Valentina

Walking in a pink -ankle-length dress, Valentina Mathews entered the detail-oriented library.

The librarian being her aunt's best friend-cum-sister, had called for her as she needed her help in arranging the new books that have recently arrived.

Valentina gracefully strode towards the old lady and greeted her while bowing her head a little as in to show some respect,'' Good morning Ms.Fitzgerald.''

The old lady as on cue lifted her head and looked into Valentina's entrancing black orbs and replied,'' Morning dear, hope things are going well for you and Anne.''

Valentina nodded her head and replied with a slight smile,'' Yes, aunt, all thanks to the almighty.''

The old lady grabbed the seat for support and got up from her seat and asked Valentina to follow her.

They went to the corner of the large library where six big cartons of books were placed.

Valentina gasped while looking at them and said,'' These are a lot.''

The old lady nodded and said,'' Yeah! I am recently doing research on the fishes and wanted to know a lot of facts about them, My customers also asked me for some books of Collen hoover and all so that's why I had to order them, It includes some guides of mathematics, science, and sst so be careful while arranging them, will you be able to do so?''

Valentina nodded her head but soon replied,'' yes aunt'' as she realized that the old lady wasn't looking at her and couldn't see her nodding her head.

''Good ''the lady replied and added,'' If you want any book you can take'em''

Valentina again nodded respectfully. She was always a person of a few words. Since she was a child, she never spoke much, being an exemplary student with polite nature made her the envy of many girls and didn't help her much in making many friends.

She only had two friends, One was the daughter of ms Fitzgerald, Calista, and the other was Abriella, the three girls were together since they were in grade 1 but they became best friends in seventh grade. Abriella, just like Valentina, is brilliant in her studies.

Calista was extremely bubbly and the type of girl who blurts out anything out of her mouth without thinking twice which always led her to end up in trouble. She is decent in her studies but still gets scolded by her mother sometimes for her grades. Ms.Fitzgerald is an extremely decent lady. It's said that she is extremely good at reading tarot cards and can easily see someone's past and future. She loves to research new things and is obsessed with marine life and often shares the information she reads with Valentina and Calista. She had seen Abriella once, and it was enough for her to come up to a conclusion that the girl was decent.

For the first time in her life, she was proud of Calista for being in a healthy friend circle.

They all study in the same grade and had recently given their final exams and were currently preparing for their entrance exam.

They all had chosen commerce as their mainstream.

Valentina was the wisest and the calmest of them all.

Valentina silently started arranging the books in the right order, after some time she reached the Romantic novels and novellas section.

She for once wanted to read a romantic novel.

But her aunt and the librarian aunt were too strict. Since childhood, the girls were not allowed to watch any romantic drama because their mothers didn't want their daughters to get distracted and commit 'a sin.'

All the three mothers of their daughters were extremely catholic.

They always taught their daughter to dress and behave decently and to work hard and become a financially independent woman.

Rose Fitzgerald, Anne Mathews, and Raffaela madison were the mother of Calista Fitzgerald, Valentina Mathews, and Abriella Madison.

Well, technically Anne wasn't valentine'ss mother but she raised her just like any mother would raise her daughter,valentina was Anne's sisters daughter ,but since the little girl lost her parents at an early age and Anne herself was feeling empty in her life at that time ,so she adopted the little valentina and indeed ,the little ball of sunshine filled Anne's life with happiness,even though she never had a daughter of her own .she considered valentina as the best thing that has ever happened to her in her whole life.

All the ladies had their own sad stories and struggles,

Fitzgerald's husband was a soldier and he died in a terrorist attack when Calista was barely 8 months old, this library was the only sweet memory that she had of her husband, as he helped her in opening this library so that she may not be dependent on anyone for money as he knew that because of him being in military anything can happen to him any moment and he can't risk his wife and his daughter to beg on roads or his wife to sell her body, but still being alone without a man in this orthodoxy society was hard, she and Calista had to hear a lot of bad things but still had to move on.

Anne was valentina's aunt and has made very big sacrifices in her life for her sister and Valentina, she never married but once had a lover, Something very dark happened in the past which made her adopt Valentina as her daughter but Valentina always called her aunt because Anne herself never wanted to take Her mother's place in Valentina's life. Both Aunt and niece worked hard to make a living, Anne was a teacher in a school and Valentina was a worker in a renowned cafe but sometimes she would come to help Fitzgerald as the latter couldn't really trust her clumsy daughter.

Raffaela was once a brilliant student with a bright future, but she gave up something for the first time in her life and is still regretting it the most, but Abriella is like a moon for her in the sheer darkness, the one whom she looks up to.

She loves her daughter a lot and is a very protective mother.

For two hours Valentina was continuously working in the library but she stopped when a cup of hot coffee was offered to her by none other than ms. Fitzgerald.

She smiled and took the cup from her hands,'' thanks a lot aunt''

Fitzgerald just smiled and said.''Needless, dear, come and have a cup of coffee with me, you should rest a little''

Valentina went near her table and took a seat across from Fitzgerald and started sipping on the cup of coffee silently.

There was a comfortable silence, no one tried to break it until...

''How is it?''Valentina looked up at ms rose /Fitzgerald who asked her the question.

''The coffee? yeah, it's strong, just the way I like''She replied.

''Thanks, dear, but I asked about something else?''Fitzgerald said which made Valentina furrow her eyebrows in confusion.

''What?'' she inquired

''Ummm ...did you meet anyone new, yet?'' aunt asked.

''Meet whom, you are confusing me aunt she said and chuckled.

Fitzgerald muttered something under her breath which Valentina wasn't able to hear but she was sure it was something like happen soon''.

But Valentina shrugged off the topic.

''Leave it, and tell me do you like any of these books, if yes then you can take some?''

''Yeah, I would surely ''Val replied.

Fitzgerald kept on staring at her with a far away look in her eyes.

Val felt quite uncomfortable and strange so she got up and said,'' I-I should go a lot of work is yet to be done.''

Her voice broke the old lady out of her thoughts and she nodded her head.

Looking at the back of the girl she muttered,'' soon, queen , soon''
