Thea’s POV
I was shocked. I hadn't heard Emma say anything against the Alpha. Hudson had plenty of negative to say, but Emma always seemed to hold her tongue.
"Are you okay, Emma?"
"I know in my heart the Alpha is responsible for my husband's death. The Alpha was caught using city funds to remodel his mansion. It was Gray who exposed it. The next day he was found in the lake. His death was ruled an accidental drowning, but I know the truth."
"Oh, Emma. I'm so sorry. I had no idea."
"The Alpha killed my husband. He has more blood on his hands than the members of the pack realize."
I notice Emma's eyes start to get misty, so I reach out and grab her hand, which she had rested on the kitchen counter.
"He was my best friend and the best man I ever knew. He didn't stand for corruption, and he refused to turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. He died because of it, but I will always be proud that he stayed true to himself."
