The Interval

All four of them were preoccupied with their thoughts while lying on their mattresses.

'How can he already have someone in his heart and I don't know about it?', 'Will I be able to confess her?', 'How did I forget about that touch?', 'Does he remember me till now?'

They spent the whole night just questioning themselves. The moon got set and the sun rose. It was beautiful when it rose in the morning, but the sooner it began to shine, the scorching it became everywhere. Just like normal days, the University got filled with students and the classes went on. This time Jade had his attention on Rieka while Vicky was struggling with whether to confess his affections to her. During this while, Verona kept on fixating on Vicky out of a fear of losing him, and Rieka seemed to be blithe among these. After passing a few minutes, Vicky finally decided to start a conversation with ease and then express his confession to Rieka. He got relaxed as soon as he decided and when looked at her she was already looking at his place but not him. it was Jade, whom she was slightly smiling at. It made Vicky even more furious, and he started to ask unnecessary questions to Jade excusing his study to make him distracted from Rieka.

After a long wait, at last, the bell rang for a break interval. Vicky thought to start his convo by offering her a snack, so he went out to buy some.

"How is your leg?", Jade heard a very familiar voice from his behind.

Expectedly, it was Rieka, "I could recognize you by your voice. Oh yeah, my leg is alright now.", says Jade with warmth on his face.

"Sounds great, if you're feeling well."

"Yeah, you saved me yesterday and if you wouldn't have held me then maybe I might have missed the most precious thing."

"Wait, what did you just say? I didn't get it."

"I… I meant my leg. It's a precious thing for me at this point of my life as I have a match soon."

"Match? What kind of match?"

"Umm… well, you don't know about it, right? I'm a basketball player."

"Really? I love basketball but I never had a chance to get into the ground.", says Rieka looking at the ground.

Watching Rieka with Jade, Vicky couldn't tolerate it. He squashed the things in his hands and dropped them. He didn't want to give up on her, no matter what happens. He went straight to her making large steps.

"Don't worr…", Jade was just about complete his sentence but Vicky interrupted him.

"Hey girl, sorry for interrupting you but I have something to say."

"Okay, say it."

"I just need you and me in there."

Jade became cold-blooded after listening to that but still quietly left the place but he was a bit nervous because he was the one who saw Vicky getting into her.

"Rieka, I don't like lagging things and I'm getting straight to the point."

"Wait, you're the one from that day, right?"

"Yeah, and that was the moment I fell for you."

"As much I remember, I fell on that day."

"No, neither of us fell but the things in your hands did."

"Umm… yes! I remember now. But wait, what do you mean by 'fell for me?"

"I don't think you are so innocent that you don't know what I mean by that."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. But I don't like these kinds of things."

An awkward silence took place between them. Vicky got startled tallying what he planned and out of anger what he did.

After so much quietness, Rieka spoke, "Look, I have someone in my life to deal with. That's all."

"But you never seemed like you're already into someone.", says Vicky getting flinched.

"I don't want to talk about this anymore. It'll be better for both of us if you leave.", says Rieka rubbing her nails.

Vicky leaves without saying another word and suddenly Verona appears there.

"So, you're the one Vicky has his heart on. But listen one thing, if you're not interested in him then you should've been soft to him but you were so harsh."

"Seems like you love him. if so, then try to convey your heart to him. Don't teach me how to behave.", said this Rieka left and soon the break got over.

Classes were going on but Vicky didn't even give a glance at Rieka anymore. But Vicky thought it was Jade with whom Rieka is in love.

Days passed and things were going on their way. Even on weekends, Jade stayed in his hostel rather than going anywhere but Vicky brushed everything away which hurt him, and was enjoying his life. And Verona, still in a hope of getting Vicky's attention, roams around him like always.
