So the years went by slowly as Lore grew into a healthy young man, now 16 years old to the day, he sat at home celebrating with his parents.
They had an amazing meal and they had lots of fun, but that wouldn't last for long. As just as they where laughing at the cake on Lores face, an ear bleeding scream from outside invaded the family's ears.
The father and Lore both jumped up simultaneously and ran to the window, looking out into the centre of the village, and as they lay there eyes on what caused the screaming, both of them froze for a moment. As standing there outside, was a man sized undead hound, it's flesh half rotted away, but it's teeth still killer sharp as it stands there ripping apart what was most likely a women.
"Shit, Lore!"
"I know!"
He shouted back to his father as he ran to the other room, grabbing 2 swords, he came out of the room and tossed one to his father as they both go to leave the house.
"Please be careful!"
The mother cried out as she hides behind a couch out of site from the windows.
The father and son duo rush out into the centre of the village, now standing about 10 feet from the beast. "God it smells!"
"Yea well it's an undead! Stay focused Lore!"
"Yeah! Sorry!"
He got in his fighting stance. Just as more screaming broke out around them.
"Shit! Lore, can you handle this one? I think there's another!"
"Uh sure..yea I got this, go help em!"
And so his father dashed away towards the sounds of the screams. As Lore stayed back to fight and kill the undead.
As Lore was about to start his battle, his father on the other side of the village, had his eyes wide and jaw open as he drops his sword.
"Your kidding, right? Thats…that's not normal…" he was starring at about 30 undead, there where hounds, skeletons, zombies. Undead orc's. And standing behind them all, was an undead elder dragon, smaller in size but still terrifying.
He quickly turned on his heel and ran back towards Lore and his house.
Meanwhile Lore had just finished off the undead, but suffers a cut on his left leg. It was a quick battle, lore had charged right at it, and when the undead hound leaped at him he rolled under it and attacked it from behind, but when he rolled, the beasts claw dug into the side of his leg, it wasn't bad but it still was affecting his movements.
He looked up and seen us dad, unarmed and running towards him.
"Lore! We need to get your mother and get out of here! There's a fucking army of undead and a dragon! We need to leave now!"
"What?! Damn it, Ok, you go get mom, I'll watch the front, we'll need supplies as-well so be quick!"
The father nodded to his son before entering the house. Meanwhile Lore stood outside with his katana keeping an eye out. But what he didn't see until the very last second, was an undead elf that had snuck up onto the roof, and dropped down on to him while swing a sword at his back.
Just as the blade was about to hit him, the world slowed down. Not freezing but like it was in slow motion.
But Lore was still thinking normally, he had no time to question this right now so he focused on trying to dodge the sneak attack, but when he tried to move his body, he was just as slow,
(Damn it only lets me see and think faster?) he did his best to move his body to the right as the blade was aimed at the left side of his back.
He moved ever so slowly but managed to have the blade no longer coming at his back, he had thought he did it, and for a moment he was excited because he must have just unlocked or awakened his power! But that excitement only lasted another second as he felt a sharp and hot pain running through his left upper arm, still in the slowed down moment he looked over to see that the undead elf had started to cut into his left arm just below his shoulder, and there was nothing he could do, he was barley moving and so was the elf and it's blade, as it ever so slowly slices through his skin, then his bone. He could feel every instant of the pain making his eyes bulge and gritting his teeth.
The pain was unbearable but there wasn't anything he could do to move past this slow and painful moment, he was about to fall unconscious from the shock and pain when he felt a sudden surge of energy, and while the world was still slow, he started to swing his sword that was in his right hand towards the neck of the elf, it was slow, and felt even slower as the blade neared and finally started to
cut through the undead neck as his left arm hits the ground, his Katana cleanly cut through and killed it, the world, or his mind, came back to the normal speeds as he falls to the ground screaming while clutching where his arm was as blood flowed out. Rolling around, as this was the most pain he's ever experienced. He couldn't think calmly either as he got dizzy and started to panic.
His parents now rushed outside to see Lore on the ground bleeding while his arm was about 2 feet away from him.
"Lore!!!" The mother called out as the father ran inside grabbing a small metal blade and throwing it in the fire pit, before running back out and quickly going to his sons side, who had now past out from loss of blood and the pain, the father quickly ripped his shirt and made a tight strand around the injury to slow the bleeding, after that he ran back in and not waisting any time he used his bare hands the grab the small blade from the fire, not carrying about his hands burning as he was acting on adrenaline to save his son. He ran out and quickly places the molten hot blade onto the open wound, it started to sear as they could smell the burning flesh and blood, but after about 10 seconds he had cauterized the wound. And luckily, Lore was still breathing, all be it very shallow breaths but he was still alive. The father quickly grabbed his son and hoisted him over his shoulder, grabbed his wife's hand, and make a break for the forest.
"If we can get through the forest we'll be near the city it's only about a half days travel! We can make it!"
And so he lead his wife while carrying the unconscious Lore, through the thick brush of the forest and after what felt like forever, they broke out into the clearing, there was a stone road and a few people and carts. They quickly ran over to a stopped wagon.
"Can you help us please sir! Our home was attacked by undead! We need to get to the city and warn them! My son was injured aswell, I can pay you if needed but we need to get to the city as soon as we can, my son needs a doctor!"
The old man on the wagon just nodded and pointed to the back on the wagon, making the father smile gratefully as he loaded his son and helped his wife into the back of the wagon.
"Is…is lore going to be alright?"
The mother asked with tears in her eyes.
"He's strong. He will make it. We just need to get to the city quick and find a doctor. They can properly help him."
And so they took off, heading for the city that was about a half a days travel. Both parents praying for their son. And so the 3 sat in the back of the wagon as it road somewhat quickly towards the city. As the old man driving didn't want to be caught up in whatever these 3 people had been through. And so the journey of 16 year old, champion of the vision and foresight God, Lore, would begin.
This marked the first day of the undead attacks in this area.
This was also the beginning of a new battle between light and dark. As the world would try its best to wipe out the humans and people, and the god would try to push back and wish to erase the darkness of their world.
After about a half a day, the sun was setting as they arrived at the city.
"Take Lore and find a doctor, I'll head to the castle and let them know what happened."
The mother said as she ran towards the gates to the castle. Lores father picked the boy up and walked over to the guild hall district. There he could request for aid. And so the parents both went there ways, the mother went and explained to the guards what happened, gaining her an audience to explain it all to the king, while the father brought Lore in to the guild hall and over to the counter in a rush.
"Excuse me! I need help! My son needs a doctor please! I'm not sure how much time he's got!"
A women elf turned around to look at the man and the boy shocked she quickly came around from behind the counter.
"Follow me, we have a doctor and a mage on site right now!"
And so he followed with Lore in hand. As they ran down a hallway. And into a side room where they see an older man and a younger elf boy.
"Doctor Grihan we have a patient that needs help stat!"
"Ok, go get my tools and medicines I'll see what's going on."
Lore was layed onto a bed as the doctor gave him a quick look over.
The young elf came back with a briefcase and a larger black case.
"So…what do you think?" The father asked concerned.
"Well. It's a miracle this boy is still alive. But it seems you may have saved him just in time"
The doctor said checking out the stub where the father had cauterized.
"It will take a while, but I'm sure we can clean this up, and with some medication and rest he should recover soon. So please don't worry. You did well."
The father fell back into a chair as all his energy and nerves finally let up and he felt exhausted from the running and everything that happened.
"If I may, I can lend a hand, I'm a mage in training but I know a few basic healing spells."
The elf boy said.
"That's up to him, he's the guardian. So Mr?"
"Ah sorry, Kindred, and yes anything that will help him please do!"
And so they got started on Lores arm and the treatment. It would be a few hours of work, but this doctor was quite skilled, and with the help of the mage, it was going smoothly.
Meanwhile the mother had returned with news that the king would be sending out a small detachment of warriors to combat the undead. Which gave them some peace of mind.
After about 4 hours, it was early morning and they had finished treating Lore. His arm was cleaned and bandaged properly, as well as healed by the elf. He was given some medication to help his pain and to ease his suffering while he rests. The parents happily gave there gratitude and payed the doctor for his time, they then left across the street to an in, where they would get some rest them selfs.
The young elf said that he would watch over Lore in case anything happens, which made them happy to have a healer watch over there son.
And so after all the hectic events of the day came to an end. The village, there home however had been completely wiped out. They where lucky to have gotten away.
So the parents went and got some rest. While Lore, was having a very vivid, and strange dream. A voice suddenly rang out in his mind.
"Hello, Lore Kindred, my champion. We must speak quickly, As our time, is cut short."
