointment, 'I guess he's sadistic by nature.', I thought as I looked at him wondering why I wasn't affected but then he suddenly gave up and tossed my head aside and sighed.

"Well, that failed. Haaaaaa..... as of now since you're not away of why you're here or where you are, you are permitted to die only twice by my hands, upon your second death you shall return to your world. There's more you need to know but later."

What Orion had just said answered some of my questions and a few of my theories, but Orion and patience weren't friends, so he continued and what he said next made me put all thoughts but survival at the back of my mind.

"I hope you know how to dodge, parry and counter at the same time because if not, it's time to learn."

With that Orion vanished and my glorified(?) beating begun.

"So you want me to avoid 'corruption' since they are my bound opposite? May I ask what all that even means?"

Nobe and Mother nature(?) became accustomed to each other while Mono was getting his life beat out of him. Well initially once Nobe heard her name, the first thing he said was 'Thank you.' To her. Surprised at the weird gratitude Mother Nature (Who I shall be referring to as 'Nature' from now on) asked why he thanked her.

Nobe then recited his reason which was, for those who forgot, creating the sub-space for his spell, and giving him the 'sensation' of his death if he used mana. Nature, stunned for a moment then recalled the 'Trivial' aid she had granted him. From that point on Nobe felt more comfortable, though not too much, and since she had no obvious intentions of harming him (unlike another motherf**ker) he felt less nervous and as such Nature begun explaining her reason for helping him and this led to his current confusion.

"You see, I had no intention of helping you from the start, after all you weren't the one who was chosen but since you didn't die and the chosen one did. I decided to help you."

'He I was thinking the saying 'Mother nature is impartial' was a lie.'

"I'm kind when I want to be."

'I very sure I never opened my mouth.'

"Your thought's might as well come out from your mouth when your around me."

Nobe's slow ass finally realized that she could hear his thoughts. He was surprised by this since 'mind reading' isn't part of the package for Nature users. Naturally she heard this too but decided to ignore it.

Nobe isn't slow….sometimes, and as of now it's clearly obvious that that a 'chosen' can be replaced and fast. Although he knew this he really couldn't care less, to him it felt like just another huge expectation placed on his back that he never asked for and this was genially of putting for him. But then again since he was chosen, she must have had a reason so it's impossible for her to change her mind after bringing him here and letting him leave, alive at that.

When these thoughts crossed Nobe's mind he couldn't care less about appearances anymore, after all he's still a child and has sometime till the horror known as adulthood beats the peace and happiness out of him.

As such Nobe sighed and got up, Nature was aware of his thoughts all along but was surprised when she saw him raise, but she did nothing else than watch. Nobe casually lifted his chair and pushed his chair a little bit back and sat down again. Though this time his respectful posture was gone, with him receding as much as possible into the wooden chair as he slowly raised his now slightly bored eyes at Nature and spoke.

"How old are you again?."

HAS DEATH AND STRUGGLE LOOKED BEAUTIFUL ?
