Under Siege

Chapter 5 Under Siege.

POV Steve Rogers

Outside Washington on a military base, Steve Rogers was lecturing a group of new recruits when his phone started ringing.

"One moment, please." Steve says when he sees the caller ID and proceeds to answer it.

"Hello, is there a problem?" They give me little information about some anomaly in Washington, DC, and that it be addressed as quickly as possible.

"Understood." As the call ends, numerous alarms begin to sound and I hear some high-ranking officers shout orders.

"Everyone to your positions, this is not a drill, everyone to your positions." The commanding officers were yelling when so I approach one of them to get information.

"Soldier, what precisely is happening?" The soldier did not even design to look at me.

"Go to your fucking position…" The soldier yelled at me, but when he saw me he seemed to have recognized me. "Sorry, I didn't know it was you, we have received a distress message from the White House. We are mobilizing the troops." He says and then joins other soldiers boarding the helicopters.

At that moment my phone rang again and when I check it there is some kind of transmission, I see how a child is in the oval office threatening the earth, just when the transmission is cut off.

The helicopters that took off are now plummeting to the ground causing numerous explosions throughout the military base, fighter jets also fall on us.

"Everyone under cover." I scream backing away from the planes falling on us.

"What was that?"

"We are being attacked by some other country."

"Everything electronic stopped working, it's an electromagnetic pulse."

The soldiers chatted while we were under cover. When the situation calmed down we began to help the wounded, a few minutes passed and things started working again.

I try to call S.H.I.E.L.D but to no avail, no communication with them.

I'm in a command tent with other high command military when they yell at each other.

"The rapid response team has fallen due to the strange phenomenon, we have to send another team right now."

"We will send ground units, it will take a while to arrive."

At that moment the communications return and numerous calls for help are heard.

"The White House has fallen, I repeat, the White House has fallen, the President is dead." They repeat on the radio.

"Washington, DC is under attack, reinforcements are called in, the planes that were flying over the city are down and the streets are impassable."

"Damn." One of the commanders hits the table. "Send in the remaining planes and helicopters." The commander reports.

"Sir, that would be a risk if another electronic failure occurs again." Another soldier interrupts.

"If we don't do that, Washington will fall." Says the Commander grabbing his forehead. "That's a fucking order, let's go!" This causes the remaining troops to take their positions and prepare to leave for Washington.

"I'll go on one of the planes, I have to get to Washington as soon as possible." I intervene to which the commander only points out one of the planes that are about to take off, before this, I just nod my head and get on the plane towards Washington together with many soldiers.

"I hope the rest of the team is okay," I whisper.

A few minutes passed and we were already approaching the hot zone when explosions began to be heard in the distance.

Many planes are heading for the city, helicopters, ground troops, and the navy is already landing on the shores along with the sound of the cannons of the armored ships firing toward the city. It's a sight I haven't seen since my time in World War II.

"We're in the hot zone guys get ready to jump." The pilot yells at us as all the soldiers prepare to parachute into a city under siege.

"Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Kabomm!" A childish voice screams, this voice was heard by everyone in the city scaring the soldiers who were with me.

"Don't be afraid, we will get through this." I give encouragement to the soldiers when the plane begins to show turbulence and the planes that are close to us begin to explode and plummet.

One of the Wings of the plane is hit by some kind of artillery and starts to catch fire.

"Jump right now go go go." The pilot yells before the plane begins to fall.

I jump along with the other soldiers and we are greeted with more childish cries.

We landed far from our designated position, therefore we had to locate the child, when we got to the ground the chaos was absolute, people, policemen, and firefighters all had a single objective. Survive.

Abandoned vehicles, soldiers running from one place to another, buildings falling down.

"To the subway, all civilians should head to the subways." Some police officers yell.

"You guys help keep all these people safe." I tell the soldiers who follow me. "I'll go by myself, I can run very fast." At this, the soldiers just nod their heads and give me a military salute, before separating and protecting the civilians.

As I sprint through the streets, missiles fly above me, the sound of the explosions getting louder and louder.

It is not until after running for a long time that I get close enough to the area that I see something in the night sky that I will never forget.

Several meteorites were approaching the city.

I quickly seek shelter in a culvert as the impacts shake the entire city. After a few minutes, I come out of my little hiding place and watch as Thor crashes into some buildings that were still standing, collapsing soon after, as the city burns.

I get to a close distance to Thor and find him about to be strangled by a child, without hesitation I throw my shield in the direction of the child, but my shield only bounces off him, and immediately afterwards he throws me to a very injured Thor.

"We start Round 2." The boy shouts happily with his hands in the air.

"Fight!"

At that moment the boy lunges at us with a smile.
