*Pi piri pi pi ri pi*
Guihu Luixing suddenly heard a sound he never had heard before. Even though he never heard it, it wasn't difficult to guess it was a new kind of announcement by the system.
[A bew Upcoming Opportunitiy was detected in the Host's estimated action radius. Do you want to see it now?]
'Ohhh, an Upcoming Opportunitiy! That menu is finally showing some function!'
When Guihu Luixing cleared Mission N. 4, he enabled the use of the system's basic features. They were Fated Status, Storage, Subordinates and Upcoming Opportunities.
In Fated Status, he could see a status window briefly showing the information he learned before, of any [Fated] he saw using his Fate Agent Eyes. Currently in had a little bit of information on Serana, and almost nothing about Roan.
In Storage he could see everything it was stored. It also had the function of storing anything he made direct contact or connected to his Qi, except living, movig beings. Eggs and plants, even though are also living beings, can also be stored.
The Subordinates funcion had currently only one function available: Recruit. It also showed he currently could recruit a maximum of two subordinates.
The Upcoming Opportunities section was the only one completely disabled, until now. it seemed he could finally discover what this function did.
[Purpleblood Immortal Fiend Ressurection
Opportunity type: Tomb Opening (Trap)
Description: A nascent sea expert ran rampant in his evil deeds until a he was hunted down by many righteous organisations. He escaped, but suffered many lethal wounds. Knowing he would not survive, he decided to create a trap to escape his pursuers and possessing a young, talented cultivator, killing two birds with one stone.
The trap is in the format of a Tomb Opening, restricting entry of high level cultivators. While it is a trap, Purpleblood Immortal Fiend is very weakened, and most of his many treasures are inside. Just because it's a trap, it doesn't mean you can't reap advantages.
Opportunity happens in: Approximately four years and a half.]
Powerful!
That was the single thing Guihu Luixing could think. This function was too powerful! Not only would he know ahead of the others when there would be Opportunities, he would be able to know even if they are real opportunities or a trap!
'System, what do you mean by my estimated action radius?'
[It means the area the Host might travel, through normal means. The system calculated and predicted that, in four years, Host's cultivation level should be enough to allow to travel to the opportunity and leave alive, if behaving cautiously.]
'Okay, what about the description? How come you know so much about the opportunity?'
[If the Heavens know, the system knows.]
'Then, are you the will of the Heavens, system?'
[Most definitely not.]
Guihu Luixing felt like the system felt humiliated by that question, so he decided to let it go.
"Do you have any other questions, Luixing?" Guihu Luixing was brought back to reality by his father, who asked him a question.
"Oh...What are the prerequisites to learn a craft?"
"None, really. Even newcomer outer sect disciples may enter one of the pavilions and start learning. Their resources, of course, would be much more restricted than a higher ranked disciple." the headmaster answered.
"What about the limit?" Guihu Luixing continued to ask "Is there a limit to the number of crafts one can pick up?"
"In theory, no, there isn't." His father answered "But crafts usually take a lot of time from someone, and most people to one or two, a few rare ones will pick three. More than that it, the negative impact on cultivation time would be too great, and end up dying of old age before they could become a real crafting expert."
Guihu Luixing started to ponder. He would like to try learning at least a bit of everything, so he could decide his focus. He would also have to find people who were experts in many different fields as he built his organisation.
"Is something wrong, sweetie? You suddenly webt quiet again..." asked his mother.
"No, it's just that I would like to take at least one or two of the crafts, but I cant decide which." the boy answered.
"There's no need to think that hard." Said the headmaster "Every student is free to join a crafting pavilion as a test run. You should definitely try our specialties. You should also try the ones we're good at. You can take a look at our averages, but I don't recommend going to the ones we're bad, it might create some bad bases of thought. If you find an opportunity to learn them later, having studied from people who are bad at it could be counterproductive."
"I see. I'll take a look after the Mountains, Lake and Valley competition." announced Guihu Luixing.
The headmaster nodded his head in agreement. He already knew his son objective of participating in the competition. He really wouldn't have time to devote to crafts if he was serious about it.
"Oh yeah. Father, I remembered I also read about Tombs and the opportunity they have inside. Can you tell me about it?"
"Ahhh. Of course." Said the headmaster excitedly "Tombs are places where experts do their final seclusion. You see, when you reach a certain level of power, you start to contruct your patch, your Dao."
Turning serious, the headmaster continued.
"Many experts, even if their Dao is correct, they are unable to proceed further. Most experts that create a Tomb want someone to come later, inheritebtheir techniques and/or Dao and prove that their path was not wrong, prove their Dao to be correct, to prove their life had a meaning."
"So it's not a thing they do out of the good of their hearts, so they can help the later generations." the boys said.
"Of course not. In fact, all the tombs are born from egoistical thoughts. Some want their worth to be proven by others. Some just want to receive some good Karma so they can have a better starting point on the next life. Some even make their tombs as a trap in order to reincarnate!" the boy's father exclaimed.
"Oh!" The conversation finally reached the point Guihu Luixing wanted. "So people can even use their own Tombs as traps."
"That's right!" said the headmaster with a nod "Even though is the minority, it's not that rare either. You can hear the rumors that a Tomb that appeared somewhere was a trap once in a while."
"Once in a while?" asked Guihu Luixing surprised "Are there that many tombs around?"
"Hmm. When I say once in a while, I mean based on my sense of time. I already lived more than five thousand years, so every fifty years or so would be once in a while. Also, at my cultivation level, my net of connections is really wide, I'm a headmaster, after all, so I can hear rumors from very far." the headmaster said while analysing.
"But yes, there really are a lot of tombs around, but they usually won't show up until the formation or artifact that kept it hidden revealed it." concluded the boy's father.
The boy wanted to ask more, but before he could ask, he was interrupted by his mother.
"Enough! We are having dinner and here you two are talking about traps, dead people and tombs. Have some manners!"
The headmaster promptly made a sign to Guihu Luixing change the topic. The man knew his wife dislikes the topic of tombs.
