Soul Link Contract

"Well, just for the sake of reference, there's also the last type of contract..." said Silver Moon with a mischievous smile.

Old Tail looked at his wife and sighed. Antoinetta knew what Silver Moon was doing and just smiled. The headmaster just continued the explanation.

"The last kind of contract is the Soul Link Contract. You could say that the Retainer Contract is a watered down version of the Soul Link Contract."

"It establishes a powerful connection between the contracted souls." Started Silver Moon "From beginning it's possible for a contracted to send short messages and intentions to the other contracted. The contract also constantly strengthen both contracted's Qi and souls. The emotional link between the contracted also tend to grow stronger. This contract is also hard to brack, and very permanent, usually signed by two beings that want to share a life together."

Dark Moon was clearly excited for signing this type of contract, her tail was swinging so fast, it could knock someone out if it hit their faces.

"If this contract is so powerful, why is the Retainer Contract the most used within the sect?" asked Guihu Luixing.

He found it odd the Retainer Contract was the most used, even though the Soul Link Contract provided benefits much greater.

"That's right, Young Master." explained Old Tail "This contract is not widely used because of its demerits and side effects."

The headmaster explained this part "Because the connection it creates between the contracted souls is so strong, it becomes difficult to have secrets. Every cultivator has secrets, and having all your secrets exposed to someone else could mean that cultivator's doom."

"There's also another issue." continued Antoinetta in a serious tone "If one of the contracted dies, because how deeply connected the souls are, the other soul suffers a great backlash. Usually, the partners are fighting in the same battlefield, if one dies, the backlash almost makes so that the other is also dies soon after."

Guihu Luixing finally understood the root of the problem. It was a cultivator's inherent selfishness. Most cultivators cultivated for themselves.

Acquire power, achieve immortality, amass wealth, get revenge. These and many others were cultivator's selfish reasons for cultivating. They cultivated to fulfill their desires or satisfy themselves.

However, the Soul Link Contract made it so they weren't alone. They would be tied to someone else. That someone else could turn to be an anchor that dragged them down and could drown drown or a ballow that pulled you up to new heights.

The thing is that the chance of the partner turning out to be an anchor are greater. Every cultivator, from the beginning of their cultivation road, are taught to don't trust people easily.

There is an uncountable amount of stories of great cultivators, destined to be great powerhouses, only to be stabbed in the back by those they trusted or being dragged down by circumstances and unfortunate accidents.

The Soul Link Contract revealed your secrets to someone else and made your safety heavily reliant on another. That's nearly suicide in the cultivation world. It's completely understandable that cultivators will avoid using this type of contract.

"Well, that's about it." said the headmaster as he handed Guihu Luixing a thin book. "In this book it's written how to make each contract. You two read carefully and decide whether you are going to enter a contract and which one."

After that, the headmaster got up and left the dining room.

"Think about it properly, okay sweetie?" said Antoinetta before following the headmaster out.

"Young Master, don't let my daughter push you into making something stupid. Try to reach something you both agree." said Old Tail, afraid that Dark Moon would push him to do something he wasn't willing, before leaving.

Finally, it was Silver Moon's turn. "Chase yor dreams, honey." she winked at Dark Moon and left.

Only Guihu Luixing and Dark Moon were left.

They were sitting silently, absorbing what was said and what they should do.

Dark Moon was very nervous. She kept thinking about what her mother said, and couldn't help but think that it was her chance to 'claim' Guihu Luixing as hers. That female ghost would have no chance against her.

While Dark Moon was lost on silly delusions, Guihu Luixing was thinking deeply.

The Soul Link Contract was obviously the one who offered the most advantages. He would be passively strengthened and would have a relatively reliable communication method, besides being able to recieve help from distance in emergencies.

The danger of Dark Moon being an 'anchor' to him, while existent, it was much more likely he would be an anchor to her.

His life was bound to be full of dangerous encounters, the probability of him dying is definitely much higher than hers.

Also, the secrets part wasn't a big deal to him. Besides trusting Dark Moon, while his identity as Fate Agent is a secret, the Trial the universe is going through isn't.

The top experts in the universe should have already felt that the universe is taking measures to defend itself from the invaders and the measures it took are definitely dangerous. They might not know about the trial, but they know an humongous storm is approaching and the universe will be submerge in a sea of blood.

It's highly likely that only the top experts and people with vast influence knew the that the whole universe would become a battlefield in the future, but as soon as the Trial Beast began to move, everyone would know.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Dark Moon, let's go to my room."

The silence that reigned on the the room was broken by Guihu Luixing, who reached a conclusion .

Normally, Dark Moon would jump into his arms, and they would go to his room like that, but Dark Moon was too nervous right now. She couldn't even look at Guihu Luixing's face, much less jump into his arms.

Each step she took she became more nervous and her heart began to beat louder and louder. She felt like her heart would jump out of her mouth by the time they reached his room.

While Dark Moon was much more mature mentally than her age, a normal occurrence to Ghost Foxes, she still was very imaginative and liked to fantasize.

She had thought many pink tinted romantic scenarios on her mind by the time they reached her room.

Too bad for her that Guihu Luixing never thought about romantic or sexual relationships before in his life. Her fantasies were about to be crushed.

"Dark Moon, we need to have a serious talk." he told the fox.

Dark Moon almost jumped out of her skin when she heard his voice.

'Is it coming?! What is he going to say? Is he going to confess to me? Should I just accept? I don't want him to think I'm easy.'

She took a deep breath trying to calm down a bit and sat on another mat in front of him.

"I will now tell you something that is very important, not just to me, but to the whole universe. I'm not really who you believe me to be."

That sentence shocked Dark Moon and woke her from her delusions.
