" Boss, our scouts told us the group has 5 girls and 6 brats. They have made some kind of wooden house near the space crack. And he saw that Elina and Maria are also there." The subordinate told Gale with urgency. He was scared to get killed anytime as it all depended on Gale's mood.

"Hm.....the infamous beauties Elina and Maria" Gale creepily licked his lips and snickered. " Send 5 level 3 trashes to them, tell them to kill all the brats and bring all the girls unharmed to me before tomorrow night...Am I clear?" Gale said with cold eyes. He killed all the rebellious students in the university thus gaining level 4. Another level and he will get his class.

The scared subordinate just gulped with fear and went running after bowing. It seems trouble would come directly at Kyle's door this time.

Meanwhile, Kyle was leisurely making necessities for the group. They could have bought things from the shop but the price made it worth it to make things with hard work.

They had killed the goblin groups 4 times now, it was also observed that the number of goblin spawns kept increasing, the last wave had 8 goblins but it was not a problem since their group was very big.

All went peacefully, they all were leveling slowly with everyone reaching level 2 other than Max and Joey who reached level 3. They only needed about 100 EXP to reach level 4.

"I think we should eat something good now other than those fucking chicken legs, it was tasty at first but now...…meh," a girl from Elena's group said.

"No, we have to save cores for the future, with the increase in the number of goblins each spawn, we have to buy weapons from the shop one day and you have seen the prices, right..?" Elena said with a dismissive tone. She also wanted to eat something else but it was a dumb move.

Kyle was making things here and there helping on a daily basis, they found a clear water lake near their settlement so the usage of cores to buy water was now solved.

Like that, at nightfall, boys went in their tent and girls in theirs.

Near their tents, around 5 differently featured people were observing them from afar. They were fuming from anger, jealousy, and envy seeing their lifestyle.

"I will fuck their happy-happy life, who dare they have such a lavish life here alone while we are working for our lives in the University," A broad-shouldered 17-year-old boy said while gritting his teeth, he looked like the leader of the small group.

"Yeah, it seems they all have slept, we should go kill those fucking brats in their sleep." Another said from the side.

"Then it's done, we will observe for thirty more minutes then attack, clear?" The bulky man told in an affirmative tone to which all 4 nodded.

At the same time, Kyle was fidgeting with his system and once again a notification came.

[ Hostility detected towards the host]

Kyle had been getting this message since the whole day, He had bought the ' hostility detection' skill from the shop, it was only worth 7 red cores.

"Hey, Max get up.." Kyle started waking up Max in a hurry.

"What happened..?" Max asked in a half-sleepy voice.

"I got the message again..." Kyle said with worry. Max's eyes widened and stood up in hurry.

"I will go check outside," Max said before leaving. Kyle went with him.

Coincidentally, it was the same time when those five sneakily approached the tent.

When Max left the tent, he saw 5 people approaching their tent at a slow pace. He saw them and furrowed his brows.

"Who are you all...?" Max asked with a threatening tone while taking the spear out of his inventory. The leader of the group's eyes widened.

'Shit, Why is he here??…..UGH!...I wanted to kill them in their sleep, now what should I do?!" He thought while gritting his teeth. Honestly, it was his first time killing someone. If he did good, he may even be promoted to Gale's inner group.

"We are friends of Gale, we were just checking what you all were doing here. Gale wanted to meet you all, you should come with me." He lied through his teeth. He knew of Max's prowess, he was once beaten by him for just flirting with his girlfriend and he did not want to experience it again.

"Ho....so you are Gale's dogs. Were you the one peeking at us the whole day?" Max asked with ice cold voice, He knew what he will have to do.

All their eyes widened with disbelief. They only had one thought in their mind 'How the fuck does he know??'

Meanwhile, Kyle woke all the others in the tent. He told them everything and they all went out. The girls were still sleeping as they were in another tent.

"Arggh....fuck it, attack them all or we will die from Gale's hand...…. FOR SURVIVAL!!!" The leader said while dashing toward Max.

"FOR SURVIVAL!!!"

"FOR SURVIVAL!!!"

They all roared and attacked Kyle's group.

Max collided his spear with the leader's spear, Max overpowered him in strength and he was sent a few steps back from the force.

Joey and the group also used their great synergy to fight the other 4.

Kyle was observing from behind, he used the inspect skill on the spears n their hand.

'They are bad in comparison to my spears. Wait, I should too fight' Kyle thought and dashed with two daggers in his hand.

The girls too woke up from the commotion and were confused while they were looking at them.

"Who are they fighting...?" Elena asked concerned.

"Don't know but they are in danger, let's go help them" Maria said while looking at Max totally overpowering the other guy. She was concerned for what he will do in the end.

Max was literally obliviating the leader's morale by beating him shitless. But the commendable thing was that he kept getting up again and again.

"Are you a masochist..?" Max asked in a disdainful tone.

"This beating is nothing in comparison to Gale's!!!" He spat blood from his mouth and pounced on Max again.

Max could have killed him several times now but his morals were making him stop again and again. The same time a silhouette came running and made a deep cut on the leader's neck.

Max stopped dumbly looking at Maria, blood spraying out of the neck of the leader making Maria's face color with dark red.

"AARGHHghrughgh" The leader choked on his own blood making him look very pitiable. Max saw this and vomited his guts out.

Everyone stopped and looked at the leader spilling ounces of blood from his mouth. Many vomited on the sight. It was all new for them. They could even be called hypocrites of killing the goblins in cold blood but when it comes for humans, they hesitate.

[Congratulations for killing Human Drax, EXP gained +50] Max got the notification while Maria gained 20 EXP for the killing blow.

"B-Boss..!" one of the men said from their group with a panicked voice. They wanted to avenge his death but when they saw the dead expression on Maria's face like she didn't care that she just killed someone, all rationality just vanished. The first ran, seeing him the second and the others. No one stopped them as they were looking at Maria with complex expressions.

"Why did you kill him...???!!" Max said while shooking her shoulders again and again with his hands.

All agreed with his words and looked at Maria as if she was a monster. But the words left from Max's mouth again left them dumbstruck.

" I was the one who should have killed him....Why did you kill him...? I told you that I will protect you." Max said with teary eyes and hugged Maria tightly.

"I know you wanted to protect me but..... you know my upbringing, Max. I did not want your hands to get dirty like mine" Maria said with a sad expression while stoking his head softly to calm him down.

"NO..! All that's in the past, don't think about all that. Please...." Max said while breaking the hug and looked at her with concerned look.

Maria just shook her head and headed towards the lake for cleaning her face.

All looked at her leaving and no one said anything for a while.

"Guys, We will all talk later, we should bury that guy first before some animal smells the blood again ." Kyle said while patting Max's shoulder.

They all started working to get there mind off the scene that transpired in front of them.

Max went directly towards the lake, he saw Maria there with a clean face watching the stars. She was looking blankly as if thinking something else. He sat near her, their shoulders were touching each other.

"I assume they all think of me as a monster now...Sigh" Maria said without looking at Max.

"You know, you did nothing wrong there. If you didn't do it, I was definitely gonna kill him" Max said with a domineering voice. Maria looked at him a little then she said " I did not wanted you to feel the way I felt back then when I was in that horrendous place. When I saw your eyes, I came to know without any doubt what you were thinking about killing him to protect the others."

Max did not say anything, he placed a kiss on Maria's lips. She looked at him with wide eyes, pushed him a little and asked "Don't you think that I am a monster..."

"Never" Max said with a mild smile on his face. Maria started to tear up a little. Max gave her a soft kiss on the lips. But it was not a good timing at all.

"Ahem..." Joey came from behind them with a mischievous grin. Both Maria and Max became beet red from embarrassment.

"Hey...all are waiting for you to come back Maria, let's go" Joey gave a thumbs up and went back. Maria looked at him leaving.

Soon, they both came back. Maria looked at all of their expression but she was in disbelief as no one was looking at her with disgust.

Elena came running towards Maria and hugged her tightly, "...I was so scared, sorry you had to do that on your own, I promise that I will be by your side the next time."

Maria was confused but when she saw Kyle nodding at her, she heaved a sigh of relief. When Max left, Kyle went and told everyone that Maria had a rough childhood. He did not tell all the things to them saying it was not his place to speak.

"Ya, Maria you saved us back there, Thankyou!" another girl said with a smile on her face. She was Rose Swanson, Vice captain of the basketball team.

They talked for some time, thanked Maria, told Kyle to be more active in fight rather than just observing theirs's and enemy's weapons. Then came the important matters.

"You know, now Gale will come on his own or send someone accustomed to killing or something, he is a cunning bitch." Richard said with a scared face.

"I used inspect on them, they were all level 3s" Another boy said in Joey's group.

"We should level up fast, we were living so peacefully but we forgot that we are in an apocalypse situation. Either we kill or be killed. The most dangerous fights we had till now are with humans like us, we are restricted from our morals." Max said seriously. They made a mistake before that may would have had them killed this day if not for the intrusion of Maria.

" We can't just keep waiting for the goblins, I know their numbers are increasing but not enough. And after my observation, it seems Gale also has a space crack in his possession. He may as well got his class till now, we don't know." All shivered from Kyle's hypothesis. Max and Joey had a determined look while others were just thinking what to do.

"It's time to visit the wolfs then" Kyle said with a cold voice.

"Before that, look what we found..." Richard said while giving a spear and a potion looking vile to Kyle"

This potion is a healing item that restores 10 HP instantly after use. The whole liquid is to be drunk for the effect to take place.

"Wow....he got some pretty good stuff. This potion is sold in the store for 8 red cores. And the spear is from the space crack which spawns lizardmen " Kyle said while showing the spear and potion to everyone.

They talked for a while and then went to their respective tents. Nobody slept that night, they just wanted the night to go to start their journey with a fresh start.

In the morning, all of them went towards the wolves den. They didn't want anyone to stay behind in fear of an ambush.

After walking for 10 minutes, they started to see a big cave, around it were about 8 big wolves. They were about the size of the lions they saw in the zoos back then.

"I-I used the inspect skill, five of them of level 3 and 2 of level 4" Kyle said with ragged breathing. He started pondering how they will kill those wolves.

"We got the bone spears with us, we are 11 and they are 8. Joey and I will take care of the level 4 ones and you all get the level 3s" Max said looking at the wolves. He was determined to kill them as he only needed about 100 EXP before getting to level 4.

Max and Joey sprinted ahead from the bushes reaching near the 8 wolves. He smashed his spear's rear on the ground gathering their attention.

"GROWLL..!" The wolves aggressively growled and went on guard seeing the humans in front of them.

"Now!" Max said. Kyle, Elena, Maria, Richard, Rose and others speedily moved ahead towards the level 3s and gathered their attention. Kyle and Maria formed a group and went to one of them.

The wolf tried to pounce on Maria but she had put all her points in dexterity, she swiftly moved left and slashed downwards with the spear making a cut on the wolves front leg.

It whimpered a little, Kyle went behind the wolf. They were going to use the previous strategy again, Kyle thrusted the spear towards the wolves stomach but the instincts of the wolf was too sharp as he dodged the attack swiftly.

It went directly for Kyle's head, Kyle panicked and placed the spear head pointing at front. The spear went directly inside the wolf's mouth coming out from just beneath his forehead.

It started whimpering a lot as blood started coming out his mouth and nose. Kyle went pale at this sight, he felt bad for how gruesomely he attacked but all this happened in an instant.

Maria came forward and stopped the wolves misery by piercing his throat. She looked at Kyle with complex emotions.

'This guy's luck is too good' She sighed and helped Kyle up who was looking at the wolf with a panicked face.

'How can I do something so painful to something' He thought while taking deep breaths.

He had no time to reminisce as he heard a scream from the front. He looked there and his face lost all color.
