New Friends

I go into the bathroom and get dressed as quickly as possible. I put on whatever clothes these goons put together, brush my hair quickly and we've got, ten minutes to get to school.

I'm wearing an off shoulder floral white and pink blouse with ripped boyfriend jeans and white sneakers.

"I look like I crawled out of Pinterest Belle." I whine packing my school bag.

Let's go, everyone is in the car." Belle says, already rushing out and I walk over into Margot's room and find her still sleeping.

Must be nice to be in college.

"Why are we stopping to buy Starbucks?" Sloane asks Cameron when he stops by and starts yelling orders.

"Just tell me what you want L." Cameron discards her question.

"Pumpkin spice." She responds and he yells another one.

"Cameron, didn't you have like breakfast at Reece's?" Sloane asks again receiving her drink and we head to school.

"An athlete needs to eat L." He tells her and starts slurping on his drink.

First day was always both fun and exciting. You wouldn't know whether you'll get any new students or not. I'm just glad that there isn't a lot of drama at our school. Everyone is nice. Or at least faking it.

"I'm kinda bummed that we're not taking the same classes." Belle complains from the frontseat.

"Well, at least we've got English lit, Accounting and Math." I try to lift her spirits. I look over to Sloane with an encouraging smile, but she's got her head buried in her phone. Scrollingthrough tik tok.

"It's not the same... those classes are mandatory." Belle whines even more. I pinch Sloane's ear and she winces in pain.

"That will rot you brain L, you know that." I tell her off and she just shuts her phone and throws it in her bag.

"Ladies...Welcome back to Old Oak High school." Cameron announces the second he drives through our school gate.

He parks his car close to his soccer idiots and they're allscreaming or jeering or dying I don't know. They sound like dying whales.

"Rivers! You didn't come to my party last week, my little John missed you. Maybe we canmeet in the locker rooms a little later." One of the guys in the soccer team named Brick never fails to hit on me. I roll my eyes and shut the door angrily.

"Fat chance Brick..." I deadpan, making my way to school. Sloane grabs my arm and whispers something in my ear.

"A woman carries her child nine months in the womb and decides to name him brick?" She snickers and I cackle.

"Cameron, Rivers and Richardson are making fun of my name again." The asshat bitches.

"Well maybe your name shouldn't be Brick." He jokes and everyone laughs. Belle is wrapped around one of the guys on the soccer team. So, Sloane and I are the only ones actually going to get ready for class.

"Shit my locker is upstairs!" I exclaim when I look up my locker number on the school website.

"That sucks. It okay. Looks like I'm right..." Sloane says taking a few paces forward. "Here." She opens her locker and I rush up the stairs to mine. I walk up the stairs as fast as I could because class is in 5 minutes. I bump into something really hard, and I almost fall but whatever it is, manages to steady me.

I see a guy, right around my age with get black hair and blue eyes. A little scar on his right eyebrows. His got a nice set of lips, strong jaw and looks at me a little disappointed. And great, he just had to be tall! I can tell he's packing guns under his brown leather jacket cause, I clung on so that wouldn't fall.

"It's not you..." He says looking at me intently. And I get confused.

I compose myself and look at him weirdly, he just stares. "I'm sorry for being awkward. Forget what I said. I'm Walter King, I'm new here." He says in an extremely hot British accent. His eyes tearing through my soul.

"Well, you're going to be a thirst trap." I blurt out and he creases his brows, ah shit. "My name is Reece... Fuck! I've got class in 2 minutes I'll catch you later!" I sprint to my locker, grab my books as quickly as possible and run back down the stairs towards my class. The halls are empty, and I keep cursing. Then all of a sudden I hear this agitating voice.

"Rivers…" Brick sings the pen name he has for me. I take in a deep breath and decide not to let him get on my nerves. "You're just gonna annoy me baby?"

"I'm going to be late for Philosophy! What do you want Brick?" I ask him, my tone clearly annoyed by his presence and I regret stopping and looking at him and his smug smirk.

"Just checking to see when you're free for our date?" He genuinely asks me and I start to feel pity when I see his honey brown eyes soften. No Reece, focus! Brick is a brick, just a stupid brick.

"You and I are never happening, the sooner you get that out of your head the better!" I scoff, swiveling on my heel but he holds my arm.

"C'mon, you know how many girls would kill to be you right now?" Now we're back to his cocky jock like behavior.

"Clearly I am unaware, well then excuse me kind sir, I'd like to withdraw from that position and…" I forcefully pull my arm away from his strong grip. "Get you hand off me!" I click my tongue and start walking to my classroom really fast.

I hate guys like Brick that feel like they've got some moronic claim over someone just because it plays well with the stupid little narrative going through their heads… I roll my eyes and turn a couple of corners before I arrive.

I get to my class and knock on the door. A young man around his twenties with red hair and hazel eyes, opens the door for me.

"I'm sorry! I was getting my stuff upstairs. It won't happen again." I blurt out and the teachersmiles and says

"It's okay. There's a seat right there." I walk into class and my seat is right infront of the new guy.

This will be fun.
