CHAPTER 78: MOTHER'S WORRIES

When it was past twelve in the afternoon,rya. walked in his office away from where his employees work and free of loud chattering. The floor and the room quiet as Ryan continued his work intently with his concentration full. His eyes scanned through the files and the screen of the laptop that was in front of him.

He had been working nonstop like he usually does barely taking any breaks. Apart from mia that occupied his mind and take his time the rest was his work and siblings. Although Ryan was the boss and he had his assistant who could handle everything in his absence,it didn't mean there weren't things that needed his attention.

Someone knocked on the door before pushing it open and Jason walked in. He saw his brother close his eyes for a while as if frustrated about something before she paused in what he was doing.

Ryan leaned against his chair,his eyes hinting a glare that was for Jason who ignored it "I thought I told you not to come unless I called you"

Jason walked to sit opposite his brother he placed his hand flat on the desk then he replied "I already did what you asked ,there is nothing left to do and it leaves me bored for the rest of the day" he would have gone to see Hannah even if it was just for an hour but the girl was busy with something of her own. His brother has been working for a long time and Jason had already carried out the task he was given.

Ryan stared at his brother for a while the he got before walking towards the large cubicle that was at the other side of the room with files arranged in order. He picked up a few files then walked towards Jason before placing it in front of him "work on this "he the went back to sit down.

"are these all the files?"

"yes I'm done with most "rya. threw his head back as if tired from all the work. Jason smile taking one of the files as he opened it he said"it isn't everyday you see me come here "

"and when you do ,you fool around in my office"Ryan replied with his closed ,if someone else were to look at him right now they would assume we was sleeping

"it doesn't change the fact that use my help"Jason said without looking at his brother,his eyes trained to the file in front of him somewhere immersed on the work his brother gave him

"one of the reasons why I give you work to do and somehow you just have to get all your work done before coming to me "replied Ryan who opened his eyes to look at his brother noticing him buried in what he was doing,the former closed his eyes.

His mind that had been preoccupied and concentrated with his work was beginning to settle, his breathing calm,his thoughts started normal before it diverted to a dark hair girl.Openig his eyes,he wondered what mia must be doing or what she was up to but then , as if remembering something he said to Jason "did uncle go back?" he asked.

Jason who heard the question stop what he was doing before looking at his brother, truth be told he hadn't actually thought about his uncle and now that his brother had brought it up he couldn't help but think about it

"not yet ,the first time he came he left without a word and now I'm not sure what he is up to"Jason replied,he stared at his brother then said "do you think he is trying to...?"he left the words hanging for his brother to complete

"it would be a surprise if he wasn't"Ryan replied.

"regardless,what if he had lost interest in gaining power I mean he hasn't made any moves yet for us to be careful about"there was evident concern as Jason spoke,he tried to guage his brother's expression that was unfathomable,it made it difficult fir him to dicipher what he was thinking.

"not everyone can change overnight, at least not him he has been holding on to that thought for as long as I can remember you of all people know this" earlier that day his grandfather had called to inform him about his uncle's visit and it wasn't that much of a surprise to him.

"it's since we were still little,do you think he would go as far as to causing harm to you just to get what he wants "Jason said thoughtfully,both sides were stubborn. He had always stood by his brother knowing he did things after thinking about it thoroughly,but the thought of his uncle causing harm made him ball his hand into fists.

"he could "Ryan stated"but it doesn't mean he wouldn't use other sources to get to me"

Jason nodded in understanding"he knows how dear you are to his daughter maybe he wouldn't try " but at the same time one couldn't tell what others could do especially one that is intent on gaining power.

"Ryan ,you don't think he plans on using her, do you?"

Ryan glanced at Jason and questioned"where is Lucy?"

At a place far way from the surrounding community,a house stood strong distant from the bustling sounds that came from the road.

Lucy sat down on the couch with her hands placed on her lap beside her sat her mum who wore a smile on her face delighted to see her daughter after such a long time. Her hair was packed in bun with some strands of her hair coming to fall on her temple.

"I'm so glad to see you are alright and haven't gotten yourself into any potential trouble but that is expected as your cousin as been keeping an eye on you"the woman stated her eyes filled with evident joy from seeing Lucy.

"even if big brother isn't around I'm capable of taking care of myself I am no longer a child"Lucy replied to her mum.

"it never hurts to be careful especially since you decided to leave home without permission" the woman replied

Lucy sighed knowing this was inevitable "I left because you were limiting my movement and have me do things I don't want to,big brother might have been keeping an eye on me but it doesn't restrict my movement and I think I've spent a considerably amount of time with you two and away from my cousin "Lucy had left to get away from a few things somewhere she felt pressured around her parents and it suffocated her. It wasn't that she didn't love them but the thought of having to do what they asked irked her.

"I'm not expecting you to do everything..."the woman paused understanding what her daughter meant even though she had classified her reasons for two people"but you going away without telling us isn't good either, did you know how worried I was?"she asked , Internally grateful that her cousin had been taking care of her daughter otherwise she wouldn't know what would happen.

Lucy on the other hand had felt the need to visit them upon their arrival to the city after all,she hadn't seen them for a long time
