Revisiting Scroll Pavillion

After entering the Scroll Pavillion, Guihu Luixing met someone he wasn't expecting to see.

"Mother?!"

"Ah?! Sweetie! Did you come to choose a technique?" asked Antonietta.

"What are you doing here?" asked Guihu Luixing.

"Shortly after you left with your friend, Miss Swift Mist asked me to replace her for a while." his mother answered whith a a smile.

"Can you protect rhe library in case anything happens?" asked Guihu Luixing.

"Hahahahahahaha!" when she heard his question, she couldn't help but laugh out loud "Oh honey, if your father tried to defeat me, all he would get would be a headache."

Seeing that his mother didn't elaborate, Guihu Luixing didn't press the issue further.

"Mother, I'm here to take a look at the techniques!" he said.

"Okay." she took a medal and gave it to him "This medal will allow you to go up to the third floor. Don't try going beyond, or else the ghost guards will attack you."

"Okay." he took the medal an nodded.

"Come!" Antonietta looked towards an empty space and ordered.

Immediately, a ghost showed up, approached them and bowed.

"...Iyesh?" it said with some difficulty.

"Guide him to the first through the third floor. If he tries to go to the fourth floor, remind him he doesn't have access."

"...Iyesh..." the blurry figure seemed to nod.

"Go on honey, this ghost will guide you. The structure upstairs can be quite confusing, so he'll make sure you won't get lost." explained Antonietta.

"Thank you, mother." Guihu Luixing thanked her before following the ghost.

They walked a short while before reaching the first stairway upwards.

"...Kearful..." said the ghost before going up the stairs really close to the right handrail.

Guihu Luixing mimicked him and walked next to the right handrail. When Guihu Luixing realized, he was already on the second floor, even though he didn't remember ever seeing the end of the stairs.

"...Keep...mehdal...in heend..." the ghost gave another instruction.

Guihu Luixing took the medal out of his pocket and kept it in his hand.

The ghost nodded "Fiirst...Floo...Bleeck..."

The first floor looked much larger than the ground floor. Even then, it still was filled with bookshelves, which were in turn, filled with scrolls.

Guihu Luixing went to the nearest bookshelf. As soon as he got close to it, he felt like he had crossed some sort of barrier. Suddenly, Guihu Luixing felt the gaze of many, many eyes. At that time, the medal he held started to emit a soft glow. Noticing that, the gazes withdrew themselves.

Noticing that the gazes were gone, Guihu Luixing let out a sigh of relief. Whatever those things were, they made Guihu Luixing shiver with fright.

On the shelves, there were many scrolls. They were all the same color, blue, and all of them had a black string tying them. This indicated they were blavk grade, water-element scrolls.

The techniques hadany different names, but their use were basically split in three: coat one or more limbs with water Qi and use them to attack, use Water Qi to breathe underwater, drown an enemy or heal yourself or an ally and use Water Qi tp entangle the enemy and turn the water into ice.

There were of course, exceptions and differences between all the techniques, but those were minor.

Uninterested, Guihu Luixing left the bookshelf and went to another. Once again, he felt those frightening and creepy gazes on him, and once again, the medal's soft glow made those gazes retreat.

'Do I really have to go through this every time I approach a different bookshelf?' Guihu Luixing thought to himself.

This time the bookshelf had brown scrolls with black binders, meaning it was black grade, earth elemental techniques section.

Like the water element techniques section, this bookshelf had many techniques that were very similar. Usually they fell into one of three categories, reinforcement of defense, reinforcement of attack and earth burrowing.

Guihu Luixing found the Rock Piercer among those techniques.

Guihu Luixing understood that these black techniques would be easy to learn, but he could only choose one for now and what he needed was a strong technique to decide the duel, as he was an all-round fighter.

That said, it's not like Guihu Luixing thought he would have enough energy to use a Yellow technique more than once. Chances were he would immediately become incapacitated after using the techniques, Hector could only handle using a black grade technique about four times after all, so he believed a green technique to be the most suitable one for him currently.

Guihu Luixing still visited a few more bookshelves, getting inspected by the gazes every time, before heading back to the ghost.

In the end, except some techniques there were unaligned to any element or some techniques that used more than one element, no techniques in this floor caught his fancy. He decided to go to the next floor.

"I wanto to go to the next floor." he said to his guiding ghost.

"...Ieesh...Folou..." said the blurry fellow.

The ghost then proceeded to make a weird trajectory.

He went to the rightmost wall, came back to the staircase, went to a certain bookshelf, took a lap around it, went back to the staircase, moved in a zigzag pattern in a certain corridor and many other strange actions.

Just as Guihu Luixing was about to believe the ghost went crazy, he realized he was already on the second floor.

'This is crazy!' he thought 'I don't even remember seeing any stairs going up! How could this be?!'

What happened was not something his mind could guess, so after some time, hw decided to just focus on finding a technique suited for him.

Even though he basically decided he wouldn't learn a technique that was exclusively of one element, Guihu Luixing still went to several different bookshelves to see the techniques available.

This time, the stares were much more fierce and scary. Guihu Luixing had to bite his teeth in prder to not pass out in fright.

'Just what kind of creatures are protecting the Scroll Pavillion? How scary is the creature guarding the scrolls on the top floor?' he thought to himself. He decided to nit try imagining how fearsome the creatures on the upper floor were, it would do no good to his mind.

As he had expected, no scroll in particular caught his attention on the mono elemental sections.

There were however a few techniques that caught his attention.

The first one was a non elemental techniques. The Qi Impact. The user quickly unleashed his stored Qi releasing a sphere of Qi that blasted your enemies away.

It had a few drawbacks like it needed a little build up time and once used, you would have spent a lot of Qi. But it's advantages were that it was a very fast attack, powerful and very useful in defensive situations.

This technique, however, was not really what Guihu Luixing wanted. He had a more fluid and agile combat style. This technique would require him to break the flow, behaving differently. It would likely alert his opponents that he was doing something big.

The other two techniques however, didn't have this drawback and quite suited his style.
