Running away

"I should have asked him how to operate this thing." a man said.

The man was named Jokh Kytorn a member of house van saar from the world of Necromunda in hive primus. He was the one to stumble upon Valhöll a store that harbored long-lost technology of probably illegal origin.

His house was the wealthiest of hive primus as they sold high-tech weaponry compared to other houses because of this the imperium recruit them. They are known for their tight-fitted Evo suits to waistband the harsh hive environments.

But the cost for this wealth and advanced weaponry comes from a dark secret. A corrupted STC that constantly leaks radiation that has bound them to their Evo suits for life. Their history is even older than the imperium being once colonists of arcology vessel Van Saar that was lost in the warp until M35.

In his quarters Jokh operated the data shard but seemed unable to turn it on.

"Dammit just turn on!" Jokh yelled as he hit the table next to him.

[=#=#~+#¥!~]

[#=<+~t]

[he+#]

[hello I am xl699F I am a data shard from 101,007 A.D I contain the knowledge of armor smithing from early humanity to 2190 A.D ]

[would you like me to transfer to another system or use me as is?]

The tablet did not turn on for a while as it did not understand the language that had degraded over the millennia. After getting enough information it started to learn the local language of the star system and then turned on.

"Just as yourself do you have any ways to make suits that can handle heavy radiation?" Jokh asked.

[many, please specify how high the sievert dose is]

"I don't know all I can tell you is if someone enters that place without a suit they'll be dead in hours even our suit can't withstand it and are slowly dying!" jokh yelled.

[I will then go with the most advanced suit Available to me this suit can withstand 1000 sieverts of radiation and can also use the radiation as an energy source to create a shield that can withstand high caliber kinetic and plasma weapons]

Soon a hologram appeared on showing an advanced armor the materials needed and how to make it step by step even to the materials.

This data shard was the same as a standard template construct. Jokh quickly got up from his chair and ran out to meet with the rest of the primes this technology could save their house.

Odin awoke in the early morning and stayed in bed for a while before doing his normal routine. After eating a light breakfast Odin entered the shop and sat on his chair.

Odin opened the system and went to the draw tab.

"I saw this before but didn't bother with it as I was tired but let's see what's new," Odin said as he scrolled down and saw a new draw.

After gaining the gene serum he had gotten the ability to draw medicine, of course, it was level 1 but it was still more potential products for his young store.

The medicine draw cost the same as a data shard which Odin liked as he could gain a finished product for very cheap. Of course, this also contained current medicines so he might actually make a loss unless they were heavily marked up.

Like, imagine spending 100 points or 500 USD for amoxicillin or the like when it only costs like 10 USD. To say Odin would be pissed was an understatement but if it did happen then he could just go around like a dead immortal and ask for 'help' from some poor old sage.

Odin pressed the draw button twice.

[congratulations on gaining 3 new medicine for sale!]

[amoxicillin x4

Penicillin x6

Age extenders (50 years) x8

Pituitary gland enhancer x2]

"While half of this is the medicine I could buy at the store the rest is quite nice." Odin said as he took the items to their display case.

The medicine did not have a room but was placed as the main staple of the store near the entrance. Of course, if he received medical technology then a room would be unlocked in the many doors of the shop.

Odin made sure the store was clean before sitting back down and scrolling on his phone. Even though he was basically in a separate space from both his universe and the 40k universe he could still use the internet.

Odin took a photo of the store and sent it to his group chat.

'Finally got a job!'

Soon he got a few congratulatory texts before he started to talk about random things with his friends.

'Hey did you know sage Vulen came to town?'

'Wait really why?'

'He's finding an heir or something.'

'Ah, it's a shame I have no achievements imagine being his heir 😭'

'Ah yes, the heir to a guy who looks like a lightbulb and fell for a scam such a sage.'

'What scam?'

'Eh nothing but still why isn't his title lightbulb sage or something I think it suits him?'

Before Odin could see the next message the door to the store opened. Odin looked up and saw an alderi woman standing at the door looking around in curiosity. Once she saw Odin she aimed her rifle at him and asked.

"What is this where am I Mon-keigh!"

"Uh... Welcome to Valhöll the hall of the fallen and my store we sell anything as long as you have the money or trade items also this is a very new store so we might not have much but that us we still have great things!" Odin quickly changed to his seller persona and walked up to the woman who shook her gun to remind him she was armed.

"Please lower your gun our store does not allow violence also I have no ill will towards your kind," Odin said as he stopped a few feet away from her.

[that reminds me of the time humanity met their second alien race their first encounter with aliens was smooth but the second one well let's say that the xenophobia the imperium has towards xenos is not even close to humanity in the 8th millennium]

[it's like comparing a child calling someone a poopy head to Hitler's genocide times a trillion and no human even had a problem with it truly showing humanity can only be united through hate]

'Uhh..'

The woman looked at Odin in confusion but before she could say anything she felt a chilling cold cover her body. She felt empty as if she was a husk her body went limp and Odin came back to reality and rushed to her.

[it seems the demon of hope has stepped in]

'What?'

[he took her soul out and made an artificial one that he Implanted into her body]

"I'll give you back your soul if you drop that arrogance there's nothing to be proud of when your kind was destroyed by a quasi God now blink twice if you understand." a deep voice boomed from all over the store.

The woman blinked repeatedly before gasping as she gained control of her body. The woman got up and ran out without looking back. Odin just blankly stared at the door before noticing that the woman left her rifle in the store.

"Do I uh..throw it into the void or?" Odin said as he took the rifle which was surprisingly light for its size.

[you have not reached level 5 so you can't open the door as it has been abandoned it will be classed as your own weapon it can be sold or kept for yourself]

"What do you mean sell like to you or others?"

[to me I will analyze it and then give you a prize for the weapon]

"Please scan it first."

[starting scan]
