Isolation Period, Part 3: In The Eyes Of A (Temporary) Runaway Lost Rat

~] CHAPTER - START [~

Elfrieda Boreas Greyrat, second daughter of the current generation of the Greyrat branch in the Boreas house, had unknowingly made herself lost in the forest.

Let's just say that, after she and some of her guards were saved by a strange person with a few, very strange auras emitting from him. One of those auras made her feel very intimidated just by being near him, unlike the guards who were just.... laying on the ground, unconscious due to fear.

That person doesn't really look all that innocent, aside from some hesitation towards probably killing an intelligent being for the first time. After his first kill, he proceeded to kill all the bandits and left none alive with magic that had not used any sort of incantations at all.

When he was done, that person walked away.

He was a strange sight, and even with that strange, intimidating aura, she was still very curious about him.

Anyways, her hometown she was supposed to be transported to, far north of Asura Kingdom, is close.... Maybe....

Should she find that person?

Because all of her guards were unconscious, the coach had died, and the mounts had ran away in fear, she practically had no other choice other than wait for the guards to wake up, or find that person.

Thinking this carefully, maybe she could do something for him. Maybe her family would have a small talk about him and maybe even reward him?

The truth was, she didn't know what to do if she ever wanted to encounter him or he finds out that she's been following him. She also didn't know what her family would say or do about him if she decided to make that person come with her.

And before she realized that she was already following her mysterious savior, she was lost in the woods.

She was overthinking so much things that her body acted directly on instinct and her desire to seek him out.

In her surprise, she quickly drew out her shortsword, hoping that what she had learned from a Sword Emperor who taught her how to survive in the wild as part of her lessons.

Although she wanted to return soon, she felt a tug which made her need to focus on finding that grey haired person for an unknown reason. She had been feeling this tug since she was at 10 years old, but she refused to tell anybody about this strange tug.

But why? Why would she need to find that person?

...

~] ... Two days later..... [~

Elfrieda Boreas Greyrat felt tired and hungry once again.

Maybe she should have resisted the tug if she can? Aside from that, there were no fruits, and the food she ate from cooked monster meat wasn't even good. She couldn't really sleep well, too.

She had walked around the forest for hours, and when she felt another, stronger tug, she was hesitant to move to that path any longer.

But, she still moved.

After a few steps forward, she noticed something strange aside from a cave that was said to already exist.

The strange thing was that, the aura that she felt just by being near this cave was the familiar, intimidating aura.

Gathering some bits of courage, Elfrieda stepped inside the cave, of course, with fear growing deep within her blooming chest.

Surprisingly, the pathway inside the cave was lit by torches stuck on the walls, and aside from the fear slowly becoming thicker and thicker, she kept moving.

She forced herself to calm down each few steps made, until she saw something, no, someone.

The figure was certainly calm, even with that calmness, being looked straight upon by his golden eyes, whose pupils became those of slits unlike the people she had met....

Elfrieda became alert because of the fear she gained when their eyes met, and unsheathed her sword.

In the end, that person wasn't even hostile, nor had shown a bit of hostility, besides, her hunger took over when he just gave her the food he was putting above the fire that was made using normal means. He had introduced himself as Hans Orsted, and he wasn't from any family she knew of, and why he was just staying here like a caveman. His clothes looked very clean, but also looked damaged and heavily patched.

The room they were in didn't look crude, and it looked like they were inside a dome in the cave.

It was a marvelous sight, but the feeling of fear from the person is becoming bearable.

Now, she was getting tired from walking too much, and instinctively rested on a comfortable looking bed, when she did, the comfort she felt on laying down on it while her back was above was so good that she immediately fell asleep afterwards.

Meanwhile, Hans had to refrain from waking her up, rather, he just had to carefully turn her back to the ground....

.... whilst being hit a few times with a fist to the face that doesn't even deal any damage or even pain.

"How interesting, for you Elfrieda Boreas Greyrat, to even try to brave out one of my curses...." Hans whispered, putting a neat blanket on her.

Honestly, how about he just gets out of here, and while he is finally out of the cave, he will invent a magic that suppresses one of his curses? Isn't magic in this world nigh omnipotent, only limited through willpower and imagination of the silent caster?

Aside from that, she actually looked a bit older but as tall as him.

Thinking about what he should actually do next, staying on this cave like a coward made him feel.... weak and very impatient

Maybe he could escort this kid to a region that the current Boreas Greyrat owns, and then simply go outside the world?

Hm, that's a question he can answer next day....
