Target 1: Apocalypse (1)

Taisha found herself in a dimly lit room when her eyes fluttered open. A woman lay dozing beside her, her back turned.

Before Taisha could locate any source of light, a sharp 'ding' resonated in her head, almost startling her to death. She rubbed her eyes as she gradually sat up in the dimness.

[Ding! Good day, Taisha! You can call me 'Boss'! But that doesn't matter now; please run from this area! Zombies are going to attack soon!]

"What? Where am I-" Before Taisha could question her surroundings, the system interjected.

[Ding! I told you we were pursuing presumably powerful individuals, right? Do you think they live in peace and calm?]

[Ding! Get comfortable with such circumstances, Taisha! Wake up, you're already dead, but you still have a chance to live!]

[Ding! Run away from here as soon as possible!]

Taisha realized she had no choice but to follow the system's rules in this world.

Why, for the love of God, can't I just be reborn and not become the Collector of some system? It's impossible that my bad luck continued after death!

As Taisha was about to stand up and leave the room, a blinding flash of light temporarily blinded her.

The door was forced open with a loud thud, accompanied by a burst of light.

This commotion also roused the girl who had been asleep next to her. She sat up, bewildered, and turned to face Taisha.

"What's going on, Taisha?"

Taisha rolled her eyes, wondering why a confused person was asking another confused person this question. Before Taisha could respond, three men entered the room.

"Taisha! Heather! Come on, we have to leave now! The zombies are advancing!"

A handsome blonde man, wielding an axe, spoke urgently.

Details about the blonde man and the woman next to Taisha began to appear in her mind, as if her brain was connected to some virtual reality set.

[David Hiddleston - 18 - Best Friend]

[Heather Sinclair - 18 - Best Friend]

"David, please tell them to hurry up!" Another young man yelled at David with an angry expression, seemingly ready to flee at any moment.

The girl who had been lying beside Taisha was named 'Heather' and now inexplicably held a baseball bat.

Heather frowned at Taisha, who was standing there bewildered, and said, "Get your bat, Taisha!"

"Where-" The system reminded Taisha before she could ask Heather in front of her.

[Ding!] "Below the bed! Below the bed!"

Taisha grabbed the bat and dashed outside with David and Heather.

The outside world was even worse than she had imagined: enveloped in dust, with the constant growling of zombies filling the air, it exuded a sense of desperation.

Taisha could see from the third-floor vantage point that the entire ground was surrounded by roaring zombies, rushing madly toward the humans downstairs.

Taisha heard Heather yell, "Why are you slowing down? Keep running, or you'll become zombie food!"

"Is there no way to combat them? Maybe there are Zombie crystals in them?"

Taisha, who had some knowledge of Zombie Webnovels from her time not receiving customers, couldn't help but ask. Why weren't they trying to collect some crystals?

David's expression turned solemn as he responded, "Did you have a concussion? For the past month, the Principal has kept us locked up on this campus, and the zombies have finally breached our defenses! We have no idea how they work, so all we can do is run!"

The system spoke up in Taisha's head again before she could respond.

[Ding! Stop! Stop! Are you planning a trip to the moon? The mission target must save you here! Don't run away with them!]

Taisha grumbled internally but complied.

[Ding! Does the Collector want to be shocked? If you don't do what I say, Taisha, the Company will!]

{You can read my mind?}

[Ding!] "Yes! So do as I say for the time being!"

Taisha sighed in frustration but stopped running.

"David, Heather, you should leave first with the others! I'll stay behind and try to save our other friends!"

"Stop talking nonsense and run, Taisha! What will I say to Aunt and Uncle if we abandon you? In such chaotic times, we must stick together and survive!"

David said this while pulling Taisha's arm and urging her to run.

[Ding! You have a boyfriend named Thomas!]

Taisha quickly grasped the situation and assured David, "I understand how difficult this is. But I have to find my boyfriend Thomas! Please trust me; as soon as I find him, I will contact you."

David nodded in understanding, and their group vanished from Taisha's sight, leaving her alone.

Taisha gazed at her reflection on the white marble floor.

A young woman with shoulder-length brown hair, common brown eyes, and...well, an average physique.

{System? System! Why am I so ordinary?}

[Ding! "Haha. I thought the Collector had already noticed..."]

{Kindly answer my question.}

[Ding! It's for the Collector's safety! As an ordinary woman, you will not be harassed, taken advantage of, eaten alive and...]

Taisha's face twisted in frustration. {And...?}

[Ding! The Company didn't have enough capital to provide everyone with beautiful bodies.]

{So, I get this?}

[Ding! Yes, Collector, this is what you deserve.]

A loud 'Bang' echoed, cutting off their conversation.

Downstairs, an army of soldiers had arrived, shooting at the zombies.

[Ding! The target is here!]
