"Well, that's because he's an idiot.. I know my brother.. He's not a person to show- No it's more like he is literally unable to show his emotions.. He thinks that he is the problem and that everyone would be better off without him.. Maybe the reason he didn't say anything to you was because he was scared?"

"But why" they asked..

"You see.. He thinks that if he tells anyone about what is going on in his mind and be honest about his feelings, he'll just be bothering the other person.. He thinks that he can take everything all by himself.. He is obsessed with thinking that he doesn't need anyone.. But that's not true.. It's usually the strong ones who need love the most.. He acts like he doesn't need it—He thinks that he doesn't deserve it but in reality, he needs it more than anyone else.."

She paused for a moment..

"You see.. Our parents.. They never showed him the love he deserved.. They basically stopped recognizing him as their child because he was true to himself—Unlike me.. They still treat me like their daughter not because of who I'm, but because I fit into their image of what a perfect child should be.. They never cared how it exhausts us.. They were never there.. That may be the reason why he became this way"

Iris took Abby's hand in hers..

"Because of them, even I can't give him the love and respect he deserves for being the world's best brother.. But.. Can you.. Can you please do it for me?" She said..

Abby was left speechless once again..

Jake was working when one of his juniors came to him and told him that Ruby wants to see him..

Jake got up from his seat and went to her office..

A woman was sitting on the chair in front of Ruby.. She looked unfamiliar so Jake gave Ruby a questioning look..

"Oh, Chloe this is Jake. Jake this is Chloe—Chloe Flynn"

As soon as he heard that name, he remembered that she was the one he was planning to reach out to.. He remembered that Ruby told him about Chloe when he asked her if she knows anyone who have good knowledge about medicines..

"I know you're busy with the deadline and stuff and you haven't gotten any free time to see them so I thought it would be a good opportunity since she's here today"

"Thanks, a lot!" he said while taking a seat beside her..

"So how can I help you" Chloe asked with a polite smile..

"Actually.. Excuse me I'll be back.." he ran back to his desk and grabbed the empty bottle of Abby's medicine and hurried back to Ruby's office..

"I'm back.." he sat back down and showed the empty plastic bottle to Chloe..

"Hm.. Well, this was used as a medicine to stop hallucinations and help with anxiety but soon this drug got banned years ago because although it was helping with the hallucinations, somehow the patient's brains were getting affected.. They were having severe headaches and some even start losing their memories.. Another reason why it got banned was this drug was having different side effects on each patient some were okay, but some were really severe.. When the doctors weren't able to study this drug properly, they choose that they won't be risking any life so they banned it.. How do you have it though?"

It was crazy how slowly everything was starting to make sense to Jake..

"What if it's given to a patient who experiences nightmares and already has lost their memories once before?" he asked..

"Do you know if it was a short-term memory loss or a long-term one?"

"Not quite sure.. But it was caused by an accident—A pretty ugly one"

"Well then, I can't say anything for sure.. It may that those nightmares, are just their distorted memories trying to come back to them but because of the drug, they are stuck.. It's pretty complicated but you get the point right?"

Jake nodded understanding the situation really well..

'There's a possibility that they are giving these medicines to Abby because they don't want them to regain their memories.. And if it's like Chloe said.. If it's .. actually not their nightmares.. but their memories..'

Once he found the answer to his questions he thanked Chloe and left Ruby's office..

He had his answer, but the words Chloe told him just made him question everything even more..

He took out his phone and stared at Ms Jane's contact number..

He wasn't sure if it'd be a good idea or not..

He wasn't aware of what his decisions would lead him toward, yet he didn't want to give up..

As he was done with his shift, he hurriedly packed his things and rushed to the cafe where Ms Jane was waiting for him..

He called her and asked her to meet him today.. He didn't tell her anything about the information he got, neither he was planning on telling her.. At that moment, Jake didn't feel like he could trust anyone..

"I'm sorry for bringing this up again but.. I want you to tell me about Abby again.. About what happened to Abby, their memory loss, their accident, the arranged marriage.. Everything.. Without leaving even the slightest detail out"

"But why are you suddenly-"

"Please this is really important"

Ms Jane sighed before agreeing to tell Jake everything..

"Well.. Abby lost their memories after they got into a car crash 8 years ago.. They were with their father that day.. He passed away, but Abby survived" she paused for a moment and took a deep breath

"Their father, Jeff Wilson arranged their marriage with Zayn, the son of a really wealthy man, Kabir.. It was cruel how luck was never on that poor soul's side.. Their relationship was so toxic and abusive that they regretted surviving that day.. After Abby came to me and begged me for help I told everything to Mr Kabir.. Everything Zayn did to Abby.. He looked Disappointed in his son so in return he gave Abby the house they currently live in and asked me to take care of them."
