Impasse

It wasn't her imagination, it really was him. Ari had never been so elated to hear a familiar voice in her life. She was so relieved she ran to him and jumped into his arms and he hugged her back.

"How did you find me?" she asked.

"You have Eileen to thank for that," answered Marino.

"Thank you Eileen."

"Your welcome, dear. I love a good reunion and all but you're not out of danger yet. It seems we have company."

Ari turned around to look in the direction Eileen pointed. She stared incredulously it was the killer, he had found her and Ari thought she had covered her tracks well but he managed to close the gap and catch up to her now.

"No sudden moves. Hand over the girl and I will spare both your lifes."

Eileen said, "I think it's you who read this situation all wrong. Marino do something."

At Eileen's prompting, Marino decided to deescalate the situation. Afterall, he was a fair man and did not see any real need for violence.
