James Mills

The Awakening; is a procedure taken by earth to help the awakening of the soul spirit of its younger generation before the age of 15 years. It is believed that the earlier one awakens, the higher their talent and their affinity with mana. James Mills was an orphan who lost his parents mysteriously at the age of 10 and was left with nothing but an old tattered book passed down from generation to generation throughout the Mills family. James was able to get the basic mandatory education from one of the public magical institutes set up by the Earth Federation to help in the enlightenment of young and needy students. But to get into the best magical colleges with the best resources to help in the cultivation of youths, only awakened and talented children are accepted after six years of basic educational training. James happened to be one of the unlucky ones to fit the description of ''useless unawakened humans''. After several years of repetitive awakening tests, James failed to awaken any soul spirit to point him towards any path of evolution. During his first two years after his parents' death when he lived in a shelter provided for orphans by the government, life didn't hit him as hard as it should when there were no expectations of awakening since it was too early for the awakening procedure. He had a lot of friends who helped share the burden of losing his parents. The same could be said for his first three years in the public academy for basic training of young youths. But after the day of awakening when they all turned 15 years, James finally knew the pain of loneliness and disdain. His friends for about 5 years all looked at him with mocking grins and sneers on their faces. He was bullied and laughed at throughout the rest of his stay in the public academy.

''James, a man can be defeated but must never stay down. As far as there is life, there is hope. My son holds onto these words I say dearly to you. It will help you go through this messed up and unfair life'' James' father said to him before their last journey to which they never returned. James held onto his father's last words dearly and underwent the awakening every other year. He continued holding onto those words for hope. But it reached the point that after his 17th birthday, the mocking and bullying just got worse and James finally lost hope in himself. He was continually bullied due to the handsome and natural charm he possessed, due to jealousy of his other classmates even though he was unawakened. Just as usual as any other day, James' former best friend at the orphans' shelter, Andrews with his goons stopped him at the cafeteria. Andrews was blessed to awaken a rare dual soul spirit of the water and life element, with such a combination, Andrews was treated very well everywhere he went due to the high prospects of becoming a healer. In an era where fights and wars continually happened between families, factions, the military, and the earth federation, a healer was a rare find. This prospect went in over Andrews's head making him think he was special. He decided to cut off ties with James due to his newfound status. But James managed to find a spot in the heart of a girl from the orphans' shelter. Tabitha Makarov is the childhood sweetheart of all the boys from James' orphan shelter. She awakened at the young age of 11 years with the spiritual constitution and five different soul spirits; beast, shadow, wood, lighting, and sound soul spirits. The spiritual constitution helped Tabitha to unconsciously refine her mana pathways nearing her becoming the perfect being; without any flaws. The constitution also helped her cultivate unconsciously. Unlike everyone, she stuck close to James even after he failed the awakening several times. This caused the bitter feeling to remain in Andrews's heart. Even though Tabitha left the public academy by 12, James always felt they had a connection with each other.

''Hey unawakened loser, where are you going with the food?? When did pigs start eating the food of humans''Andrews called out to James? James decided to ignore him and move to sit down but Andrews came in front of him and shoved the food into his face. Andrews and his goons started laughing at James' expense.

''I am tired of all this bullsh*t you b*tch, I thought we were friends but I realized you are just a b*tch and someone who will ditch your so-called friend for something as fickle as a potential status.....''James continued to roar in despair as he choked on his tears and spoke to Andrews.

'I've had enough of this, I'll sacrifice myself to prevent bullying from ever happening ever again. After I die, the authorities will put more focus on preventing other cases of bullying' James thought internally as he brought out the poison pill and swallowed it. This was the naive thought of James as he sacrificed himself for the ''greater good''.This was a world where only those with strength and talent mattered. No one would have avenged him maybe except Tabitha, everyone else would have forgotten he even existed. The authorities would have just covered the incident up. Unbeknownst to him if not for a lucky encounter his death would have been meaningless, if Li Feng had not reincarnated into his body.

''So this is what you went through all your life my friend, I'll avenge you and fulfill all your desired wishes.'' Li Feng said as a streak of a tear ran over his face.

''From now onwards I'll be known as James Mills and will not be at the mercy of any other person. So I solemnly swear. All the women and power will be mine and those who will follow me shall tear asunder the heavens and freeze hell if they so wish.''James solemnly promised himself. Unbeknownst to James and Li Feng, they were both individuals without meeting each other will still be able to reach the pinnacle of their talents. Imagine both of them together now, one body and a merged soul:)
