 Alexa Morgan curled herself into a ball at the corner of her room. They tied her foot to her bed with a long chain. Bruises cover her whole body, and every time she moves, she feels the pain.
She couldn’t stop crying as she remembered what had happened earlier. Her Dad got mad when he found out she defied his instructions of staying in her room. All she did was pick flowers from the garden, but he still found fault in that. He slapped her so hard her lips had split.

‘Ethan Reed… Where did I hear that name before?’ Athena wondered. 


When Maxime saw the news on TV, the glass she was holding slipped from her hands and fell to the floor, which caught Athena's and Marcus’ attention. 


“Maxime, are you okay?” Athena asked worriedly. Marcus hurried and help Maxime pick up the broken pieces of glass. 


“I’m sorry. It accidentally slipped.” Maxime said apologetically. 


“I’ll pick it up. You might get hurt.” Marcus said as he held her hands to stop her from picking up the broken glass. 


“Oh,” she muttered in shock, surprised that he held her hand. “I-I’ll go get a broom and a dustpan.” She stood up and went to the storage closet where the cleaning tools were. 


Maxime returned with the cleaning tools, and Marcus held out his hand to take them from her. “You can bring Athena to the garden. Stephen and her new hypnotherapist are waiting for her.” Marcus said as he swept the floor and turned his back on them.
