An annoying interaction

After the man called Zhang Wang Lei bother him continuously about him returning the favor, Charles has no choice but to exchange contacts with him so he can notify him if he wants to use his favor.

Zhang Wang Lei continue to chat with him despite his obvious —Charles felt that it was too obvious— annoyance, he only stopped bothering him when the other student he was waiting for came and deliver their food.

Charles fixed his gaze on the two boys in front of him. Both laugh and hit each other while telling puns or stories. "What do you call the highest potato in the potato police, Shiyu?" Is there even potato police? As he chewed his food, Charles pondered. He is unsure whether that is a genuine question or a joke.

"Wait, Potato Chief! I know that! HAHAHAHA! Ai, think of new jokes next time ah!"

Is it really that amusing? Charles' brow furrowed as he listened to their banter. Is he the odd one out who doesn't get what's funny in the context? Charles casts a glance at the person who is about to send him to the hospital.

It's Zhang Wang Lei, right? He pondered. He wasn't paying any attention to him from the moment he spoke to him; all he know is he is lively and chatty.

He reminded Charles of someone. He was the type of person who couldn't sit still when it was too quiet or awkward. Memories flash by, and Charles quickly closes his eyes to stop himself from daydreaming about the past. He should forget what happened in the past.

As he sighs, he put down his utensils and wipes his lips. Charles glance at the two in front of him, eyeing the two of them. Both are normal, nothing practically stands out between the two except that the other guy's height is taller than the other high schooler he observed.

Based on the information he had in his hand, neither are part of the high-ranking students, and neither also join competitions that represent the school. If they do, he would know them for sure. Charles continue to observe them as his ears picked up their conversation.

"Okay, okay wait....okay, why is a snowman called snowman?"

"Why?"

"Because pfft! because hmpfh— because it has snowballs! HAHAHHAH! Snowballs? snow BALLS, you get it? pfft—"

"Hahaha...funny.."

So, a snowman is called a snowman because it has snowballs? Do they? Isn't snowballs a pile of rolled snow, he...don't get it? Is his logic getting rusty or is it a pun joke that has another meaning? Charles frowned slightly, barely noticeable in his indifferent face.

"What? it's funny! HAHAHAHHA! Snowballs? heheheh...so snowwoman has snow boo—"

"Gah! Stop it! look at this man's face. You're corrupting him!"

The one with the bushy eyebrows and monolid eyes pointed at him, Li Shiyu was it? Charles raised both of his eyebrows with a deadpan expression. Zhang Wang Lei and Charles engaged in a staring contest before Zhang Wang Lei gave up and gave Li Shiyu a light punch.

"What? look how you freaked him out!" Li Shiyu laughs as he pushes Zhang Wang Lei's face. Zhang Wang Lei fixed his gaze on him. "How can it be my fault? You just pointed at him!"

Charles sighed mentally before deciding to leave and spend the rest of his time in the library. Zhang Wang Lei held his elbow as he prepared to leave, causing his body to stiffen. His lashes flickered as he attempted to look directly into Zhang Wang Lei's eyes, his voice slightly aggressive, "Wh-what?"

"Ah...so-sorry! Do we— do I freak you out? My jokes are puns, I know, but we're not...ah...bad people?" Charles blinks away, his mind still jumbled as he yanked off Zhang Wang Lei's grip. "No, I'm done eating. I'm going to the library," Charles said, shaking his head.

He was elated as he was able to speak without stammering or anything. He bowed slightly before leaving, effectively ending the conversation. He sighed as he walked out of the cafeteria. Charles chastised himself for stiffening simply by being held; where has his previous indifference gone?!

Charles slaps himself alternately, while continuously reminding himself. 'I have to interact with others, physical touch is normal, okay? I have to prove to them I can live on my own, alright? Social interactions are part of the normal way of living. I have to get used to this.'

He bit his lips and stop at a cold beverage vending machine. Taking out a coin from his pocket, he put it and chose cold water. He immediately open the bottle and drink it to half. Charles sighed as he felt the cold water dousing his dry throat.

He resumes his walk to the library while thinking about the interaction earlier, the embarrassing scene where he stiffens made his fist ball, which is truly humiliating for someone who has the same pride as him.

Charles let out an exasperated sigh, ruffling his black hair. It pisses him off, adding the fact that the other person probably has no idea that his own reaction embarrasses him. He stops and looks at the cafeteria that can be seen from his position, he watched as the door swings open and close a few times, students going in and out of the place.

He was about to look away when he saw the two come out, his gaze crossing with Zhang Wang Lei. Charles's eyes widen, hurriedly looking away. Mumbling in annoyance as he shortens the distance between him and the library, almost running away. "So annoying..."

.

"Is he shy?"

Zhang Wang Lei was perplexed as he watched Charles Evan's disappearance. He wrinkled his nose and rubbed his right ear lightly. "Probably not. Maybe he's pissed off, you look like a pervert, so that could be a reason..." smirked Li Shiyu.

"...."

"Shut up. " Zhang Wang Lei said as he walked away from Li Shiyu. Lu Shiyu can keep himself entertained while he learns about the system and plans his next move to befriend Charles.

"Ah, wait! Take my bag to my room! My next class is science, alright!" Zhang Wang Lei yelled as he throw his own bag at Li Shiyu after taking his wallet and phone. He didn't even wait for a response after he saw Li Shiyu catch his bag and run away quickly.

"Son of a bitch! My next class is homeroom!"
