Death Bed

They all looked in despair as the people they began to grow a bond with die. A little girl screamed in the distance as two men grabbed her and threw her to the ground. Riot attempted to stand up and grab his gun but Jackal quickly put his hand on his shoulder and shook his head.

"Why.." Riot asked, his face filled with grief. "We haven't been seen yet, let's get out of here. It's too late for her." Jackal responded, his head still pounding from drinking so much. Dozer nodded and helped Riot up. The trio began walking in the other direction.

"There's a emergency exit by the gate down here, let's use that." Jackal stated as he began to pick up his pace. As they reached the door, a bullet flew past Dozers head. Jackal in a panic, opened the gate door and began running. Dozer followed suit and Riot did so soon after.

"Follow this trail, it'll lead us down to a-" Jackal quickly stopped himself as he spotted something. Dozer and Riot did the same and both sighed a sigh of annoyance.

"Hey kiddo's, where do you think your off too?" the person asked, a grin formed on their face. "Screw off!" Riot shouted. "What, do you not remember me?" they asked. Riot grinded his teeth together as he spoke. "Shut up old man, why don't you go fuck yourself and leave me and my team alone!"

The old man chuckled before ordering one of the men standing next to him to shoot Riot. The man shot Riot in the leg causing him to fall to the ground. He yelped in pain as the bullet penetrated his leg.

"Riot!" Jackal shouted as he watched him drop to the ground. Both Jackal and Dozer went to raise their assault rifles but they were quickly told off by the old man.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you. We all know how this will end if you act stupid." He said, a smirk beginning to form on his wrinkled face. "Why are you doing this? Why can't you just leave us alone!" Dozer yelled angrily.

"It's simple really, you and your little adventure needed to come to an end. You are run away lab rats and I will not tolerate this sort of behavior." He said as he then ordered his men to shoot Dozer and Jackal with darts. The pair looked at eachother, both nodding in sync.

Dozer quickly pulled his gun up and began firing. The old man and his men ran for cover as fast as possible as bullets echoed through the area. Jackal using this to his advantage, grabs Riot and wraps his arm around his neck. They began running and signaled for Dozer to follow.

"Forget about me, I'm dead weight..I'll just slow you guys do-" Riot was punched right in the side of the head by Dozer. Riot grunted as he punched him upside the head."Shut up, we aren't going to just leave you. Now lets go."

They ran as fast as they could down the hill towards a nearby road. A 1995 ford pickup soon came into view as they reached the road. Seeing this, they rushed over to it and opened the door. Jackal hopped inside and lifted the center console making room for Riot. Jackal then got out of the truck and helped Riot inside. Dozer hopped onto the truck bed and waited for Jackal to start it up.

"Damn theres no keys...good thing its a old truck." he stated as he ripped the bottom panel off below the steering wheel and began hot wiring the truck. It didn't take long for the truck to turn on. "Haha, I'm glad we have you.." Riot sheepishly said with a smirk. "shut up, if you keep talking you'll just make your death quicker." Jackal said as he looked at the fuel gage.

"Alright we should have enough to get far away from those bastards." he said as he slammed the door shut. Dozer hit the truck twice signaling for Jackal to drive.

Bullets suddenly began to fly past the truck as Jackal pressed on the gas pedal. Dozer reloaded his gun and began firing back.

They soon reached a sharp turn making Jackal sigh. "Hold on tight!" he shouted as he slammed on the breaks and shifted gears. He then turned the wheel causing the truck to drift around the turn. The wheels spun and screeched as the trucked drifted.

He swerved and quickly regained control. Dozer nearly falling out in the process. Jackal kept his foot on the gas from there on.

"Hang in there man, we're going to make it through this.." he said. Riot began to go in and out of consciousness as they drove more and more. Jackal shook him several times just to keep him awake. "Damn it, he's losing to much blood. What the hell did they shoot him with?" he gripped the wheel and took another turn onto a dirt path.

As they drove up the path, Dozer opened the window on the back of the truck. "How's he doing?" he asked. Jackal shook his head angrily. "He's going to die if we don't do something quick." Jackal responded, his voice now deeper than usual.

The team soon pulled up to what looked like a farmhouse. Jackal slammed on the break and hopped out of the truck, rushing to the other side to get Riot out of the truck cab. Dozer hopped out of the truck bed and walked over to Jackal.

"Here I'll help him, you do whatever you gotta do." Dozer said. Jackal nodded and ran up the stairs and onto the porch of the house. Dozer wrapped Riots arm around the back of his neck and walked him up the stairs.

Jackal opened the door and made room for the two to get inside. As they walked inside, Dozer looked in awe as the buildings interior was in decent shape even for being left to rot by the aging of time.

He quickly snapped out of it and walked Riot over to a nearby couch. As he laid Riot down, Jackal slammed the door shut and locked it. He then walked over to Riot and began inspecting his leg.

"He was obviously shot with seven-six-two..but somethings off..the wound isn't normal." he said as the wound slowly turned purple. Jackals eyes widened, his mouth slowly dropping. He stood up and walked to the door, now unlocking it. As he opened the door, Dozer stood up straight and looked at him. "Where are you going?" he asked.

"Going to find a cure" he said, slamming the door behind him. Jackal rushed to the truck and hopped into the cab.

"You best be ready old man, I'm coming for your neck."
