Far from a sage

'Your blade butchers men mine butchers the stars you see up above my gnawing hunger seeks to devour all but will you survive I wonder?'

In the early morning, Odin left his house he carried a sword on his back as he took the lancer out of his inventory and drove away. He soon arrived at the luminous academy of martial arts. He stored his lancer and slowly made his way in.

He made his way to his classroom and saw many students waiting at the front door, looking straight at him. Seven students walked up to him quickly and said.

"Put in work we're up against class 9 and their new student is something else from what we know so can you not be lazy for once, please?" a young man with brown hair said his blue eyes holding a strong look of pleading everyone's eyes did.

Odin looked at them before walking toward the class and said.

"I'll fight them all." For the first time, the class heard Odin say more than yes or no, and it was a huge claim to fight one of the top three classes himself.

The academy had ten classes with 100 students. Among them, three stood out. Class 5 was the top class 9 was in second place and class 3 was in third. Class 5 had all students in the martial artist level and ten in the half master level.

Class 9 had 70 martial artists and 7 in the master realm, but the new student was an actual master level martial artist. Finally, class 3 had 69 (nice) martial artists and 5 in the half master level.

(btw here are the levels: novice-martial disciple-martial artist-master-grandmaster-sage-??? Imo just focus on the master and up levels as they will be more used in the future parts of the story)

The class that Odin was in was class 10, having 40 martial artists and 3 half masters. But some joked that class 10 would be number one if not for their lazy grandmaster. Many students knew of odins' godly analyzing and application ability. Many envied it, as Odin could do things that took other months in mere instants.

Some had even seen Odin fight during the time he was interested in martial arts before he dropped it after the incident he had.

Odin slept through the class after telling the teacher he was going to challenge class 9 by himself. This naturally made the teacher shocked, and he spread it to his neighbor, causing it to spread all around.

This made many excited to see what the lazy grandmaster could do. Soon it hit 5 PM and everyone gathered at the gymnasium. Odin put on a song and plugged his headphones in as he made his way to fight nearly a hundred people by himself.

Sanding in the center, Odin zoned out as he stared at the floor. After half an hour, the class had arrived. A towering man easily stood out in the class. Standing at nearly seven feet and made of pure muscle, he was the master martial artist of class 9.

Compared to what people would think, he was not prideful. Far from it, he was respectful and understood there were many strong people above him. He always said he could only be prideful when he could easily cover the world with his thumb.

The young man was only 19, yet his appearance looked more like a middle-aged man than of a young adult's.

"So you are the lazy grandmaster my friends have told me about to be honest I can't see much but then again the sages look to be one hard blow from dropping and they are peak existence of humanity." the man said as he went up to Odin and held out his hand for a handshake.

"Kong Xinyi's descendant?" Odin muttered as he looked at the man.

"Huh?" the young man was confused after hearing that.

"You're his descendant, right?"

"Yes, I'm Yang Xianyi but you can call me Jacob." the young man said with a smile, as someone knew his family.

"You know of our family?"

"Yes, he was famous during the Zhou Dynasty and also an ancient man," Odin said, the last part nearly audible.

"Huh? What was that last part?"

"He was well known and a good fighter, even in old age I said."

"Oh."

Odin looked at the referee and signaled he was ready to start. Jacob got into place and did as well.

The referee blew his whistle, and the two fought. Jacob ran towards Odin and launched a flurry of kicks that Odin dodged. Odin made distance before rendering and launching three jabs.

Jacob took the hits but was OK. he smiled and said.

"Come on, you can do better than that!"

"I know I can, but the world hasn't seen it in ages." Odin said as a small, dim sliver of light wrapped around his hands.

Odin threw out another jab, and Jacob was launched back. He landed on the floor, unconscious. The crowd was shocked they forgot about the fight and focused on the light on odins hand.

"Sage!" the referee yelled.

Odin walked out and got on his lancer and flew off to go eat.

"Sage, far from it, if I was, then I could easily bring the dead back." Odin said as he flew into the air.

[yes to do so would require you either to be well versed in life and death arts or be a cultivator that studies the Dao of resurrection or any Dao under the law of suffering]

"I see. Well not my problem."

(I used an AI tell me how it did!)
