Mundane Life

Xie Zhi Yuan humphed. "Of course we're here. You have guts, running over to the hospital to give birth without notifying your elders. What will people say of our Xie family?"

They all hummed in agreement, even grandpa Xie looked displeased but said nothing.

"It happened suddenly, the child couldn't wait. Child birth is not easy at all, " She said halfheartedly as she rocked the baby.

Xie Zhi Yuan nearly puked blood. Did she think they were fools? She couldn't even be bothered to come up with a better excuse!

Grandpa Xie cleared his throat and shot Xie Zhi Yuan a warning look. "It's all good, as long as the child is safe."

He walked forward to take a proper look at the baby and nodded in satisfaction. "He looks just like Zhang Wei."

Wen Fei Fei: '...'

Where on earth did he see the baby looked like Zhang Wei? At this stage the baby was red and incredibly wrinkled, his features weren't distinctive at all!

She only smiled at grandpa Xie and looked back to her child. She was sure he'd have some of his father's features when he grew up.

The third uncle finally spoke up, "I'm sure he'd have his father's incredible talent too."

The other members of the Xie family turned to glare at him. He'd been silent all the while when his bothers were busy fighting for resources for their grandchildren, why was he being a busybody and speaking up now?

He only looked back at them smugly while Wen Fei Fei was left confused by the actions of the Xie father and mother.

Her child was their grandchild too so why did they join others in glaring at the uncle? Now that she thought about it, they didn't look all that sad by the death of Zhang Wei.

Were they really his parents? What kind of parents would grapple for resources with other relatives when their child just died?

She shook her head with a bitter smile. She'd been too complacent when Zhang Wei was alive and now she had to face the consequences.

She looked to the faces of every member of the Xie family. Didn't they want her son's resources? She'd see how they'd be able to pry it from her hands.

"I'm really tired now and the child is beginning to stir from all the noise. Why don't we continue this meeting when both mother and child are stable hmm?"

Grandpa Xie nodded firmly and looked to the other Xie family members. They all scurried away.

Wen Yu spent the next time period trying to coordinate his various limbs. He was already a month old and could open his eyes fully, although he couldn't see far.

Apparently, he'd been reborn as a child in a universe that seemed much more advanced than what he was used to.

He spent most of his time in the confines of his nursery so he had very little information but from what he observed and heard from the people around, this universe seemed to depend heavily on artificial intelligence and spirit potential.

While he was clear on the concept of artificial intelligence, spirit potential was just lost on him. What exactly it was and what its uses were, he had no idea and he was hardly taken out of this nursery.

All he did all day was cry, sleep, cry and sleep some more. Such a mundane life, so boring. There was the occasional whimper but he was too embarrassed to duel on that.

Him, a grown man, had to sh*t and p*ss himself and wait for the adults around to notice and when they didn't, he had to cry out.

He wanted to face palm. How embarrassing.

He looked up too see his mother in this incarnation reaching out to carry him. He extended his hands with no hesitation. She was so warm and it felt comfortable anytime she carried him.

"The Xie family are becoming very impatient. They've been urging me to contact the military for my husband's resources even before my son has been tested!"

He heard her say to the attendant by the side. He already knew that his father had a very high position in the military and was quite famous with the common people,

But he was gone. Children in this era generally awakened their spirit potential when they clocked four months and then would be trained accordingly.

It seemed the Federation paid the most attention to babies with S, SS and SSS rank potential. SSS rank potential was legendary anyways so they put all their focus on kids with S and SS ranks potential.

If children with SSS rank potential were considered legendary, then those with SS rank potential were considered epic and those with S rank potential were rare.

He sighed, he still had too little information so he had no idea why these potentials were so important to the people of this era.

He thought back to the world in his last life. Technology was considered advance but not on the level it seemed in this era.

They were various AIs that attended to him and even the bracelet on his mother's wrist looked to be made from some sort of nano material that had self repair functions.

Not just that though. He could still remember the immense shock he felt when he saw the bracelet release some sort of black sticky material on his mother's skin when she had a tiny cut.

The wound was healed immediately, not even a tiny scar was left. Even the extremely tiny hair follicles on her skin were repaired to the thinnest hole.

This universe was just too advanced!

He continued on in his mundane life as a newborn for months, learning to move his limbs a bit better, turning around and trying to sit even if he never succeeded.

He was always keeping an ear out for any gossip since he never left his nursery. Trying to speak only to give up in embarrassment when baby babble burst forth.

He sometimes wondered why he even tried so hard. If he actually succeeded in talking at his age, the entire Federation would freak out.

Even he would freak out if he found a baby who could talk at barely three months.

The day for the testing finally arrived. It happened to coincide with the day when the military was to deliver Zhang Wei's merits. Wen Fei Fei scoffed.

If the Xie family had nothing to do with this then she'd swallow her own tongue. They were trying to parade the other great grandchildren in front of the military so she would be forced to split her husband's resources between all of them!

She'd see who dares to force her hand!
