Chapter 1

"Creak" "Creak"

"I can't find them here, it seems like they have taken another route" said a man who was dressed in armor with a sword in hand as he stop in his track.

"If there is any other place that she could take to escape from the palace, then it has to be here" commented another man who was still dressed in the same way as the first and by the look of things, they are guards of a kingdom.

"If you are saying that they took this path, could it be that they are hiding somewhere"? Asked the first guard.

"It seems like it, so it better we take a thorough look at the path" replies the second guard.

After coming to an agreement, the guards begin to search the dark alley which could be hiding their target. Meanwhile, right after they went deep into the alley to continue the search two shadows sneakily walk out from the side before walking out of the alley quietly so as to not attract the guard's attention. But just as they had made their way out of the alley and begin to make a run for it, they come across another set of guards who were patrolling the area.

"There they are, men after them" screamed one of the guards who caught sight of the shadow.

"Run Jason" instructed a female voice as she picked up the pace.

The two shadows change paths as they begin to run towards a tall tower with two guards standing by the entrance and seeing the two shadows coming their way, they took their fighting stance. The shadows didn't halt in their movement as they continued to rush towards the guards with the larger shadow taking the lead and the moment it came in contact with the guards, they were quickly knocked out of the way before proceeding forward until they were able to get into the tower.

"Creak"

Locking the door from the inside, the larger shadow suddenly took off the black robe which she was wearing revealing a blonde-haired beauty with a little silver crown on her head. After she was done taking the robe down, she went ahead to do the same to the other which reveal a young boy who seen to be at the age of 17 with a slim body, golden hair, and a cute round face.

"What are we going to do, now that we are stuck in this room"? Asked Jason as he threw the robe to the side.

"What else can we do other than to leave this place" replied Jason's mother who goes by the name queen Jeanie.

"But if we were to leave this place, how are we going to survive the outside world" asked Jason.

"We can think about that later, right now our main priority is to get out of here before the guards come knocking" replies queen Jeanie before climbing the step that leads all the way to the top of the tower.

Watching his mother heading to the top of the mountain, Jason also follow suit but before leaving, he went back and blocked the door that was already locked with an old table and chair before hurriedly taking the stairs.

"Still, I don't see the reason why the guards would be after us when we haven't done anything" said Jason after joining his mother.

"We have been wrongly accused of killing your father the king, and there is only one person that I can come up with who could do something like that" replied queen Jeanie with a frown as she continued to climb the stairs.

"Who could be so bold as to assassinate father"? Asked Jason with gritted teeth.

"Who else could it be than his trusted adviser, Sir Richard" replied queen Jeanie.

Hearing his mother mentioning the name of the adviser, Jason couldn't help but have a shocking look on his face as he didn't expect that the person who his mother suspected to be responsible for his father's death would be Sir Richard who had been kindly teaching him martial art.

"I think you are wrong there mother for one, Sir Richard has busy himself with the affair of the kingdom and let's not forget that he is also my teacher here. So how would he plan my father's death when he hardly has time for himself"? Objected Jason who finds it hard to believe.

"I know he is your teacher but you see son, this world we live in, is filled with snakes. They are willing to do anything all for them to achieve their goals and Sir Richard is one of those snakes" warned queen Jeanie knowing fully well that her son has not seen the world so there is no way he would be able to understand the nature of human.

Jason was all silent when his mother told him about what she thought of Sir Richard but he still didn't believe her since he had known the person for a long time. He decided to keep it to himself to avoid an unnecessary argument until they got to the top of the tower where an old mechanism could be seen laying on the ground.

Rushing inside, queen Jeanie was just about to let out a sigh when she heard a loud bang coming from the lower floor and she had to hurry to the old mechanism.

"We need to get out of here as soon as possible before they get to us" she said while working on the old mechanism.

While she was trying to get the old mechanism running, Jason went to the window and looked down only for him to see the guards gathering around the door as they try to break the door. Even with their strength, the guards were finding it difficult to get the door down which surprise Jason as he begin to wonder what material it was made from.

Just when he thought they would be able to get out of the tower before the guards could get the door down, Jason suddenly notices a huge man walking towards the door and whenever he walks, the guards begin to make way for him.

"Mum, we need to get out of here, Commander Eric is about to knock the door down" warned Jason warily when seeing the man walking towards the door who seemed to be no other than the one in charge of all the soldiers in the kingdom.
