Chapter 6: The Divorce Agreement is Signed

The next day dawned with the pale light of fish-belly white.

The woman in the bed, her butterfly-like long lashes quivering, slowly opened a pair of beautiful, enchanting phoenix eyes.

Gazing at the ceiling overhead, Ming Yao's mind was momentarily muddled.

The soreness on her forehead, as well as in her limbs, reminded her that it seemed she was still alive!

She wasn't covered by a blanket and, at some point, had come to hold a man's black overcoat in her arms.

She sniffed it, liking the scent.

Ming Yao couldn't remember how long it had been since she'd last had a good sleep.

She was the Tang Sect's Snow Fox, whom people feared at the mere mention of her name.

Probably no one would imagine that her cause of death wasn't being assassinated out of revenge or an accidental mishap, but—

dying from seven days and nights without sleep, literally succumbing to fatal insomnia!

Ming Yao had suffered from insomnia since childhood, and the symptoms only worsened with age.

Medications had ceased to have any effect on her.

When she finally died, she was only twenty-one years old.

Last night, she remembered arguing with a man before lying down on the bed and falling asleep!

Could it be that her insomnia was cured because she had switched bodies?

A hint of joy appeared in Ming Yao's eyes.

She could finally rid herself of the torment of insomnia!

Rubbing her sore arms, she rose from the bed.

She was preparing to wash up when the doorbell rang.

Groggy-eyed, Ming Yao opened the door.

Standing at the doorway was a handsome young man wearing a white shirt.

After catching a glimpse of Ming Yao, the young man cleared his throat, "Wife, Fourth Master instructed me to bring you the divorce agreement."

Oh.

This young man must be Tyrant Gu's assistant, Lu Zhou!

He seemed much more gentle and affable than the tyrant!

"Alright, let me take a look," Ming Yao said, taking the divorce agreement with a lazy, casual smile, "Would you like to come in and sit for a while?"

Shock instantly covered Lu Zhou's handsome face.

He quickly waved his hand, "No need, I still have work to do. Once you've signed, a lawyer will come to collect it."

Lu Zhou ran off as if fleeing.

Ming Yao touched her nose.

Why was he so afraid of her? Could it be she might eat him up?

Some images flickered through her mind. The former Ming Yao seemed to have quite an interest in handsome, fair-faced young men!

It was rumored that Lu Zhou was the apple of Tyrant Gu's eye. Perhaps he was afraid of any gossip linking him with her that might displease Tyrant Gu!

Tyrant Fourth Master Gu and the gentle assistant—tsk tsk, this BL couple seemed quite a ship!

Ming Yao took the divorce agreement back to her room and signed her name on the last page after a brief glance.

She entered the bathroom and stood before the mirror, sizing up the woman reflected in it.

Uh...

The woman in the mirror, sporting a frizzy hairstyle and a face resembling a palette, was that really her current self?

No wonder last night that tyrant said even if she stripped naked, he wouldn't spare her an extra glance. With such a visage, it was indeed unbearable to look at!

Ming Yao tied up her hair and began to remove her makeup.

It took nearly twenty minutes to finally cleanse her face.

Her skin was fair and delicate, her features were exquisite, her cheeks radiant, and her long, slender phoenix eyes appeared to have hooks of their own, beautiful and captivating.

Ming Yao raised her slender finger, touching the enticing, naturally formed light-colored teardrop mole below the corner of her eye.

This face, identical to her former self right down to the mole, had no discernable differences.

Doubt crept into Ming Yao's eyes.

Why would there be someone so similar? Did she and this body have some kind of connection?

It was a pity that before she died, her body had been an orphan's. Then, after dying of insomnia, her corpse was burned by her enemies.

Otherwise, she might have suspected they were long-lost twins!

Ming Yao didn't dwell too much on this matter, whether there was a connection or not, she would find out the truth later!
