CHAPTER 76:PAST PAIN

"the boy has been handling the company for years and everything has been done efficiently with no loss if that is what you are worried about because everything is going well and I suggest you drop that idea of yours because it would lead you nowhere "he did with furrowed brow.With Ryan taking control of the company not all the members of the family was happy about it. Spending time with his grandchildren had gotten his mind off a few things,he had hoped this matter had died down but he was wrong. Grandpa hoped the family wouldn't fall apart because of this.

Charles got up"I'm only here to see how you are doing and to Inform you that I'll soon be visiting that nephew of mine" he walked towards the door before pausing in his footsteps "you should take care"with that he left the room with the door closing behind him..

Grandpa sighed wondering if his while family was intent on making him die earlier than he was supposed to .With Ryan not ready to get married and he wasn't sure if Jason was still fooling around plus his son was intent on having the company in his hands.

At a cemetery where many graves continued to stay within the ground,mia stood in front of a particular grave with Ryan one step behind her he observes her. Her black hair moving in accordance to the wind. She bent on knee, placing the flower on the grave and with a small smile she said "I miss him".

It's been years since her father's death,at first it was hard to digest what happened with her little heart.Now she wished for him to be here with her but even she knew it was an impossible wish.

"I'm sure he wants you to be happy and be is proud of you"Ryan said behind her knowing how mia must be feeling loosing a loved one.Mia stood up to stand in front of Ryan she said "he must be and so are you" she smiled noticing how some part of his hair and moved to cover one part of his eye.

"sometimes we wish for a few things to change, wishing it never happened or if we could have prevented it from happening"he paused then held her hand before giving it a light squeeze then he continued "but not everything can be changed as it happened in the past and all we have to do is go focus on the future".

Mia stepped forward the hugged him ,her head resting on his chest listening to steady heartbeat "I know but sometimes it's difficult but I have you by my side"she stated internally wishing for nothing to come in between them.

"you do even in difficult times I'll always be here for you and with you"he caressed her head giving her the comfort that she embraced with the intention of protecting and keeping her happy.

"I love you" he heard her whisper and he leaned to kiss her head. Mia took a deep breath then said "I'm done here we can leave now"

As the day continued to go by,mia decided to visit the orphanage with Ryan who accompanied her "you didn't have to come with me I'm sure there is a lot of work that needs your attention"mia tried to reason with him

"mark will handle it"Ryan replied nonchalantly with his gaze fixed ahead he heard mia say "I think that's too much workload and too much stress he definitely wouldn't have time to rest"

"he has been working with me for years so he is able to handle my absence you shouldn't show too much concern about him "said Ryan displeasure evident in his voice that mia didn't fail to miss.

"is this your way of telling me you are jealous?" mia laughed but then she saw the look in his eyes then pause to say "I'm just being considerate "he wrapped her arm around his "there's no need for you to be jealous "

"you didn't tell me you visit the orphanage often "Ryan watched as many children ran around playing with some spending their time on the play ground in the area,the atmosphere peaceful with laughter of children filling the air around them "only when I find the time and to make some donations, some of these children have either lost their parents or have been abandoned by the side of the road or some place else and they can only rely on being adopted by good people " Mia replied to him as they took a sit on the bench nearby.

"do you want us to have one?"Ryan asked ,he awaited her reply

"I'm not planning on adopting a child " the thought had never crossed her mind ,she was happy giving donations to the children and it brought her peace knowing the children aren't deprived of what they needed

"that's not what I meant" Ryan clarified his tone serious and it had Mia's eyes go side now understanding the words he uttered, blood rushed up to her face.Not able to hold his gaze ,she turned to look at the little ones then said "you shouldn't say that" in a low voice

"why no one said we can't make one"Ryan grinned his eyes filled with mischief something she hadn't witness until now and gone was the cold man she had always knew.

And while mia continued to feel flustered by Ryan's words,in one if the many places in the city, lily had just gotten out of her car,with her mood bright. Her daughter was in good hands and happy and it was enough for her.Sje didn't fail to see how mai seemed more bright and happy and as much as the girl had tried to conceal her emotions,his couldn't as lily was able to read her.

Lily was glad mia found someone to love and care for her other than herself. Lily had left home only a few hours after her daughter did and had decided to visit her friend who ran a coffee shop,when she looked across the road,her brows furrowed.

On the other side of the road stood a man by a blue car. She found him rather familiar while trying to remember where or when she had seen him.

Normally she would have looked away and not cared much about it but something didn't sit well with her while she continued to look at the man who got inside his car that was soon to zoom off
