After Jing Xue vented her grievances, the both of them stopped talking for a very long time as though they were immersed in the quiet and tranquilness of the night.

Ren Ye took the necklace and placed it against his chest, "Was my rebirth related to you?"

"Mm."

Jing Xue mumbled audibly as she wiped her tears away, her eyes werein color as she pursed her lips tightly.

Ren Ye's heart throbbed, "I…"

"You don't need to apologize, I didn't do it for you to pity me," Jing Xue interrupted him calmly. Ren Ye stopped speaking and lowered his head silently.

Ren Ye took her hand and wrapped it with his warm palms, trying to soothe the pain inside her heart. He smiled slightly and caressed her face, "You…"

He didn't know what to say to her except a thank you. He didn't want to pity nor did she want him to feel guilty for what she did for him. Despite lacking in emotional growth, Ren Ye understood what it meant to sacrifice one's life for another.
