CHAPTER NINETEEN

From what I was earlier made to understand, Victoria is the daughter of a slave woman who had directly served under the young prince’s late mother. It is undeniably certain that she has lived all the years of her life here in the palace, long enough to know so much about his past.

According to her, the previous king of this kingdom—the late King Erthan—had married only two wives when he was alive.

The young prince’s dead mother was his first, but he never loved her as a husband would love his own wife. He had married her out of parental sentiment – in a bid to seal the long-term relationship their fathers had together as close friends.

Her father had betrothed her from birth to him when he was still young, tender, and naive.

Once he ascended the throne, after the sudden death of his father, he got himself another wife. He showered all his love and attention on her, whereas he despised the young prince’s mother.
