POWER

In every story, there is a villain.

Edmund had realized a long time ago that being a good person got you nowhere but hurt.

He always got what he wanted no matter what.

As they were sorrow fed by the lot that had come for the meeting he knew what all of them were thinking. That they had come back and their lives were going to be miserable.

Their family had been known since the beginning of times and they knew all the bad things that they had done.

No one would accept the fact they had come back to town and let that slide.

"What are you doing here ?", someone asked from the congregation.

"What do you mean what am I doing here, this is our ho. e and we thought that it was finally time for us to be back ", said Edmund smiling.

"But we don't want you here all you will do is make our lives even worse than they already are", said some guy who was standing next to him.

"Not if we can solve all your problems ", said Elijah.

"And how do you think you are going to do that ?", asked the guy as he moved closer to Elijah.

With the way he was arrogant he was sure he was the one who acted as their leader. He was not a leader though if he sat around and let his people get murdered.

"What is your name ?", Elijah asked him.

"Peter ", he said.

"Now Peter from the look of things it seems like you are the leader here. Do you think that you can take care of them?"Elijah asked him.

"Who do you think you are coming here asking me stupid questions about my leadership?", he asked Elijah.

Edmund had enough with the chitchat. He just couldn't stand there and watch as the young boy argued with his brother like they were mates.

"You know very well who I am and who my brother is, I don't think that question needed to be asked. If you are their leader why are you letting them get killed?

You are supposed to protect them and from what I have heard it seems like you people are being killed every day.

I called you guys here because I want to be your leader. I can protect you. It's time we stayed together like a community.

If we are together the chances of people defeating us are slim. We are powerful but the people have reduced us to nothing.

Is that what you want? To be killed like you are stupid animals and not have anyone to fight for you ?", Edmund asked them as he looked at the congregation.

People started murmuring and he knew it was going the way he wanted it to.

"No we don't want your help, you can go back to your mansion and stay there ", said Peter.

He has expected that. There was always someone who was trying to be the hero and act like he ew better but today was not the day for him to behave like a hero.

"Peter, it's fine that you don't want me to protect you but why crucify everyone else? I think everyone here can speak for themselves. Am not here to kill you or do anything all I want is to protect you".

"I was in a meeting earlier with the committee and realized you don't even have a representative. Is that how these people have made you live all these years?"

"We made a pact that no one attacks the other clan. We won't attack witches and all of them and they do t do that to us and they accepted. It's time for us to also be respected ", said Edmund.

"I would rather die than let you rule or command me ", said Peter.

"I am not forcing you to let me protect you. It's your life and you can do whatever you want. We all know that you can't protect them though," he paused for a second as he looked at the people.

"They need someone strong to protect them and I am offering them that. You all have the right to leave if you want. You can go and be part of Peters's clan, "people started murmuring and he was silent for a while as he waited for the chatter to end.

"Just know that if you follow him we can't protect you. If anything happens to you, you're on your own. We won't go and fight people for you if you are not with us."

"I can't put these people's lives at risk because of someone that did not want to be a part of us in the first place. So if you want to go with Peter now is the time for you to follow him", he said.

He was not giving them a chance. All things favored him. He was their best chance at survival and no one would risk that to loom loyal to their leader who did nothing for them.

He saw a couple of people leave the group and walk towards where Peter was. He didn't care if some people went to his side as long as he had the largest population.

Only a handful of people had joined Peter and they all looked to be his mates. People who didn't want to look like they were licking the wrong side.

"Now that we have that sorted out we will have some rules that we have to follow to maintain the law and peace we want to create here.

"There is no killing of witches or humans like I said. If you do that you will have to be punished because you will be risking the lives of everyone," he knew how hard it was for people to follow rules and hoped for once they listened.

"They will be waiting for one of you to do something stupid so that they can attack and that is not what we want", he said sounding frustrated.

"There is no feeding of humans unless they want that and I don't think that is very likely to happen. You have always fed somehow I don't know how but maybe that is the best way to feed."

"For those who joined Peter and want to come back. When you want to come back the door will always be opened for you."

"You are one of us and we can't abandon you. If you don't follow the rules there will be punishment. Now that we have that all sorted out how about everyone goes on to do what they were doing before we got here.", he said.

"Some of us don't have places to stay and when the sun hits it it's not easy for us", said someone.

"Well, there is an old building near our place that has been abandoned for a while now. I don't think anyone will mind us staying there.

"It is in good shape and has a lot of room, take it was a hospital. We. Can work on that and clean it to make it more homely and you guys can stay there."

"Since it's already nightfall I presume it will be down now but it can be even worried on tomorrow's all your decision", he said.

They murmured for a while and then the man who had brought up the suggestion spoke up again.

"I think right now will be fine so that we have shelter when the sun rises ", he said.

"Okay if you are okay with that how about we go over there right now ", he said.

They all murmured and started walking behind him.

If anyone would see him he looked like a king who had a parade following behind him. Nothing could make him happier.
