Mint-Chocolate?

To Jake, losing everyone he loved wasn't just painful—it was more like a gate to a black hole that sucks in everything..

He thought he was going to be okay but in end, that too was a lie as well.. In his whole life, he had told more lies to himself than to anyone else..

What was even more damaging to him was the fact that he was all alone, on his own.. No one to care for him, to comfort him, to tell him lies; To tell him that everything is going to be okay..

A boy who was scared of not having anyone by his side was left alone in the cold, dark world..

It was funny that every single time he felt the loneliest, he would close his eyes and open them and see himself surrounded by a crowd—by people..

He wasn't lonely physically.. No one would believe a manic going around, terrified, screaming for help and begging people to save him from his 'craziness' .. They would think that it's just another one of his episodes..

No one would believe a person that different..

Losing Abby was where his nightmare begin..

Yet even those nightmares weren't able to stop him from loving Abby..

He looked at Ms Jane and asked..

"Did.. Did something happen to Abby's memories? They don't seem to remember anything at all"

That question was enough to take her back in time as the memories of the past replayed in her mind like a movie..

Before she could open her mouth to speak and put those memories in words, Abby was back..

"Ice creams are here!" They exclaimed..

Jake couldn't help but chuckled when he saw little lily waking up as soon as she heard the name of Ice-cream..

Abby handed them all their ice-creams..

Jake looked down at his as his cup and once again the memories started flooding back in..

..

14-year-old Jake was sitting alone, sketching a portrait of a cat that was sleeping in front of him.. Nothing about him was special—he was just another person wearing glasses with headphones on, listening to music as drew.. He was just another person who loved drawing and music..

But something about him was unique, unlike anyone else—That was how Abby felt..

They were admiring him from afar when suddenly they had an idea..

"HI!" Abby ran and stood in front of him holding two ice creams.. The sudden movement of Abby was enough to scare the cat who was sleeping peacefully a while ago, making it run away..

Jake was also surprised to see them there..

It was Sunday, he wasn't expecting to them at a weekend—at least not like this..

Jake sighed closing his sketchbook as Abby scared away his 'model'..

"Hehe.. Sorry" Abby apologized to which Jake just nodded..

If it was someone else, it sure would be enough to make jake mad but for Jake, Abby was an exception..

"Here" Abby gave him the ice cream they bought for him..

He chuckled looking down at it..

"Is this...Mint chocolate?"

"Why? You don't like it?"

"Who told you I like Mint chocolate?"

"No one it's just.. I don't know! You just look like a type of person who would prefer this flavour"

A small pout appeared on their face..

"We can swap if you don't like it.. You can have mine.. Its mango flavoured one"

'Cute' he thought as he shook his head..

"People still eat mango ice cream? Isn't it outdated" he teased..

"Hey! Don't you dare!! I love mangos!! And who told you it's outdated" Abby said quickly defending their love—Mangos..

Jake shrugged..

"Weird" he mumbled, loud enough for Abby to hear it..

"Tch.. You're eating mint chocolate, you're the weirdest one here" They almost forgot they were the ones who gave him that..

"And who do you think bought me this flavour thinking I'm a Mint-choco person" Jake asked sarcastically..

"Well, that's... That's cause you look like one it's not my fault" Abby shrugged..

"I mean look at you—You're even wearing a Mint coloured sweater!"

"So does that means.. If one day, I wear a sweater with multiple colours on it, you'll buy me every single flavour that matches all those colours?" Jake raised a brow, teasing Abby again..

Their small little argument continued and they never stopped teasing each other..

They were falling—And they weren't even aware of it..

That's the something about young love that is rare, that is unique..

You won't even realize when, where and how you fell for the most unexpected person..

It is pure and honest and something about it is so special that you may not be able to find in any other form of love..

..

"Mint Chocolate" Jake mumbled looking down at the ice cream Abby bought for him..

"You don't like this flavour?"

Ms Jane laughed..

"Not many people prefer this flavour why would you buy it for him without asking?"

"That's the cause.. He looks like a Mint-choco person" Abby said with a small pout..

For a moment Jake felt like he was 14 again..

"Aw come on sweety, you can't judge someone like that" Ms Jane laughed at Abby's excuse..

"It's fine" Jake couldn't stop smiling as looked at Abby..

"You're right.. I'm a Mint-choco person"

" See! What did I tell you?" Abby turned to Ms Jane who just laughed in response..

Meanwhile Jake was feeling something that was beyond words.. He forgot the pain that he feeling in his lungs a while ago, he forgot how he was struggling to breathe for a while, he forgot the stinging pain he felt when he was digging his nails on his arm..

He forgot everything that was hurting him for a while..

Maybe he really was back to being 14 once again..
