Hello and Goodbye.

A few days have passed after Agbayani had been brought onto the boat and met the nameless girl, and Agbayani and the girl continued their seemingly odd relationship where Agbayani's distrust for foreigners caused him to be wary and somewhat aggressive to the girl's advances. There were a lot of times where; although almost, the girl could've been caught red-handed by the crew whenever she provided sustenance for Agbayani. Although Agbayani was still wary of the foreigner girl, due to the persistent kindness she has been showing, Agbayani couldn't help but to gradually trust her. And even if communication seems impossible, the girl overcame the hurdle using gestures which, were hard to understand at first, but Agbayani got used to it after several times of awkward gesturing.

The girl then overheard the crew talking about the new island that they would be landing on after 3 weeks. This gave the girl the idea of leaving Agbayani behind as suspicions regarding a castaway has been brewing up recently. These suspicions of the crew are further strengthened due to the girl's recent actions of constantly being much more obedient, and not having an overall bad mood recently which the crew find suspicious.

This made sustaining Agbayani's needs difficult. If the girl was able to steal leftovers, now, the crew wouldn't leave anything behind which forced the girl to give her food to Agbayani most of the time. Three days passed and the ship finally landed on the island. The girl, excitedly woke up Agbayani only to find him trying to escape as he is being surrounded by 4 crew mates and being restrained by one of the ship's crew mates.

"This darned....now, now just be a good little boy and shut up!" says the man restraining Agbayani and after that, the man gave Agbayani a gut punch, which rendered Agbayani unconscious as it was too much for the young boy.

Right before Agbayani shut his eyes, he witnessed the girl confronting the men, and right after that, the same thing happened to the girl and they both got knocked out cold on the deck. Soon after, the time for landing and negotiating with the locals came and the Captain was planning with the ship's crew. The whole crew has been notified of the whole fiasco that occurred earlier and all of them were telling the captain to sacrifice the two as tributes to the tribe.

"Captain, why don't we just give away the two damn brats from earlier huh? That would be much better than wasting them by feeding them to the fish or executing them immediately!" says the vice-captain, which was followed by murmurs of agreement from the other crew members.

Hearing this, the captain smirks but then, as quickly as it appeared, it was soon replaced by a look of disappointment.

"You idiots. Have you forgotten the fact that the girl would be the priest's slave soon after we arrive back in Spain? Don't you guys realize that if we ever give that kid, away to those barbaric idiots, the priest could have us as well as our families excommunicated!"

Because of this statement, they all came to the conclusion that the boy would suffice as a tribute to the tribe as the boy was young, and had a good looking body for a kid. The girl was awake at this point and she was able to get the gist of their conversation and now she woke up Agbayani and was gesturing to him of everything she has learned. Now, Agbayani knowing what was about to happen, hugged the girl tight and he started to sob. The girl tried to nudge him off as she hears footsteps approaching the container they were in, only to fail as his grip only went even tighter. The girl wasn't left with any choices now and she just went hugged Agbayani as tight as she could and said,

"My name is Diana, what's yours?" while gesturing to Agbayani

Although the language barrier between the two was rendering the communication impossible, Agbayani was able to comprehend what she was saying and said in a weak, stuttering voice,

"....A-Agbayani."

The girl, smiled as the container opens and Agbayani gets taken away by one of the men. She extends her hands forward and starts to cry as well. Agbayani was the last person she could call as her family throughout the journey and now, he was being separated from her. The same goes for Agbayani, it was a heart wrenching farewell for the two. Now, the girl prays to God,

"...God, if you exist, please... I'm begging you.. he's but a small boy, so please.. wherever he goes or whatever he does, let him be able to experience happiness once more."

Diane, who's eyes are full of hope, closes them and looks earnestly to the skies, wishing that her prayer would be answered by God, If he really exists. Now, only time would tell if this hope of a little girl would be granted by the Omniscient, Omnipotent being in the heavens above.
