Where Is The Trap

His loose hair falling down his back in a silky, bouncy cascade, Howie heads down the hall with Ayke by his side silently, each absorbed in the roaring stream of their thoughts. Ayke wonders what he could be thinking at the moment, but he refuses to ask the question for fear that he will disturb him. He has been disturbed enough like this for a day that has only just begun. Plus, he doesn't know what to say to him to apologize for his mother's behavior.

So he only throws sideways glances at him from time to time with a bit of nervousness. Hands buried in the pockets of his uniform pants, eyes staring straight ahead, Howie is beginning to sense Ayke's anxiety, and the glances he throws at him from time to time make him feel uneasy.
