Curiosity of the Naïve One

LOVE WITHOUT LEGS

BACKGROUND: Hospital

It was quite. The air in the room was holding grievance for the woman who lost her value for life and yet wasn't granted death. How much more does the world want to mock this empty soul?

Anna's eyes opened two days after the tragic accident. The news was everywhere. The accident of the new heir of JK .ltd attracted media and eventually they started digging into the past- the past of JK .ltd, the recent death of Armaan Husain, and the next heir Suhail Husain. It was a news of great attention about the naive love of the rich disabled man and his school girlfriend.

Joshua read the articles one by one and sighted. His news feed was flooded by them. He was getting uncomfortable sitting in the same place for so long but the view of the beautiful lady in front of him soothed the irritation. Her bike lost control on the street and fell. Her head hit and lost a lot of blood. Her right knee cap was severely damaged and went through operation. It was said that she would never be able to use strength on her right leg. Her thighs and hand were badly scratched and would leave scar. She was a pile of mess.

Joshua was standing right outside his painting shop to get some air and stretch when the woman was caught in the accident. Jushua was a coward boy as a boy among the Elites and was always bullied by the rich community. His father was a famous painter and thus his family was built among the influential community, but Joshua felt out of place like any other nerd child.

The suffocation of sucking up to the rich was affecting his choices of life, hence he choose to stay away from the obvious reason of his suffocation. He brought a shop with the best attention in the city and started painting and selling a few for pocket money. His main attention was to hit the bigger target. He had taken on the legacy of his father's artistic view and skills and just like him, wasn't afraid to start from scratch.

On finding the lady lying on the road, he quickly took her to the nearest hospital on his jeep and stayed during her emergency treatment. He didn't get to even see her face in all the ruckus and the blood dripping badly down her face. He thought that he should have a look at her condition before he left the Hospital. He had left his shop unattended.

He was struck by a bolt of lightning when he saw her face. She was just like any other young ladies. But there was a glistening on her shallow expression even with her eyes closed. He rubbed his eyes roughly to make sure the glistening was his imagination or not. There wasn't any more blood on her face but something in him that told him- "She looked much more peaceful and satisfied when she was found after the accident. But, right now she seems to be lamenting in her subconsciousness. WHY?"

There wasn't any family of hers, who could be contacted as she didn't even have an ID or Mobile with her. The hospital staffs had to wait for her to wake up to contact her relatives as her condition was stable. The hospital didn't mind him babysitting, in fact, they were grateful.

Joshua pulled out his phone and called his only trusted friend Lakshmi while scratching his baby beard.

"Yup Bro. What's up?"

" Uhh. Man, I am sorry but could you please go, shut the lights, lock my shop and keep the keys? I got a bit busy."

"Hm. Will do. I just left the University. You in trouble?" Lakshmi's concern wasn't serious but more of a curiosity.

"Nothing. Then I'll collect the keys from your house later. Don't wait for me."

Why would he leave when his innocent, naïve heart was throbbing to get a single glance of the lady sleeping in front of him? He sat beside her for two days with his heart in turmoil. His strange emotions were not planning on accepting defeat. He scrolled through the news on the second day after encountering large media at the main lobby of the hospital.

Her eyes opened at dusk.

(SCRITCH-SCRATCH-SCRITCH-SCRATCH) She blinked vigorously to adjust the view of ceiling above her. It was blurred.

It went in vein- the death wish, the last tears, the ruckus, the pain. 'So, I am still alive?' She sighted and felt the hospital bed underneath her. She couldn't see properly. Her body was very much stiff and wrapped in bandages. Her head was heavy with one of them. She wasn't angry or desperate about not being able to die. Her mind was calming down. She acted on impulse and caused more trouble to her presently messed up life. But causing accident wasn't her plan for death. She wouldn't have the society go through hard time because her death. She wanted to reach the Dam and jump. She felt embarrassed about her actions.

'Do others know that I tried to suicide?' she fumbled with the bed sheet. That's when she again noticed the scratching sound, the sound of using pencil on a canvas sheet. She titled her numb neck to the side and noticed a foggy figure of a man sitting beside her and scratching with pen on a notebook.

" Su-Suhail?"

The figure flinched at her voice and all the colors left his face which she couldn't see due to the fog in her eyes. He jumped up from his seat, throwing away the notebook as if he saw her ghost.

"Oh! Miss. You woke up? Good Morning. No. Good Evening." '

This voice doesn't belong to Suhail. Obviously…'

"Sorry.... Who are you? Am I in a hospital? I can't see anything."

'How do I introduce myself?' "Ah. Miss, I am Joshua Sam, The person who brought you to hospital. Please wait a minute. I will call for the doctor." 'Her voice is a bit thick. At last, i got to hear it.'

She hummed in acknowledgment. She didn't have the strength or the senses to respond. The fog in her eyes was frustrating more than the wraps all over her body.

He stepped out while the doctor examined Anna with the assistance of a nurse. He leaned to the wall as he held the drawing notebook in his arms. He opened it and looked quietly at the gorgeous smile of Miss Anna in it. When he heard her sound, he was surprised and by mistake broke the pencil nib. It left a few crumbled pieces of the pencil tip under the eyes of Anna in the drawing. The pencil waste on it made the face of Anna seem crying while trying to force a smile. His throat hurt. His stomach was crumbling. He remembered what she called him when she woke up.

SUHAIL.

For a person he have never wanted to met again, he felt a pang of hatred. The photo of Suhail and Anna from their high class group photo had been viral on internet along with the news. Her hand was resting on his shoulder and both of them had a unique innocence in their childish love while the other children were standing in order diligently. Nobody noticed Joshua at the opposite corner.

It was discovered that day that Anna had partially lost her vision which was a result of the wound on her head.
