"Oh it's you again" the man said looking at Jake..
He completely ignored Zayn and rushed over to Abby.. He gently placed his hand on the left side of their face, looking at the red handprint on their right cheek— He looked at it with an intense icy stare and he felt his blood boil and his hands clenched into a fist..
Not being able to hold himself back, he got up and landed a punch on his face—It was like as if his body was working on its own making Zayn lose his balance, stumble and fall..
Jake was about to go ahead and throw a few more punches when he felt someone grab the sleeve, stopping him..
His jaw was clenched as he was fuming with anger.. Not being able to control his body, he kicked Zayn twice in the stomach making him groan in pain..
At this point, Abby was almost begging them to stop.. They didn't want him to fight Zayn over them..
Jake grabbed the collar of the man who was on the floor, punching him one more time before dragging him to the door.. He pushed him out making him trip and fall again as Jake shut the door to his face..
"You think it's over?! It'll never be over!! I'll come again haha!! Wait for me you b*tch" Zayn yelled making Abby shiver in fear..
Jake begin to call the police but Abby stopped him..
"There's no use''
"But-"
"There's no use! Do you think that I've never tried reaching out for help!?! I spent most of my life begging people to save me but they just turned a blind eye to everything!! It never works!! It... Never works.."
More and more tears were streaming down their face making Jake's heart shattered..
"I'm sorry" he whispered..
"Why!" They said punching his chest
"Why do you keep apologizing to someone like me like that!! Why.. Why would you"
'I'm sorry.. for leaving'
His thoughts were cut off by Abby..
"Don't.. Don't apologize for something that is not your fault.. They! Should be the one to apologize! W-why would you.." They were sobbing with their head down and their fist placed on Jake's chest..
It was breaking his heart to see them like this .. He hated it.. He hated not being able to help them, to protect them.. He hated causing them so much pain.. He hated himself for leaving..
"Come with me" he said with a soft voice..
"He'll come again.. Come with me for today and tomorrow we can go to the police station and file a proper complaint.. And I promise you.. It will be different this time.. It will work this time.. I'll be here"
'I won't run away this time I promise' he thought..
"Why are you helping me—I know if it wasn't me but someone else you'd still do the same but.. You know what.. I don't need your pity Jake" they said looking up at him with their red tear-filled eyes..
He realized how his simple words have hurt them..
"Yeah of course if it wasn't you but someone else, I'd still help them.. But it's not the same.. You're not someone else ... You're..."
'You're special.. My sunshine..' he thought..
"You're.. someone I care about now.. okay? So, come with me"
They felt a familiar warm feeling—It was familiar yet they still couldn't name it..
Jake knew it may not be the best idea to take them to his home but at least it would be safer than them staying here..
He took out his phone and called Iris..
"You Insane? Why are you calling at this time? And why are you not home yet!-"
"Listen this ain't the right time for that.. listen to me .. What's mom and dad doing?"
"Uh? They're probably asleep .. why?"
"Go check it"
"Bro you're creepy" she said as she walked to her parent's room, peeking in.. They were asleep..
"Yep they're asleep"
"Ok.. Come outside when I text you to .. I'll explain it later"
Before Iris could say anything, he hung up ..
Abby was watching him with a confused look..
"Oh- um- that was my sister.. You can stay with her tonight"
For a moment, Abby couldn't decide if they should go with him or not..
Although he always make them feel safe but would it really be a good idea..
Iris received a text from Jake after a while..
[Come outside]
So she did—She saw her brother holding a kid who was asleep on his shoulder, standing beside an unfamiliar person.. She walked closer and gasped..
"Bro! What the hell! Why do you never tell me! I didn't know you had a freaking family! When did this happen!?"
Her brother's face flustered at her words.. He lightly hit the back of her head..
"Shut up you talk a lot"
"Who are they?" she looked back and forth between the child and the person standing beside Jake..
Jake hesitated but replied..
"Their name is Abby and she's Lily"
He was looking at his sister wondering if she would recognise them or not—But Iris was young when they separated, she didn't recognise them..
"Oh that's a nice name~" she smirked..
"They will stay in your room for tonight"
"Ou~ Why my room?" A smirk never left her face..
Abby was getting uncomfortable with all the questions and Jake knew it..
So he told Iris to take them inside first—And she did..
Once Abby and Lily were inside, Jake grabbed Iris's arm and dragged her to his room..
"Look they're my colleague ok like a friend nothing else.. Don't make them uncomfortable with all your silly jokes and questions just let them have your room for tonight and you can sleep here-"
"There's no freaking way you just stole my room from me just now"
"Yes, I did" Jake shrugged..
"You-!"
"Just.. Just let them stay and in return, I'll do whatever you say for three days ok? Deal?"
"A week"
"Three days"
"Mom! Da-" Jake covered her mouth with his hand as he begin to panic..
"Fine! You win! A week it is"
"Yeah that's what I thought" she smirked once again..
Jake didn't want to disturb Abby so he just texted them..
[Please don't come out of the room.. If you're hungry, call me and I'll bring some food.. And lock the door.. Don't come out even if someone knock at the door unless it's me or Iris]
He knew how his parents would react if they see Abby.. Iris couldn't recognise them, but he was sure that his parents surely would..
